'open sandwiches' sounds so weird to me, I grew up with the notion that the open ones are the norm and you only have the... 'real' sandwich if you are on the go because they can be wrapped or put into a box without the spread or whatever spilling everywhere. In Germany, many families have bread for dinner (it's actually evening-bread if you translate the word for dinner) and the large hot meal of the day for lunch
as a norwegian I had NO idea that “open sandwiches” were like a special thing other places. it’s the standard breakfast and lunch (especially school lunch) here. we just call them (the norwegian word for) “slice of bread”.
Hey Frida... here’s a bit of a silly question... in Norway, do you eat “open sandwiches” with your hands or do you eat them with a knife and a fork? I’m really curious to know which is the best way to eat them, and you sound like you’re a pro🥰. What’s the best way?
@@marycharlebois6627 definitely hands! unless you have a bunch of toppings and that is difficult. usually we eat open sandwiches with not a lot of toppings and then no one eats it with a knife and fork.
@@fridaopskar6986 OK, this is good to know... I’m definitely going to follow your advice and get into the open sandwich scene. Thanks, and I hope you are having a great day 🌷😃🍞
@@helenadurst5993 Wow, it sounds as if open sandwiches are popular in Europe? They are not so common here in 🇨🇦... but it makes sense if one wants to enjoy a lighter sandwich, and to make one’s bread last longer 🍞. Enjoy your day, and your sandwiches.

I work in a bakery as a shop keeper but I watched our baker make our hot cross buns. Her mix was just as runny as yours! If not even more. Fast piping required. There are 2 styles if cross in terms of thickness. Runny like this so they bake into the buns flat. And thick, so I sits on top of the buns. Yours looked really good.
Hey Gabrielle... this is really cool info that you have shared. Thank-you so much... I had no idea about this type of Hot Cross Bun. I used to bake Hot Cross Buns with my Mom as a kid and we put “sweet icing” crosses on them after they came out of the oven. I've read about Hot Cross Buns before, but never saw how the actual 'cross' is made, super interesting to see! ...here is my go-to bread recipe. Def a quicker one, but I keep making it and everyone loves it! - 500g wholemeal flour (I use spelt, but wheat or a mixture works as well!) - 50g each of oatmeal, ground flaxseeds, sunflower seeds and chopped walnuts (everything is optional, just leave out or substitute as you prefer!) - 1 sachet dry yeast (or equivalent fresh yeast) - 1 tsp salt - 500ml lukewarm water - about 1 or 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar - sesame seeds, poppy seeds etc. for garnish Mix dry ingredients (if using walnuts, I recommend adding these last, they tend to build little 'flour pockets') and add water and vinegar. Stir/fold until well combined and add to a loaf pan. Sprinkle seeds on top and gently press them into the dough. Cover with a dish towel and let rest for about 30 minutes. Bake at 200°C (pre-heated) for about 40 minutes. I always cut it into slices, freeze them and then toast as much as I need. :)

Here in 🇨🇦 Canapés are as Immy described... usually a small tiny cracker with a wee bit of fancy toppings. It’s really fun and interesting to follow this conversation in the comments about the various types of sandwiches and what is popular in each country. Hope your day is going well in Switzerland, and have a great upcoming weekend 🌷🌿🌻 PS - I loved Immy’s Mom too 😃
I was born in Ukraine and nobody knew what sandwich is, it was always open sandwiches which we call "buterbrod" Usually made with butter and salami though😅
Good job with the bread ! It's so hard to do but i think i don't have the good "Yeast type" because he never "get up" Always flat and not cooked properly 🥲😬🤣
I literally foraged some wild garlic on Sunday and made wild garlic houmous 😍 it's so good 👌 I love stirred through cooked pasta too 😍 I learned the pasta/houmous combo from Madeleine Olivia 👌 you hot cross buns look amazing!! As does your pasta and peanut butter .....oh and your bread and sandwiches 😂😍
