Scar 16 SBR is my favorite suppressed rifle. It has > 10,000 rounds without any problems at all. I can only run my KA SR 15 SBR about 600 rounds suppressed before it has to be taken apart and completely cleaned which is dirty as hell. The scar 16 suppressed is awesome for suppression .
Are you running the Moto tech engineering 3 position gas block. If not, I would highly recommend on that setup. It makes the gas positions actually different and makes the gun so soft to shoot. 😊
I've been building a 7.5" 5.56 AR since before this thing was announced. While not ideal for the same uses as a full length rifle, it's far more comfortable than my PC Charger, and I think with the right ammo it'll do everything that does as good or better. The only critique I have for your Baby SCAR is the price. My AR build is coming in at a lot less, including a high end BCG, billet receivers, and a binary trigger. If your main thing is just "SCAR = cool" though, I can't complain. I work in a business where our customers waste a ton of money just to look cool, and that's what pays my bills, so I can't trash talk it too hard.
I built a 7.5 Aero Precision setup in 5.56 FDE 5 years ago. Its my go to home defense rifle. I run a Vortex Sparc, Fenix PD35 Tac light on the side, a Strike Industries angled foregrip, and an adjustable pistol stock. The thing is badass. It just works. Hasn't jammed on me once. Set me back about 1800 but I'm ok with that. I would suggest throwing a BMD on the barrel for concussion/flash/recoil and running good quality frangible rounds if you plan on using it for home defense like I do. It helps me sleep at night, living in the city and all...

Shortest you should go on a 556 rifle is 10.3. Anything shorter doesn’t make any sense. The whole point of 556 is to use the velocity to increase the ballistic capability. If you’re gonna be building a short gun use 300 blk.

