This is the first time powering my water heater with this generator and using my new power cord. I'm still working on a separate video all about the capacitor bank I mentioned in several videos. It's a more involved topic than I originally thought.
    The P-25 code:
Simply means that it's time to change the oil 😁. Of coarse there is not a single mention of this in the user manual, but I found the info online. This generator has had a few oil changes prior to this use event, it is currently running on full synthetic 10w 30.
Here is the complete playlist for this generator and my set up: ruclips.net/p/PLIPWY-_PaDCyJz32-aawvlISlu6VBqGFm
Here are the flood videos I mentioned: tinyurl.com/yhs9pw8r
    Where to purchase the G12KBN:
    Amazon -- amzn.to/377zlxD
    ebay -- www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=g12kbn&_sacat=0
    Newegg -- click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=vIAFzDURFJA&mid=44583&murl=www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=G12KBN
Subscribe with bells and that jazz if ya like, but thanks for watchin! Cheers 🍻

Thanks for the video. Have you been able to determine what run time you are getting either on gas or propane at a given load?

    • @Finite-Tuning
      @Finite-Tuning  3 года назад +3

I get asked this basic question very often, I think it's time to make a short and sweet video to answer it with show and tell. But in the meantime, this event is the first time I've run gasoline though this machine. And I ran some gallons for sure! It runs longer and stronger on gasoline, but it also holds more fuel in shot if compared to a 20lb gas grill propane tank.
On propane, most everyone can expect 4-5 hrs run time per tank under normal living conditions. By normal I mean not try to conserve anything, just living life as you normally would.
On gasoline, you can easily expect more runtime at about 1 gal per hour. But I'm sure I can run my house about 12 hours on 8 gallons while living life normally. This thing lasts so much longer on gasoline vs propane, but keep in mind that it also makes more engine power on gasoline. Propane has a lower BTU output than gasoline, so it takes more propane to make similar or equal power. Does that make sense?
Anyway, I think I will make one more video on this genny, and it will be all about fuel, power and runtime.
      Cheers 🍻.

@@Finite-Tuning Thanks for the quick reply. And yes, you're certainly right, per gallon, gas produces more energy than propane. I think it's somewhere in the order of 10% difference or thereabouts. Looking forward to a video from you on runtimes. Enjoyed your video...great job.

Please install an interlock and a proper generator plug. ! That suicide cord is not the big issue if you touch it only you will die. But backfeeding mains to the grid by accident can kill some line working or make him fall from the lift.

Linemen know how to handle electricity the same as I do. There are many free and paid tutorials available for those of you that do not know how to handle electricity and want to learn.

I have identical gen set no problems. However I souly run mine on propane. I don't mind the watt deduction. Ducar engines are not terrible.

I've been quite happy this generator, I do wish it was a bit quieter though. The noise is my only real complaint. Cheers 🍻

Change oil at 25hrs. That is what the internet says a P25 message means

Watch the video please, read the description like I said in the video. And all of a sudden it becomes crystal clear that yes, I know what the code means because I provided this information in the description like I said that I would in the video!
      Cheers 🍻.

      ⚠️Very important announcements to everyone:
Please don’t forget to follow the generator safety tips when you use your portable generator. This is just a reminder to make sure. All generator safety rules need to be followed carefully whenever you use your portable generator.
      1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Be aware of all the hazards.
      2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Not even at your porch and your deck. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house.
3)🔥FIRE HAZARDS: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules.
      4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords.
ruclips.net/video/I1jT3ANENvI/видео.html and here is a video more about keeping others safe when using generators
      Hope this helps

I run my computer with it. But I also have a line conditioner and surge suppression for it.
If your cell phone works you can use the internet.
It is slow but OK for basic low band width applications. In other words no gaming. Oh and unlimited upload/download may mean only with normal phone function.
Tethering is not normal. Yep there is a data cap for that. It will go from slow to really slow. Some sites will time out on you when that happens.
I don't use a phone for any thing that using a mouse and keyboard is just better for. Besides a a 27" screen beats any iPhone.
