Their AI isn't as good as they want you to think. The things it thinks I want to buy are kinda hilarious. I watched the Bekhauf music video and now it think I want buy elephant blankets. There was a Samurai elephant in the music video. I like Hatsune Miku and it thinks I want to buy green onions.

@@Dragon-Believer AI does not think. It looks like it thinks, but what it is really doing is imitating other people's thinking and reasoning. For example it knows the iphone goes in the pocket and not the pocket goes into the iphone just because so many say it the one way and not the other. What if the new AI models get inadvertently trained by output from previous AI models!

      Facebook does the same thing.
      There’s no easy solution.
You can try smaller ad networks which are cheaper or make direct deals with individual websites but it’s more work up front and having to use a 3rd party fraudulent traffic identification system
Google and FB aren’t even very goof at weeding out fraud, to some extent they probably don’t want to be as it would cost them money in effort and more in lost ad spend.
You can try finding websites and content creators who fit your target audience and give them a try. It’s a lot more work to manage but if you can get it dialed in, it can be a lot more profitable assuming the time to manage it all isn’t costing you too much.

Those AI platforms will eventually do the same thing. They’re all burning through investor cash and those investors expect a return on their money.
That’s not going to come from monthly subscriptions without massive advances in operating cost reduction and even then, they’ll never be happy with their profits so they’ll keep raising the prices, then they’ll force ads in, then they’ll force ads even into the paid tier, making a more expensive tier to not see those ads.
And with people blindly believing these AI responses they can get really insidious with the advertising, even making it seem like it’s just a regular response and not an ad, with some disclaimer hidden where nobody will see

eBay will be the next one with a class action lawsuit against the promoted listing fees. They are now charging a minimum 5% promoted listing fee to get your items seen on their platform but at the same time they recommend up to 18%. And when I say recommend ice a strongly recommend it. This is not OK for the platform itself to be the one to tell the sellers what to pay as far as the percentage because there is no neutrality there and absolutely no transparency to back it up. this also is not natural and I do believe it's eBay creating budgets for themselves of what they want to make off of the sellers on these promoted fees. I believe they expect to make a certain amount for their stockholders in their business expenses and I think those promoted fees are based on that and not on what the sellers are actually doing on a daily basis on the items that they're selling as far as competition with other sellers to be seen by the buyers. it feels wrong and everybody knows it and if it looks like a duck quacks like a duck walks like a duck it's usually a duck.

AI can understand as well as a human can. We are both neural networks. Understanding is nothing more than concept matching - the concept in question matches an internal model. To understand something is to have a mental model of that concept and be able to manipulate that mental model enough to predict what an outcome would be given particular inputs. Models of models of models, all the way down, with the lowest level models being physics simulations that we learn as babies, and building on them as we grow.

I worked in the adtech industry for many years. There's no way to hide the minimum bid price from advertisers because you see it in the logs of the bid. If your bid fails, the protocol explains why "bid hasn't cleared floor price".
So, at least part of what you're saying is incorrect.
Also, floor price is used almost everywhere and I don't remember floor price not being used in SSPs ever. Operating a Supply-Side Platform is expensive. There's always a floor proce.
In other words, I get the rising floor narrative, but there's no secret conspiracy here, nor was there every a pure free market time in adtech.

another thing that's happening with Google is when somebody is searching for some thing an answer to a question or how to do something or what something means as far as definitions google goes straight to what can we sell this person because they've made it all about the money they've made it all about these ads that they sell for people that are selling stuff. They might as well be a selling platform themselves and just forget about the Google search engine all together because that is the path that they are on. I truly hope Elon musk creates a search engine that takes all the customers away from google like me that just need a search engine and don't need to buy some thing. and on top of that Google is untruthful when you do ask for questions needing to be answered they got political and bias. Who needs that when they're trying to research something definitely not me. First off, I've never clicked on an advert in any video or banner on any platform. I know very few who have actually purchased something via this method. If something is needed, I'll research it independently.
Secondly, the YT in video adverts are becoming too lengthy. Oftentimes, if I'm not entirely interested in the video then the 1min+ of adverts - up to 20% of videos total length - is an excuse to stop watching it and move on.
These platforms are simply morphing into the terrestrial or cable TV that they replaced - just with less censorship on the adverts.

Lately I’ve turned $1 into $1. Local business. Looking to abandon the model.

It's about time we hit the limit of bs with ads. Marketing has been out of control for a while now.

I love to ad-bait. I click on certain ads so as to fool the algos about me and my interests. Good fun.

I often use it as a spell checker. Since I write about so many different things the words tend to be random. I guess it is randomising my profile.

Add the fact that Google isn’t a search engine anymore and it’s all about the launch of X search

Google ads never worked, they just annoy people. I'm surprised it took so many years for business owners to figure that out...

They worked very well in the 2000's. People were making crazy money in the affiliate space. things really started going downhill 09 with thr iphone turning the default avenue for going online from open browsers to closed apps. by 2015 google services were freefalling in quality.

I’ve ran $5m in adspend over the last decade. It boggles my mind how difficult it is to fix a campaign if it falls off because of this lack of control . Meta on the other hand is extremely easy to adjust and comes out with features that are a net positive and not forced.

The concept of impression share is only based on the KWs your eligible for. Its not for all inventory of that term.

There are lots of reasons why AI won’t do what you seem to expect. One of those reason is that OpenAI answers will shortly be ad driven. I’m not sure you’re aware of their finances, but it’s grim and ads are soon to come.

yup, even 5y ago we ran ads in a very careful professional ad campaign setup, for KWs NO ONE bid on yet charged us $1-2 CPC! Our product sold for $99 so it was impossible. In 2023 we tried an ad and they [as well as META] IGNORE our geo targeting, and demographics, KWs, channels etc and just insisted to give us Bots and trans video audience and ESG/DEI audience.
Anything but what we wanted. YET I see each day advertisers who run long time their promos to a$27, $67, products not only $249 products. So somehow they are managing it though to us, they robbed.
