    • @lomahtw
      @lomahtw 2 года назад +20

the Grammy is commercial, pop, rap, country, rock and English language. Dimash's music is in between. his music has those genre but also doesn't technically. his music may not fit the taste of American general public. also always remember the Grammy doesn't accept songs not sung in English. furthermore there are always many factors other than singing. a few years ago Dimash did give it a try to in the US music mainstream and tested the water. however it didn't end up well (not because of his singing talent). I guess Dimash is happy with who he is, what he is having and what he is doing in music. maybe one day he would come back and try the US market again. for the time being, he should rather be doing what he wants to with music instead of thinking of the Grammy, the US market and/or anything like that.

💥35K people from 68 countries💥came together in love, in solidarity, in peace in an Almaty, KZ stadium on 9-23-22 for the 4 hour concert (31 songs, I'm told) given by the young Kazakh musician whose divine voice touches souls & changes hearts. Below please read the brief speech that DQ gave to the audience before singing his newest composition, "The Story of One Sky." Sending this to you & yours, Dear, with Much Love & In Solidarity while Praying for Peace.
"Many thanks dear friends, before I perform the next song, let me say a few words. Thank you very much.
We, the people sitting in this stadium, each of us is different, not totally alike one another, but we are all God's children, each of us with different talents.
And, as I mentioned just now, right now is a bad time. In fact, I am not satisfied with the present situation.
I have not seen how such situations evolved in the past, therefore I don't know what will happen next.
But many people are suffering today because of a few individuals, it's really true.
We, we the adults, consider ourselves to be "smarter" than the small children and innocents, but while we do our best to teach and educate our children,
we forget that we also have some things to learn from those children.
They are pure-hearted, kind, friendly, untainted and without egos and their love for people are pure. Young children have such qualities.
I started writing this song I'm about to perform, three years ago.
Generally speaking, my main purpose in writing this work is to call for peace in the world.
It's a small composition that has burst out from deep within my heart.
To tell you truth, many thanks to god and with your wishes I traveled to many parts of the world and met many different people during my tours.
One thing I understood is that if you look at ordinary people, there is no such thing as a bad nationality, there is no bad nationality!
I don't need to tell you what you already know about the reason for mentioning the topic of nationality here...
Let there be peace in the world, Let there be peace. Let there be no war.
Let no people, let no nationality, let no country suffer!
Because after all, ordinary individuals, ordinary people are not at fault.
The truth of the matter is, no ordinary person is guilty of starting a war!
That's why the next song I'll be performing in your honor is about our common fate under one sky, it's called "The Story of One Sky".
    Hope you like it."

This is by far the best explaination I have found. It was written by Heiderose Kober:
This is subtitled "Requiem” but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism.
It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting.
Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I only touch on some of what struck me in the symbolism. The music is a dissertation all by itself.
The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. (Thank you, Snarky Tart for that information).
In the MV, (the taller child) who later becomes the military commander, never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, (the drowning boy), gives his friend the pendant. The camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl (later Dimash's Wife and the mother of his daughter who is killed). Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral l compass.
Later, we see a version of the gnomon as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through rendering it useless as a compass. When we lose the original intent of a symbol by twisting it into something it is not or by just paying lip service, it no longer has any spiritual meaning. At best it becomes a useless prop, at worst it is used to mislead and manipulate people. Contemporary music is also present: With the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon.
It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way.
The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment, we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war.
The Piper's call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let's remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence.
That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support the war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against?
The burning sign "Waldenberg" is a reference to the end of WWII when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht close to the end of the war in April 1945 in the part of Germany where I grew up. I have seen the aftermath of war as I was born a few years later when much of Germany was still in rubble. Waldenburg is only 28 miles from my hometown and was completely destroyed as you can see from the picture. Many of the dead in those bombed-out buildings were women and children. The good guys defeated evil but at what price?
War is not the answer. We must find better ways to keep evil in check. iowaculture.gov/.../american-troops-move-through The last movement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and birth are both sacraments and are interwoven in the tapestry of life.
Dimash's vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that buffets the pilgrims and hinder progress. The fog of war obscures the light.
When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the "sacred womb" of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy, and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering.
He breaks the wheel of endless war and suffering by choosing life. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as exemplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby.
The blowing of the shofar signals God's mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right: in the Zohar, the book of Jewish mysticism, it says: “When human beings repent of their sins, they blow the shofar on earth. Its sound ascends On High and awakens the heavenly shofar, and so mercy is aroused and judgment is removed.”
Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash's character in the form of his son becomes a spiritual guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage, race, and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect.
Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
This is what Dimash has done with this work; he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time. We don’t have to wait. We can start right now. As the hymn tells us: "Let there peace in the world, and let it begin with me." Baraka Bashad.

What I love about Dimash is that he does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story.
How can you not admire and respect such a wholesome artist with a beautiful heart and soul?
Dimash’s song, video, and message are so powerful and compelling: The Story of One Sky - that Dimash composed himself - is a heartfelt plea for peace and unity. Thus, although we are divided into different countries, races and faiths, we all share the same sky.
We could feel his pain, passion, and desperation in his heavy metal like scream because he truly cares.
Dimash has found his calling as an artist: presenting his Kazakh culture to the world, but also spreading compassion, love, respect, and unity through his voice and music.
Indeed, in this short film (it’s more than a simple MV at this point!), Dimash is showing us that war is NOT the path to peace. War does not unite people like the antagonist preaches; but leads to “senseless horror”, destruction, grief, and death. At the end, he shows us the alternative to war by leading people from different faiths and cultures to the true path of peace and unity.
At last, I admire Dimash’s strong conviction and courage. I hope that his heartfelt cry for peace and unity will be heard by many people around the world.
Thank you so, so much for your genuine appreciation of Dimash’s talent and work. The Story of One Sky is such a compelling masterpiece!
    We’re choosing life… ☮️💟