The Robinson arms xcr-l mini, has had all the things they're offering here for a decade. It also has the ability to switch calibers for reasonable price, your warranty isn't ruined by using a suppressor, and they had a non reciprocating charging handle since the beginning. Slightly different than HK, FN's motto is, "because we suck and we hate you." Oh and with a superior 2 stage trigger, and a barrel of choice including 9.5" , and Superior short barrel calibers like 7.62 x39 and especially 6.8 SPC. And smaller profile foreend with mlok. At scar prices it's no contest.
Exactly! I've made all these points and more. .300 available, 6.5 Grendel available. Various barrel lengths available. Excellent stocks available or like this Scar, a buttcap. On top of it all I took my XCR to 2 different. 5 day shooting classes. Both times it was the only carbine to not jam (out of mostly AR types). Even the instructors took their time to point that out both times. Not the cheapest but it's the one I trust over many at or more than the price when the bet is my life. I hope it never comes to that but it's a great feeling to have found an MSR. If anyone hasn't checked it out, take a look, I think you'll be impressed, ( they'll even work on getting the ceracoat finish you want) Great gun, great company!
I really only go as short at 10.3/10.5 for a 5.56, once we get shorter than that, as I'm sure you're aware, we just lose so much. Regardless, with good ammo selection (like Mk262), we can still give even a 7.5 barrel a fighting chance, but it's still not going to be great, but at least workable (in terms of terminal performance). If I was doing this, I'm with you on SBRing. SBR to get a stock, and a quality can, like a SF RC2 556 SOCOM or something of that caliber. I usually avoid vert grips, but on SBRs I actually get some use out of them, would maybe do that too. Great video as usual, thank Christ they came out with the non-reciprocating CH and are using it on this offering -if ever it was super needed, it's here and now.
@@lynxactual670 I mean, I do. SCAR 16, 17, And full auto Mk17. That reciprocating CH is a bastard for those who don't know how to work with it yet. Pain retains. Still would rather AR15 or AR10 over FN's SCAR.
Barrel length is a ridiculous argument considering the fact that 5.56 is not a knock down round. It pokes holes, and 7.5 inch barrel makes more sense than a 16 inch
@@blackreacher The 5.56 relies on muzzle velocity to do its damage. 7.5in barrels make absolutely no fucking sense. If you actually shot your guns, you’d know this.
@Dixie_Normus long barrel AR is an assault weapon, is an offensive tool. It's not a round for hunting, only purpose is a people stopper. Military use it because it stops people at long distance, but you're not gonna use it for that, only for self defense, close range and the short barrel 5.56 makes much more sense
@@blackreacher no its not an Assualt weapon. The military uses it because its a light recoiling weapon that is easy to shoot and the lighter ammo allows the soldier to carry more ammo. And their is no such thing as “stopping power”. If the military wanted stopping power they would have kept using the larger 7.62 nato cartridge they had adopted before the 5.56. 5.56 is a velocity dependent round. It relies on the hydrostatic shock caused by the small light bullet impacting flesh at a high velocity. No velocity means no effectiveness. So no a 7.5in barrel is useless.
The only reason I got an AR pistol and would buy this one is to get around the “SBR stamp”! Most of y’all don’t understand not everyone lives in a laid back state! And yes a short barrel for home protection is better any day over your “glock 19x”! Also they’re fun to shoot 😂
I'm not really familiar with bullet physics, but one thing I know is that decreasing muzzle length decreases the accuracy of the weapon as a whole, as well as the size and shape of the bullet itself. So, if anyone can answer my question, wouldn't a 9 mm or something of that size and caliber be better suited for a weapon of this size and barrel length?
Think of the barrel of the gun as a straw. If you try to blow a wad of paper out of a really short straw, only a little bit of pressure is going to build and your paper won't go very far without angling upward. The longer the straw, the more pressure can build before the paper comes out the end. As soon as the paper leaves the end of the straw, any amount of air pressure from you blowing will not propel the paper any harder. With a full length drinking straw, you can reasonably hit an object across a room while keeping the straw relatively flat. The powder inside the case of a round does not all combust simultaneously. The longer the bullet stays in the barrel, the more powder can burn and create more pressure to propel that bullet faster before the bullet leaves the barrel and the leftover powder burns into the air. The shorter, wider case of pistol calibers along with the faster burning powder used makes for a round that will achieve most of its powder burn very quickly, reducing the benefit of having longer barrels. You are correct in thinking that 9mm is more suited to that barrel length than 5.56. However, most rifle rounds are going significantly faster than pistol rounds and create more immediate damage than is possible for pistol rounds most of the time. A 10.3 inch barrel firing a 5.56 is still delivering about 20% more energy than 9mm out of very long barrels. At around 7 inch barrels, 5.56 is delivering a similar amount of energy to a 9mm from an 18 inch barrel. There are some intermediate rifle calibers than bridge the gap between what performance you can get out of a shorter barrel. .300 blackout and 7.62x39 burn their powder quite fast for rifle rounds and realize more of their potential out of 7-9 inch barrels than many other rifle rounds like 5.56. This is why you can expect to find more rifles and pistols of that barrel length in those calibers and why you will see people suggesting those calibers.
At 7inches your getting roughly the same amount of foot pounds as 9mm from a 6 inch barrel, however its cool. Objectively not better then a 7inch 9mm pcc or 10mm pcc, 300blk would be the best caliber for this barrel length.
I would love to see a 15 and 30 yard target placement test on an outdoor range with these type of short barreled rifle caliber weapon systems, whether SBR or an AK pistol with a stabilizing brace. Gun laws kind of force you to have to either comply to having to compromise what or if you can load .223/.556/7.62 into.
I built an AR with 7.5 inch in 5.56 just for shits and grins... and I have to say its is one of my favorites ... but it definitely needed a suppressor.
2:58 The SAS did this similarly with the mp5. Known as the "push-pull" teqnuique. Glad more people know about this. Also glad to see it works well with this gun. A compensator might do it better as well possibly but could also be much louder.
If we're just going on looks I would almost agree putting it next to the Robinson XCR Pistol - which, if I we're going beyond just looks offers much more, (caliber changes, option for brace/buttstock, proven reliability, cost effectiveness).
There's plenty of YT vids showing gel tests on 5.56/.223 out of a 7.5" pistol barrel. Poboy Special has done great work with many different ammos for instance, check his content out. M855A1 Green Tip gave some pretty good results showing tumbling and permanent wound cavity. Is .300BLK a better choice out of a smaller barrel? Yes but 5.56/.223 is still effective, especially in heavier weights.
Looks great, not for me, prefer longer barrel. Would love to have one, but wouldn't be going to range much with it. I can see use for it to keep near you in small lock box for home protection, is what I would use it for.