Hi Clarire... can I ask what country you are from? I’ve learned that wild garlic is a thing in the UK... but I’m not sure if it grows here in 🇨🇦 where I am from. I would love to know more about wild garlic... it seems so appealing at this time of the year. And I agree 💯... Immy’s Hot Cross Buns, pb, sammys, and pasta all look so delish. I hope you are having a great day 🌸🌿
Hi Mary, yes I am from the UK, and it really does grow wild over here in certain woodland areas, I wonder if you could type in on Google to find out if it does? It really is wonderful 💚 I use it to make pesto or even just snipped with some scissors and sprinkles raw onto meals xx
@@clairelamb4547 Hi again Claire... I Googled wild garlic to learn more. This plant likes damp soils in woodlands in an oceanic climate, so it would be right at home in the UK and in Southwestern BC (🇨🇦). I’m from Northern BC where the conditions are likely too cool for this plant. That said, I have family in the southwestern part of the province and when this panda party is over I’m going to look for it when I go visit them. Thanks for your lovely response... enjoy your wild garlic pesto and hummus (I’m so envious) and have a great upcoming weekend 🌱🌷😃
Hi Sustainably vegan Request please- can you do an episode or series on UK brands you like, or point me to them if you have done it already. Thank you ☺️
I would recommend making a sourdough starter. Fresh yeast for free and super easy and delicious. :) And you can use the kitchen aid for kneading your bread dough as well.

I've always wanted to make my own peanut butter but never really looked into it, can't believe how easy it is! 👍 Will defo give it a try. I also loved the look of that pasta dish but my partner hates all types of pasta! 😞
Haha, I also don't like mix peel. And also didn't know what it was. But I have eaten buns and other baked goods with mixed peel in them and I never liked it.
Just to add to the “mixed peel” conversation... it is so ridiculously expensive. How can “peel”, the jacket of fruit... be so crazy expensive?? TBH... I much prefer Immy’s idea of adding in citrus zest 🍊🍋 Have a great upcoming weekend 😃
Oh my god, everything looks so yummy! I'm not an expert, however, would say that your baking looks very professional. You should apply for the Bake Off (joking). I looked at the Four Sigmatic website, where you kindly provide a discount, but it's not clear how much the shipping to the UK would cost. Could you roughly tell me how much it would be? Thanks.
Hey Alina... just a quick FYI if you get the Four Sigmatic Protein Powder... I used Immy’s recipe to make her “Chocolate Hazelnut Granola” and it is sooooo delish. (I did not use “Four Sigmatic” brand because I’m from 🇨🇦 and most UK products are not available here.). Immy’s “Chocolate Hazelnut Granola” recipe is super easy to make, and it is such a treat. I did have to watch it carefully towards the end of the baking time because it started to burn in a quick moment, so if you make it... keep a close eye on it when it’s in the oven. I hope you enjoy this product, and also... have a great upcoming weekend 🌸🌿💜. PS - I thought Immy’s baking looked professional too... very inspiring.
@@SustainablyVegan Maybe you could do a little Mom & Daughter “gardening and cooking” video (or a small segment in a video) around the time of Mother’s Day in May? BUT then again... I literally tried for months but I was just so terrible at it haha I was thinking of maybe taking a course when covid allows. Or maybe that is over kill?
is where you are the mushroom season in spring? i always wait for my big mushroom dishes till autumn (hence english isn't my first language I hope this comment doesn't come as judgemental across, I really am just curious and want to learn more about seasonal eating)
@@sandragoss62 Hey Sandra... just as a quick point of reference, this vintage style of apron is called a “cross back apron”. It has no apron strings, and it covers the entire front of the body. (I’m a high school sewing teacher and we make aprons for a Mother’s Day gift in my class.). I hope you find one that you like 😃🌸
I don't refer to "open sandwiches" as such, that's a normal sandwich to me :) I guess people can be divided into those who eat the sandwich for the bread and those who eat it for the toppings. I am camp toppings, so 2 slices of bread in one sandwich would be too much for me. I only do that on the go when I don't have a choice.

