That last IS-7 driver spends ENTIRELY too much time sniveling and whining about premium ammo for me to be impressed with him.
The usuall sequence of events: get bored, watch random RUclips vids, warch some BE, then go on WOT to get trolled continously (last time I played I lost 32 games in a row because of trolls and annoying team mates), get annoyed, watch some more BE, back to the beginning.

The IS-7 gun from range is bad, but close up its good and the arma is great. You cant have it all. As a tank that says "im going to get in your face and f*'c* you up" Its great.
only 400k+ left to grind and i'll have this tank. can't wait!
+Stephen Sexton It was a dissapointment for me, todays medium tanks are OP as hell, they do same damage as you, bounce all the shots and pen you everytime oh i forgot, they are twice as fast and manouvareble.

Collin O'Neil Downhill, yes. On straight ground or uphill and in soft terrain it's just as slow as the other heavies.

Right click a tank and select "set as primary". It gets a yellow stripe and always appears first in your garage list.

The guy who sent that replay in at the end was truly annoying, all he did was accuse of gold when they didn't need it to kill him.
I loved driving it during Steel Hunt-at the time I only had my T28 and Stock KV-1 and it along with the Leopard 1 were like a breath of fresh air.

Jingles which tank gun is the MOST accurate that you have seen so far?
IS-7 sits in my garage demilitarized. No crew, ammo, equipment, and destroyed. i would happily trade it to rebuy my tier 9s i sold to buy other 10s. :( haven't played a single game in a couple days without getting ammo racked. and ive been seeing tons of other IS-7s being the first ones to die. not so much because of bad position just spotted for a short time and a TD blasts it through the front giving no Fcks about its armor and boom. ammo racked. 2150 health gone. maybe just bad luck or improperly played or equipped but i don't feel its worth playing.
IS-8 is a true paper tank , but i've managed to understand what it likes and what it doesn't when i take on the battlefield, so in most of the times i am effective ,even if my team most of the time isn't and we lose the game. IS-7 like any other tank has weak spots , try to hide them and see how it goes. I haven't researched IS-7 yet , but i can tell you that i've seen lots of people angle it (which you shouldn't) and i've also seen lots of people leaving the "belly" uncovered. I shoot it there all the time and i never miss a shot. So , don't angle , hide the belly and see how it goes.
I bought my IS-7 a few weeks ago, i have a 61% win rate in it, it's got beautiful armour against heavies, just dodge the tds.
***** I disagree. I can't make it work very well. just get obliterated by heat rounds. if you can make it work go for you though :)
nfsfanAndrew Mate ,IS7 has two different playstyles. 1. You can play it like a heavy ,if you are the only tier 10 "heavy" tank in your team. 2. You can always play it like a medium tank with a very very big gun and great armor :P, but only if your team has an E-100 or a Maus. ,also depends on the map you are playing on. People are firing heat ammo at my turret ,and ding ding ,and then they cry about how OP the is7 is. xD
I want that tank pretty badly. Still not got it researched, though.

Cheers Jingles. I did enjoy and learn from this video. Been having a hell of a time in my IS-7. Most of the Soviet tanks are brawlers and this fits my play style. The low hp is a problem but playing it right is key. I really like the term "controlled agression". This is as you said, a tier 10, and as such, the brawler mentality gets you killed without support. Will favorite this vid and review it until I know it well.
I'm about a decade late and a buck short, but this video is gold.

is7 still is a wonderful tank but its not like some other tier 10 heavys were you just have bulk armor and a big gun almost no skill needed ....is7 is one of the more difficult heavys to play but when a good skilled player is playing it, it turns into and unstoppable beast..in the hands on a less skilled/ bad player the tank sucks

Get it hulled down, and basically nothing can pen it. It does need support from others though because it's DPM sucks, it cannot go head to head with multiple opponents. Get some back up and you're golden

randomly came up and i was like holy shit june of 13 I had only been playing wot for 5 months at that point!! i got the IS-7 as my first tier 10 and on christmas day of 2013 haha

