  • The Ukrainian state agency in charge of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant says operations at the Russian-occupied facility have been fully stopped as a safety measure. Engineers have shut down the sixth and final reactor amid growing concern at the risk posed by fighting in the region.
This comes as a sweeping Ukrainian counteroffensive has driven Russian forces out of dozens of communities in eastern Ukraine.
Kyiv says it has liberated around two thousand square kilometers of its territory in recent days - and the operation is ongoing around cities including Izyum, Balakliya and Kupiansk. Russia says it's withdrawing some of its forces from the region.

The big question before this Kupiansk/Izium operation was whether the Ukrainian army could attack effectively without incurring enormous casualties, and the answer is most definitely that they can. The Russians have suffered enough casualties overall to become strategically ineffective. Poor planning is plaguing the Russians, Ukraine has not been that brilliant most of their attacks have been purely opportunistic sometimes not even planned well because the Russians are mostly out in the open sitting in tank tops any army could easily strike them even Somalia with those laxed attitude to a hostile zone 😆

I believe Russia was making small gains only because they had overwhelming ammunition and especially missiles. They haven't demonstrated ANY ability to actually fight. The Ukranians were giving up small pieces of ground in order to allow Russia to expend too much ammunition, and prevent losing too many soldiers, while they waited for the advanced weaponry from the West. The Himars and other GPS eliminated the Russian advantage. The regrouping for Russia will be pointless, especially since they have lost their best soldiers and not trained well to fight outdated weapons and the Himars eliminating anything significant that comes to the battlefield.
The bureaucrats, like in many cases of war (like in Afghanistan) can cause either side to lose, REGARDLESS of advanced weaponry.

what russia is doing : A scorched-earth policy is a military strategy that aims to destroy anything that might be useful to the enemy. Any assets that could be used by the enemy may be targeted, which usually includes obvious weapons, transport vehicles, communication sites, and industrial resources. However, anything useful to the advancing enemy may be targeted, including food stores and agricultural areas, water sources, and even the local people themselves, though the last has been banned under the 1977 Geneva Conventions.[a]

It's a good job that they weren't waiting for munitions from Germany, France or Belgium. These countries have contributed next to nothing compared to their GDPs.