It’s really fun and interesting to follow this conversation in the comments about the various types of sandwiches and what is popular in each country. Hope your day is going well in Switzerland, and have a great upcoming weekend 🌷🌿🌻 PS - I loved Immy’s Mom too 😃
i loveeeee these videos! So calming and relaxing yet educating.
Your Mum is throwing as much shade as Mrs Crocombe
Can you do a video about growing your own sprouts and micro greens? I’m so curious! 💕
she made one!
I think it's in the video just before this one!
I was born in Ukraine and nobody knew what sandwich is, it was always open sandwiches which we call "buterbrod"
Usually made with butter and salami though😅
Thank you for the education! It's been so interesting to read people's comments about open sandwiches on this video xx
@@SustainablyVegan I agree 💯. I’ve learned more about sandwiches in the past 24 hours than I have in the past 24 years. Love this!! 🍞💜🥪🌿
OMG, OMG I want the second video now! Instant gratification, Immy! I cannot wait! ;)
Hahaha I am working on it :)
Everything looks so delicious! Thanks for the inspiration! I love all of your videos.
Thanks so much! 😊
The peanut butter looks phenomenal
Good job with the bread ! It's so hard to do but i think i don't have the good "Yeast type" because he never "get up"
Always flat and not cooked properly 🥲😬🤣
I totally understand this! I was actually surprised this one did so well haha
1:22 Love your hair clip!!
I immediately experience true happiness whenever you upload💜thank you, amazing, amazing channel✨
ah thank you so much, that honestly means so much to me!
omg that peanut butter. i’m totally going to make it❤️❤️
I literally foraged some wild garlic on Sunday and made wild garlic houmous 😍 it's so good 👌 I love stirred through cooked pasta too 😍 I learned the pasta/houmous combo from Madeleine Olivia 👌 you hot cross buns look amazing!!
I hope you are having a great day 🌸🌿
Haha thank you so much!!
Hi Sustainably vegan
Request please- can you do an episode or series on UK brands you like, or point me to them if you have done it already. Thank you ☺️
Might have to try that pasta and thank you open sandwiches idea
Your bread and buns looks absolutely beautiful and sooooo yummie 😋 good job 🤗
I would recommend making a sourdough starter. Fresh yeast for free and super easy and delicious. :)
And you can use the kitchen aid for kneading your bread dough as well.
Thanks for the tips! I've tried and failed with sourdough in the past but will definitely try again!
New sub here! 🙋🏽♀️ I'm not vegan, but am on the path to eating "clean." Loving all of your recipies that seem so easy to make. I can't wait to try them! Thanks for posting! 😁🤍
All foodies are welcome here! No need to be vegan to be welcome, thank you so much for joining :) And thanks for your feedback, it's super helpful!! xx
Those hot cross Buns and homemade bread look amazing!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Thank you!! I was actually really surprised at how well they turned out for my first try :)
Hey Immy, ~! Your bread is looking a++ do you have a recipe written I could use to make it? Thanks
Hey Sabina, that’s a great idea... I would love the bread recipe too. It looks amazing!! I hope you have an amazing upcoming weekend 🍞🥰
Oh woops!!! Of course I forgot to put it in the description!! I used a 'Seeded malted Bread flour with sunflower, pumpkin & millet seeds' (a mix I bought from a supermarket) 500g, 1tsp salt, 10g v butter, 7g fast acting yeast, 270ml room temp water. This recipe was literally on the paper packet of the flour! Really nothing special, just very straight forward
You make me want to cook all day !!
Open sandwich 🤤😋 I'm going to have to make one tomorrow now 😁 Great video btw 👍
Thank you 😋I hope you enjoy it xx
Part I ?! Oh man! 😮*pouts* hahaha. I sent this to a friend that is obsessed with bread. Ha! It all looked so good! ✌️🌱
Hahaha I promise it will be out soon!!
