No one would have a problem with family separation if it was done purely for the reasons the law was written and handled in an organized, humane way. Instead, the way it’s handled is just downright cruel. If you don’t have the logistical ability to enforce a law properly, you don’t do it until you have the right structures in place. This has been true for every law until Trump came around. This law existed under Obama, too, but somehow he didn’t do even a fraction of the unethical shit that has happened on Trumps watch. We have lost track of kids, tons of kids whose parents we sent away without the kid, and still others who it wouldn’t even help if their parents were here because we don’t know who they are. These were all easily predictable consequences of Trump’s policy.

The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with a trumpf supporter.
The problem is, the core concept of giving voting rights to the entire adult population is based on the ideal that the right to vote should only be given to a person who is a) an adult with life experience, b) mentally sane, c) well informed of geopolitical and sociopolitical topics, with some grasp of how government is organized, d) capable of rational instead of magical thinking, e) willing to put the greater good of the country above personal gain or tribal in-group loyalty. Large parts of the population in the USA and other countries do not fulfil those criteria. Instead the USA limits access to voting by purging people who have been jailed at any time in their life for any offense no matter how minor from the voter rolls (at least in some states) or makes it otherwise hard for the poor to vote, or doctors voting districts via gerrymandering.
The best way to change a Trump supporter is Retroactive abortion.
