Honestly, that’s accurate. Twice, I saw this channel and others breathlessly report some juicy tidbits that heavily implied that all these discussions were contentious and hostile. Based on “sources close to” whoever.
Then I’d see the actual person they were talking about, describing a very different interaction, in an interview. Both times, the person talked not about electability, but the concern that Biden was injuring his health by pushing too hard.
The electability issue focused on the fact that it’s really unfair to present a candidate that may or may not even make it to inauguration.
These channels leaned into the spicy gossip angle to a really disappointing degree. In future I’m going to assume that any secondhand or thirdhand report they pass on to us, is completely fallacious, nothing more than dressed up gossip.
Do a report on how all the same polls were off by 5-
20 percentage points in the 2022 midterms.
And off by 5+ total points in 2016, polls are just picked to make people feel better
The polling average was off by one point in each of the last two midterms and underestimated Trump by two points in 2020. The media glorifies outlier polls, which is probably why you feel like they were off significantly even though they weren't as a whole.
Trump wasn't on the ballot in 2022 and many Trump voters love Trump but don't trust the republicans.
A more accurate comparison would be the 2020 presidential election which massively overstated Democrat support

There was study done on polling, and it showed that the majority of polling was done by Republicans, and only a very few Democrats spent time on polling. Because of this. It always shows that Republicans are ahead. It’s why Obama looked like he was behind in the polls in 2008 and 2012 and Biden in 2020.

When I still listened to NPR about 15 years ago, the show host (Diane Rheems?) had an older pollster as a guest talking about polling and how it's changed. He said that in the 1960s, there were only landlines without call screening. They had a 90% response rate then. He said that today (15 years ago), pollsters are lucky to get a 50% response rate rate. He said that polling today is terribly unreliable due to modern technology (cell phones, call screening) and lack of responses

Don't try to unskew the pools. Polls are much more accurate now than when they were getting 90% response rate. These people aren't amateurs this is what they do all day every day. They know what they're doing and it's safe to assume that polls give you a semi accurate view of the election at the time of the pool. There is always error but massive errors are very rare. Even 2016 wasn't that big of an error.

I find it quite strange that these polls are supposedly being conducted EVERYWHERE, yet most have never been approached to participate. I'm 41 years old and have never been asked. I've even inquired among my family, friends, and acquaintances, and none of them have been approached either. It's quite interesting to me. 🤔🤨 😂
I was polled in 2012. There are 300 million citizens and they only need to poll about 1000 to get a good sample. After 10 thousand polls, a given person has a 3% chance of being polled at least once. For a 50% chance, it takes about 200 thousand polls.

I find it strange that people find it strange. They mostly call non-private lines during the work day, which means mostly land lines. They also focus almost entirely on battleground states. They also call only about 1000-1500 people. So basically, they get a handful of retired old people who pick up unknown numbers in battleground states. That said, my cell number must've ended up on someone's list at some point, because at 43, I've been getting calls several times a year for years.

Well, as I’ve lived almost 60 years in America and have never once been “polled”, nor has anyone in my family, nor anyone else I’ve asked. I’d be interested to know who actually gets polled and how do we know which are partisan or not? Apparently there are enormous swaths of US citizens who are never asked. I know Kellyanne Conway was a former pollster and there are partisan organizations all over the place we know use polls as propaganda. Do we even have oversight over any of this?

How can a poll within 24 hours be accurate? These numbers are fuzzy
They are using some polls from the 2020 election and polls from before the debate and shortly after.
Those are the numbers that is not the issue the issue is the number of people polled. Where they were polled. What questions were asked. Did the people answer honestly. Did they change thier minds an hour later.
The largest poll I have seen only talked to 3,000 people. They then run that number through equations to make it fit over an entire population.
When the truth is that poll was only accurate for those 3,000 people at that place and time.
That is all that anu poll can speak for the moment in time that it was taken and it only speaks for the people polled.
They have hypothetical polls of Harris vs Trump from 2023... Let that sink in!

The VP's approval rating is essentially the presidents approval rating, if she is allowed to continue as the candidate then she will be able to develop her own national identity in peoples minds over the coming months as they view her independently from the Biden presidency.
No one really knows what a VP does so it is just a reflection of the president.
Because for at least 90% of voters this is still a referendum on Trump as a person, whether you love or hate him. Third GOP candidate in a row and still unlikely to win a single popular vote. It'll come down to the opinions of a couple million people combined across like ten states

1. It's all about the swing states. Only very few people get to decide who will be President.
2. Poll results in the US have always been not very telling in general for some reason. Probably not independent, not representative, many people change their decision by whim and many people too busy to take part in polls.
3. Many Americans wanted neither Trump nor Biden. That should give the new Democratic candidate a big edge, whoever it will be.

You weren't listening and watching carefully. These were not polls done after Biden dropped out. Kornacki explained that what he was showing was a total average of national polls from after the national debate but BEFORE Biden dropped out. The dates of the polling are shown on Kornacki's screen at the beginning (2:25).

I'd answer some of the polls I've been sent, but when ever I've clicked on them they want me to donate to a campaign with no way of not proceeding without a donation.
So I really don't know who actually is answering any polls. I've never been asked to do a poll that wasn't tied into something like that which is crazy, I'm an unaffiliated voter.
If they're calling, then these people are only getting poll numbers from people who are willing to answer random phone calls that never indicate who they are unless you answer.

Her numbers don't mean spit. She wasn't the top of the ticket when the polls were taken. Be interesting to see them in a couple of weeks for both parties.