I've always wanted to make my own peanut butter but never really looked into it, can't believe how easy it is! 👍 Will defo give it a try. I also loved the look of that pasta dish but my partner hates all types of pasta! 😞
I'm not huge on pasta either, but I was thinking I might try it with like creamy brown rice or another whole grain. Those mushrooms look delish!
Yeah it's wild how easy it is to make! Ah a person that doesn't love pasta??? haha
집이 너무 예뻐요.Your house is beautiful.
Gracias
Recetas deliciosas y sencillas de hacer
With your homemade peanut butter, how long was it in the food processor and which blade / emulsifier did you use?
Everything looks so good! Yummy :)
Thanks a lot, it's nice to know!
I LOVED YOUR MUM!! HAHAHAA you should make a cooking video with her!! Hahahahaha
Great idea Emiliana... that would be EPIC!! How ‘bout it Immy❓💕
She's evil! Such a judgemental chef...she's way better than me. I don't know if I could get her involved, I may try!
@@SustainablyVegan Maybe you could do a little Mom & Daughter “gardening and cooking” video (or a small segment in a video) around the time of Mother’s Day in May? BUT then again... I think Mother’s Day has already happened in the UK (in March??). If not... it was fun to see her offer some “guidance” in today’s video. PS - I love this term “shade”... that’s a new one to me.
Great video! I havd those scissors. Also, what did you do with the chickpea water?
i love love love these video!!!
I'm not sure if anyone has asked this, but how long would you say the fresh peanut butter keeps?
Have you ever tried making sourdough? I'm trying my hand at it now. Quite exciting
I literally tried for months but I was just so terrible at it haha I was thinking of maybe taking a course when covid allows. Or maybe that is over kill?
You bread looks great! Did I miss the part with a recipe or you eyeball it?
I love that orange pan! Where did you get that?
oh I loved the shade from your mum, made me laugh
Congrats 🍾
OMG that breaaad!! You actually inspired on giving bread a try, the only time I tried making one was years ago and it was a disaster hahah
Yaaaay. Do! I was so bad but I'm actually getting better
@@SustainablyVegan Hahah I'll do my best
I love sprouts!
I think i've become a little too obsessed
I love love love those videos!
I'm so glad to hear it!! Thank youu xx
Imogen, how could you pipe that! Love your mum's cameo :D
Me too...💯!! Good one Helena... 😂
She's a devil that one!
is where you are the mushroom season in spring? i always wait for my big mushroom dishes till autumn (hence english isn't my first language I hope this comment doesn't come as judgemental across, I really am just curious and want to learn more about seasonal eating)
I love your videos 😍 where did you get you lovely apron from? 🌻
ah thank you so much! It's actually my mums! I think she got it from a Cornish brand called Seasalt
Ahh yes !!! I’ve heard of them. Thanks for getting back to me I’ll scoot over to them and have a look. 🥰🌻🥰
I hope you find one that you like 😃🌸
@@marycharlebois6627 thank you for the info. I’ve just started sewing so I’m going to research some patterns 🌻👍🏻🌻
@@sandragoss62 “Cross Back Aprons” are very easy to sew. I hope this project comes together for you 🧵
So so lovely Immy! :)
Thank you! 😊
💗💗💗
Give starter a go, no yeast-based bread will ever be as healthy and delicious!
Hi Immy's mum!
What is the recipe for the bread?
Of course I forgot to put it in the description!! Love your mom (not the shade though... No shade on Immy) 😉🌼
She shades me daily haha
Good one Jailyn... this made me giggle😂. Happy Spring to you, and hoping you are getting some Spring 🌞 and 🌷.
@@marycharlebois6627 happy spring to you too! It's rainy today, but we're having lovely weather otherwise. ☔🌼🌻
Immy I was wondering is everyone is your household vegan or is it just you? I am the only vegan in my home but my husband and son are transitioning to becoming vegetarians.
#immyshouldershimmy 😂♥️
hehe
"a huge amount of shade" gurl that's nothin
lol you should hear the other things she says
Hot Cross Buns!