Gotta make some corrections.
The IS-7's side hull consists of three parts:
-Lower side hull, 100mm flat (the part behind the tracks). The tracks themselves add 20mm, but external modules aren't affected by angle.
-Mid-side hull (the flat part above the tracks). 20mm spaced armour plus a 100mm inner plate @ 60 degrees.
-Upper side hull (sloped part under the turret). 150mm @ 47 degrees.
If you're willing to fork over 3 dollars, I recommend gamemodels3d.
That last replay is so annoying, every time enemies do a penetrating shot, he says "Pretty gold" "Noob". Fuck off and quit crying! It's their choice to spent premium ammo on you. You don't like premium ammo, don't play the game and bugger off.

Spaced armor is basically just two plates of armor ontop of eachother with some space in between. The advantage is that if a shot penetrates the outer plate it will be stopped by the plate underneath. Spaced armor was first developed in world war 2 to prevent shaped charges from penetrating.

Thanks for posting this. I appreciate everyone that posts WOT videos but yours especially. Not everyone will show the bad games. I finally got my IS7 and was disappointed with the gun. Now I don't feel bad about bouncing so many shots.
When I started WOT everyone said "get the IS7" it's the best tier 10,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it kind of to be expected that you won't do so well if you're facing tank destroyers head-on, even in a heavy? I noticed Jingles mentioned he was having difficulty (bouncing, or 0 damage shots on the Obj) but isn't it very difficult to beat tank destroyers like that head on even in an IS-7?
It has that gay pike nose so you cant really use cover as effectively because your just de-angling your armor but yes i see what you are saying

The is7 had a slow reload & less accurate gun than the is4, so it's more difficult to shoot frontal weakspots with it, best to try to track the td in front of you for your arty to kill then use your mobility to flank from a different direction or go engage a new target.

When you get to tier ten tanks, is it common to have an all tier 10 tank match, or are there not enough tier 10 players to get that kind of match?

when you're going around the corner in an IS-7, you can try something similar to sidescraping that's not really sidescraping. Back around the corner at a very slight angle so that your pike nose isn't vulnerable, and you will retain the good angling.

Hello! I just saw this and I want to say I bought that tank a few weeks ago and I think it's great! I know that with the 9.0 new tanks can blast it, but I think that I'd you manage to get a good cover place you can dominate the battlefield!

Hey jingles after waching this vid. Are the german heavies easier to play because you can point around the corner with angleing and with the is series with the pikenose you need to come around the corner fully to ,angle,, your armor so you are exposed i asked this because i cant decide wich heavies to choose
i believe that the enhanced gun laying drive will help you more than the stabilizer
Anyone find it curious that the IS-7 has only about 7 tons more than the IS-4 and about 300PS more .... but they are about the same mobility on even terrain .... (tested it several times with friends) ... and only overtakes IS-4s on very long straights .... but as always .... keep up the good work Jingles

Jingles , After you uploaded video's on youtube , do you delete them afterwards or you keep them on your computer if so how many hard drives you have and what size are them in?
As others have said, essentially 2 layers of armor spaced apart from each other, the outer layer usually thin.
The basic idea is that the thin outer layer can cause premature detonation (in the case of HEAT warhead) which will cause decreased penetration when it hits the real armor as HEAT loses penetration rapidly from the point of detonation
Or in cases like subcaliber penetrator it can cause the penetrator to shatter (like in whipple shield) but this only works against very small penetrator

Jingles i just wondered why didn't you sidescrape the is-7? It has 150mm of side armor afterall plus its re-enforced with spaced armor....why dont you let your spaced armor eat the ammo then you can take your time aiming

Your analysis of the armor had some errors. Best place to shoot isn't the lights. It's the towing loops lower down on the upper glacis, just a spot above the beak. Also please don't shoot at the drivers hatch. There's an observation module right in the middle that will eat shells. Next to the module is a 140 mm plate sloped at 75 degrees! Basically an auto-bounce unless you're using AP and looking at the hatch straight on. From straight on and with 5 degrees of normalization the towing loop is 280 mm effective. The lights are 311. With HEAT the towing loops are 328 and the lights are 375. Also with a tier X TD you can pen through the relatively small cheek bones of the turret face (300/328/350 effective with AP/APCR/HEAT).
Of course. Friendly artillery players who are actually awake are brave heroes, sacrificing any chance of ever being deemed socially acceptable by playing artillery so the rest of us don't have to. All enemy artillery players, good or bad, are just stinky scumbags!

