In this video, I analyse his magnificent performance, explain and demonstrate his vocal techniques and I'll tell you what I think made it so great. Olympico was the first collaborative work which Russian composer Igor Krutoy and Russian poetess Liliya Vinogradova created for Dimash. It was written specifically for the Opening ceremony of the II European games in Minsk in 2019. According to professionals, the cantata “Olimpico” is an outstanding piece of music in its character, energy, unusually wide range and interval jumps. It was written for the exceptional vocal capabilities that Dimash Kudaibergen has, and currently only he is able to perform it.

For me, this Krutoy masterpiece created especially for Dimash's voice is like an analogy to a duet between Zeus and Hera cheering on the athletes in the Olimpic Games of ancient Greece. I had that vision while watching Dimash for the first time making those magical transitions from tenor to soprano and vice versa. Dimash Qudaibergen won the Victoria Award for the best classical singer in Russia with this song on December 5, 2019. Dimash was awarded "Best Vocalist of Classical Music" with this Olimpico-Ogni Pietra song, beating established baritones, tenors and sopranos who had sung that year incredibly. By the way, on that occasion Dimash dethroned the great soprano Anna Netrebko by winning "Vocalist of the year in classical music". He achieved what seemed impossible: overtaking the Austro-Russian Opera Diva who for three consecutive years had been recognized as the best in this category. Among the eight nominees was also Aida Garifullina. He also won, along with another young singer, I think was a rapper, they shared the award for "Discovery of the Year". This song also made the composer Igor Krutoy winner of the Victoria Award "Song of the Year". Russia's "Victoria" National Music Awards are considered the Russian equivalent of the Grammy Awards.

in ikanaide 2021, he also has a moment where he's in high register and switches to low/normal without closing his mouth and his neck is wide and "distorted" like you mention here. i noticed he does that a lot for his high notes, depending on the song and what is needed from his vocals.
he also does it in unforgettable day gakku, which you've reacted to, when he does the whistle d8. i've noticed it many times but never really thought anything of it.
He is falling out of his cloud and now we have the chance to hear this magical sounds

👉 This song was written specifically for Dimash and the opening ceremony of the II European games in Minsk in 2019. It was the first work that Igor Krutoy and Liliya Vinogradova created for Dimash.
Igor Krutoy, *1954 in Ukrainian SSSR), singer and songwriter in Ukrainian and Honored Artist and music titan in Russia (billionaire). He is a world- famous composer who came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. The maestro and Dimash have been working together from time to time since 2018. They are friends and have a father-son relationship.
Lilia Vinogradova wrote the grandios lyrics and is known as a permanent co-author of the composer Igor Krutoy, with whom has created wonderful works in the crossover genre. They created the cycle for DA Hvorostovsky, albums for Sumi Jo, Anna Netrebko, Yusif Aivazov, Lara Fabian and others. This is the second song (first 'Oimpico') that Krutoy and Vinogradova created for Dimash.
When she asked why she did it in Italian, the poet replied: “First, Italian is by definition the international language of music, the language that allows the vocalist to open up as much as possible. This is the best language for singing...
And secondly, I. Y. Krutoy and me have a well-established tradition of writing most of our works in Italian when creating in the crossover genre.”
Lilia Vinogradova says about Dimash: 'Imagine a diamond that is born in the bowels of the earth - And now it appears in the light of God, and people have the opportunity to look at it, touch it, and enjoy it. Dimash’s natural talent is akin to such a unique gem…. Nothing is more important in art than identity… And it’s not even the number of octaves that Dimash covers with his voice, not the technical capabilities, but the extent to which his soul, the scale of his personality, his mind, intellect and feelings can match his technical, vocal data… And now we've added Dimash as a new element to our creative symbiosis. Dimash is an opera singer too and so he sings this song in Italian (the language of music), with an opera voice (Bariton - Sopran). No one else then Dimash can sing this song alone.
In December 2019, the song “Olimpico” performed by Dimash Kudaibergen became the Song of the Year 2019 in Russia. The authors of the composition shared the triumph with the artist.