The Annie Oakley supporting hand (left) with a straight arm is awkward as most firearm trainers will push for that elbow to be bent. The idea of putting your left thumb on top of the hand guard is the most awkward looking hold. This is the difference between the way they trained us in the 1980's and 2015. Look into the SME muzzle device from Witt Machine.
As soon as I saw the scar SC I really hoped they would eventually make a civilian version so it’s great they actually did. If I had one of these though I would definitely have to put a vertical foregrip and the scar SC telescoping stock. No way I’d keep this thing without a foregrip and stock.

Looks like a nice backpack gun for hiking or whatever. With the barrel length I think I would rather have .300 black out. But it still has high enough energy with .223 5.56 to finish a problem you come up against.
Come to Texas Gun Experience we have that LE only model in F/A scar I put a surefire break if you want to suppress it it’s the softest gun in the armory besides the MP 40 for B&T

I have a Sig Rattler that I often shoot in 5.56, and although it’s a flame thrower, with its 5” barrel, it is soooo much fun to shoot…so I’m sure the SCAR is awesome!! As for suppressing, my Rattler truly shines with 300 Blackout Subsonic rounds. Do they have plans to make a 300 Blackout barrel for the SCAR?
Thank you for the great video!!
Thats what I said, just get the Sig.
Doesn’t look like it has too much recoil…. Looks like a nice piece honestly👍🏽
@@that1electrician Mine has a linear comp, so pretty close for the muzzle device. Haven't got a light for it yet, but I'm working on it. Ammo's probably going to be the hard part, since the only stuff that isn't M855 or M193 is absurdly priced, or not available locally.
What would the full length AR be used to stop that the 7.5 inch cannot?
I had a Kale Tech 5.56 The barrel was 7" and it was loud A barrel has to be 16" and what they did was they shortened the barrel like AM4 without stock sebians cannot have the import with a small barrel so now you can get it in a pistol version and put the stock on it it was very smart that is an awesome gun
That baby scar is nice, but damn look at his TRX in the background! 😎
Check out the CMMG Dissent line, very similar and in 5.7, 5.56, .300BO