There is one weird thing about the Russian heavy lines. They seem to cross over to one another when you move from tier 9 to tier 10. IS, IS-3 and IS-8 have 4 crew members and so does IS-4. ST-1 has 5 crew members which IS-7 also has. Any idea why it's like this. I have my old ST-1 crew on my IS-7 so it doesn't bother me but it just felt odd when I unlocked IS-7 with my IS-8.
How do you get the yellow stripe on the tank? I got a mastery badge for my TOG so Im not sure what it needs

if you talking about sheer alpha damage, the E-100 holds that title. It's final gun can do 750 damage on average but you lose penetration and accuracy (and I think also aim time) in exchange for that.
Hi jingles What do you make of the new armour angles due on the super pershing in0.8.7 In your opinion will this have a big impact on the armours ability to soak up shells?

I'd never noticed how much that side spaced-armour protrudes out from the tank before until now, it's almost like looking at the anti-torpedo bulges fitted to capital ships in the middle of last century.

If the side of the IS-7 is so good, then how is my T32s 105mm gun with 198mm of pen go through the side and do damage 4 out of 5 shots from over 300 meters?

You select your first skill, and then let it reach 100%. Once it does, you can then select another skill for that crewmember. Keep in mind, the 2nd skill takes longer to reach 100% than the 1st skill, and the 3rd skill takes even longer to reach than the 2nd, and so on down the line. I believe it's a logarithmic function.

Hello. I have a small question regarding your consumables. How it is possible to have repair, medical kit, fire disabler and cammo net at once ? O_O
There's nothing wrong with the Is-7 gun Jingles.
It's the same complaints every one's making about guns when they fire without being fully aimed
And it usually happens with guns that have long aiming time, the impatience during the heat of battle is understandable.
You need to let the reticle shrink completely unless the whole of the enemy tank is covered
But even then if you do not want your shot to deviate and hit some sort of spaced armour like wheels/tracks or gun mantle you should hold fire

premium penetration like APCR, APDS ammo have their normalization reduced to just 2 degree instead of 5 degree.
HEAT also gets massive nerf, some directly... but the real nerf they get is that now they have reduced penetration the further away they get from the point of impact, so spaced armor now becomes quite effective at reducing HEAT penetration, and tracks functions as spaced armor against it.
OTOH, all guns (except SPG) are now much more accurate or rather much more reliable at range.
So would you suggest to get the IS-7 or IS-4. I like good penetration and accuracy (which the IS-4 exels at), but i also want good frontal armor that is not supper difficult to use (In this case i am not sure about the IS-4 armor). Also, I dont have a premium account so which one is quicker to get to? It would really help if you would answer. Nice vid as well.

It depends on the situation. The IS-4 has a flat angled front so it can sit at ranges and angle it's armor. The IS-7 needs to be pushed to the frontlines so it can protect that lower glasis and to put that pre-angled armor to use.
Takt moment when this was the most accurate tank of its era. It had very good gun stabilizers and laying mechanisms.

First replay you should gone behind the destroyed e75 have cover take out the tiger 2 then the tanks down the road by doing side scraping but that's my opinion and what I would of done
Are you planning on getting that new spall liner with +30% ramming and explosions dmg cower in 8.6? Sounds to me like it might do be good for this tank, considering the wonderful ramming potential (fast and heavy tank) and how much big arty there is around in tier 10 matches nowdays.