These are my views on this amazing masterpiece The Story of One Sky - I have watched this many times and still find things out that i never thought of amazing video and i have said it before if anyone could bring peace i strongly believe Dimash could make it possible. This needs to be shared worldwide to show people there is another way. War is never the answer because the only ones to suffer are the innocent. Rewatched the song of Dimash today one line stood out to me One of the most profound lines in The Story of One Sky is the line "Learn to share the love, Not shares" Not shares meaning stop making money out of war rich people have many shares in companies that profit from weapon manufacturing making them richer while the innocent suffer sadly this is why war exists. MONEY, GREED and POWER.
The part in the video with the little girl and the people in the hallway were Dimash's family who had been wiped out the little girl whose body he picked up was his daughter, the baby that was born was his son who grew up to be Dimash grown up at the end!!! The Dimash at the end can also be seen as Dimash in the afterlife leading others to the light in peace. This video needs to be shown worldwide. Something else i noticed is in his dying breath he sang (We're Choosing Life) as he finally passed away now that is powerful

I’ve been checking out different reactions to this absolutely astonishing production of incredible music and film. Numerous reactors have had their eyes well up with tears… but you’re the first one I’ve seen where the tears actually fell. The passage of the song where he adds such hard distortion to his voice, just bowls me over and knocks me down. I cannot get over the force with which he sings. And this work of art seems in some ways that it cannot be topped.

This music video is like an iron fist to the face to make us wake up from our indolence, our laziness, our materialism, our irresponsibility. It makes us see what war really means. Dimash has created a gigantic work of art, of immeasurable human value and philosophical depth. And he has presented it to us through a moving, shocking, devastatingly intense performance. Only a genius could have created something like this.

Well, some considerations: (1) The artifact that the boy found in the trunk and that was turned into necklaces is a "gnomon", a needle for a sundial (a rustic device for keeping time); (2) The name "Piper" (piper, or piper) is known as a synonym for "dictator", "despot": This originates from the tale of the "Pied Piper of Hamelin" (folk tale rewritten by the Brothers Grim), where a piper was hired to deal with the rat infestation of the city of Hamelin (Germany, 1284). After hypnotizing the rats with his magic flute and drowning them in the Weser, the artist went to collect the amount owed (one coin per head) and was not paid (they alleged that he did not present the "heads" of the rats). He then hypnotized one hundred and thirty children from the city of Hamelin and locked them in a cave. Yeah, well, the "pied piper" (also called "ratcatcher") has become synonymous with the tyrant who uses a mesmerizing speech and leads to death! (3) The term "Imagine" refers to the song of the same name by John Lennon; (4) The final text is part of the document generated at the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) on 09/14/2022 and was attended by Pope Francis, representing the Catholic Church.

Thank you! Fabulous analysis and observations. I truly appreciate the work that you put in this video of Dimash's masterpiece. Dimash performed this for the council on religions that convened in Kazakhstan. The Pope was there and awarded a medal of gold to Dimash. The live performance in Dimash's concert showed (from fancam, can't wait for the official) how Dimash poured everything into this song and vocals. I am stunned by the ability, the creativity, the compassion and love, the professionalism and more that comes from this 28yr. old. Truly amazing.

DIMASH MADE MUSIC HISTORY He stands on the shoulders of the great pianist and composer Franz Liszt (invented the form, composed the first one in the 1800s and changed music forever) in composing this classical "Symphonic Tone Poem". Then scored it for orchestra, choir, himself and sang it, acted it and put in movie, not video format, juggernauting it into 21st century music and visual arts history ! A first of its kind, a seminal 3 year effort, and brilliant ! Thank you for showcasing this genius, Renaissance Man. Pat

In this special "The Story of One Sky", created by Dimash, I advise you to watch this MV (almost a short film) and then watch its live performance again, in Almaty, Kazakhstan: In the short, appreciation of the voice, the vocal techniques, images, plot, message, Dimash's performance and the whole context of this magnificent work. In the live show we realized that everything he did, vocally, in the video, is real!

    • @mmsminimalmusic3110
      @mmsminimalmusic3110 2 года назад +5

Well, the problem with your claim is that he didn't sing that live at his concert: it was clearly playback, completely identical to the video track. Also, after more than 3 h of live singing there is no way you can sing that track live and not kill your voice. Not even Dimash. And he's the best of the best.

@@mmsminimalmusic3110 The truth is that the two soundtracks, the video and the Almaty concert, are different in essential ways. 1. The oriental song part is different. 2. The rock part that starts in Almatay with easy running on stage and continues with taking off the jacket is also different. 3. I'm not talking about the ending anymore! 4. the duration of the two soundtracks is different! In fact, Dimash got us used to singing at the same supreme vocal level in concerts. In 2018, he sang Diva Dance at the end of a concert of about 3 and a half hours and it was different from any other version we know! And this at that first concert at the stadium at his home in Kazakhstan! It's probably hard to accept this, but it also means that you haven't seen and heard too many of Dimash's interpretations!

Thank you for your reaction. Yes, Dimash put a lot of his vocal and performance abilities and skills into one piece. Like you said, there is so much going on in this piece. I agree, and I have mentioned this on someone else's reaction that Dimash should receive the Nobel Peace Prize for this song because nit only in this song, but overall, that is what this young man is advocating - Peace on earth.
Check out his stage performance of this song, simply because "seeing is believing" what he does vocally.
This brings to mind that you must be like heaven to/for your students, having you as their vocal coach. You bring the vocals of artist to life by your rigorous and stunning demonstrations, adding to that your description of the different parts used to produce sound. On that score, you are a stunner.