I bet you've been dying to tell us how you got that SCAR. 🤓
Like most circumcisions....
it's a baby scar.
I'll admit I'm not so sure about 5.56 out of anything less than a 10.5in barrel, but if FN sold this exact setup in 300 blackout I'd buy it in a HEARTBEAT.
Agreed! They messed up on that
🔥🔥 remember saying I didn't like the scar because of how bulky and big it was. But now and behold 🙏🙏
Kiss your velocity goodbye and give a warm welcome to keyholing. Anything below 10.5 is moronic.
Shortest you should go on a 556 rifle is 10.3. Anything shorter doesn’t make any sense. The whole point of 556 is to use the velocity to increase the ballistic capability. If you’re gonna be building a short gun use 300 blk.
Nice. Very reminiscent of the Olympic Arms- OA93. No lower receiver extension. Recoil spring on top of DI gas, all AR-15 lower.
My thoughts exactly.
It’s not an all AR-15 lower, though.
I have the FN-17s with a trijicon 6x48. I’ll be purchasing the 15p in a few days, super excited. Great video sir!
can't wait to see it with a stock and silencer
I really enjoyed this video as I have been on the fence on getting one. But you sold me with your honest user POV review. I especially like that you talked about suppressing it at some point.
That recoil control crazy for being a pistol, Baby Scar is a go
its just a 5.56 bro, plus he’s applying tension with the sling
One of my favorite channels on RUclips! That being said, I don’t blame you for wanting it. I’ve seen a 7 in (I think) barrel .308 over at Life with OB lmao
Love my 16 and 17, but I need this. Love to see how an Ugg boot looks on this. I prefer ammo commonality and don’t have anything in 300 blackout, so this works for me
Fun fact though, the factory select fire versions of these come with a Mini UGG boot. Kind of MP5 style.
so your gonna put an ugg boot on it essentially turning it into the scar 16 which you already have and your gonna spend about a 1000$ more than what it would be to buy another 16 makes sense
@@nathanmassaro4422 i said “love to see how an Ugg boot looks on this”, not that I would run this with one on, if it were possible.
I wish you would do a video on Illinois HB5855. You would be surprised how many gun owners in Illinois have know idea about it.
Thanks for all you do for the gun Community
The Robinson arms xcr-l mini, has had all the things they're offering here for a decade. It also has the ability to switch calibers for reasonable price, your warranty isn't ruined by using a suppressor, and they had a non reciprocating charging handle since the beginning. Slightly different than HK, FN's motto is, "because we suck and we hate you."
Oh and with a superior 2 stage trigger, and a barrel of choice including 9.5" , and Superior short barrel calibers like 7.62 x39 and especially 6.8 SPC.
"Does this gun leave big wounds?"
"Just a little SCAR"
@@lynxactual670
I mean, I do.
2:55 “you can kind of use it as a stabilizer of sorts”
ATF now looking to regulate slings because they may be used as stabilizers.
Cool 90%, useful 10%
speak for yourself 😂
@@reasonablenamehere you must be a professor or a gunsmith because that made all of the sense. Thank you, professor Freddie 🙏
@@TheReidmeister96 No, I just have to reduce things to their simplest terms to grasp them. That's how I taught myself the basics of ballistics.
Love the scar.
It's one of my bucket list guns.
That said, even if I had CN money, I wouldn't buy one of these.
7" 5.56 is still better than any PCC.
But 300blk would be better choice.
Check out the strike dual folding adapter for this over the bulky scar style
Its crazy how wrong you are
At 7inches your getting roughly the same amount of foot pounds as 9mm from a 6 inch barrel, however its cool.
Definitely think 10” would be nice. But I still think it looks sweet!
The 16 already has a 10" barrel option.

The SAS did this similarly with the mp5.

Glad more people know about this.
Also glad to see it works well with this gun.
A compensator might do it better as well possibly but could also be much louder.
I have to say it’s the best looking 5.56 pistol I’ve seen … ever
If we're just going on looks I would almost agree putting it next to the Robinson XCR Pistol - which, if I we're going beyond just looks offers much more, (caliber changes, option for brace/buttstock, proven reliability, cost effectiveness).
Add a sure fire flash hider awesome when suppressed, use the warden when un suppressed. Now it just needs to be in 300 blk
Yeah at like 10ft.
@@Front-Toward-Enemy you should do a video where your 11ft away and take one to the chest.

If it was a .300 blk out I would buy this today. I might buy one just to have one but. They need to make a .300 blk out version asap
Been waiting for this to drop to find a review, you sir just popped up for me this morning. You got a new subscriber because of this sheer joy of shooting this amazing firearm. Wish it came in .300 BLK personally, but the concept I like. $3700 for it is a bit pricey. Considering it's being SBR immediately and henceforth.
Change it to 300 blackout with a pistol brace(that might be banned). Angle grip. That would be my set up for that baby scar.
FN is my favorite manufacturer of firearms.. such high quality. Wish they would release a PCC (specifically a 9mn PCC).
I will add that to my Christmas list!
My 1st thoughts apon looking at the Baby Scar/Scar 15p. Is to sharpen the flash hider to be multi-purpose!!!

As soon as I saw the scar SC I really hoped they would eventually make a civilian version so it’s great they actually did. If I had one of these though I would definitely have to put a vertical foregrip and the scar SC telescoping stock. No way I’d keep this thing without a foregrip and stock.
