Silica is a crossover of FPS and RTS where up to 3 factions battle for control over the planet of Baltarus. Lead from above as commander, or experience the action first-hand, either alone, or with friends. Join one of two human armies, or hunt them down as the territorial aliens.

i think, it's not bad idea, if u can make game PLANETARY scale, like a planetary annihilation, with sea, ground, air and space units with a small planetary system (star + several planets)
Can You add were the teams have the color of the team, but you have the option to enable or disable it for the humans because the aliens don't have bug vs bug Also keep chasing your dreams, I have hope in that you will become a rich and famous game developer.
An RTS/FPS is a hard mix-up to nail. Good luck Martin! I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on it

The responses have been wonderful and I really look forward to enjoying the game with everyone :D Sure it may have a rough patch here and there, but that's why Early Access makes sense, to tweak and polish, improve and adjust to make it an experience we all enjoy.

I just discovered this game today and I must say I'm very excited to see how it turns out! it would be sick if there was a game mode where the captain of the army was playing in RTS cam, controlling AI units and making buildings and such, and the army would have "hero units" which are controller by the players in FPS game mode. there are so many untapped potentials in an RTS&FPS game it's crazy.
I will try my best to follow the development of this project, best of luck Martin!
edit: Omg I'm watching "Silica - Strategy Gameplay Walkthrough (Human Faction)" video now and what I described is exactly how it's going to work. that is SO SICK

Very Excited for this game!!! I have 2000 hrs in Natural Selection 2 and StarCraft 2, so this is right up my alley! I will 100% convince all 7 of my gamer friends to get this game :D
Super excited for this! I love FPS, I love RTS, I love the hybrids.
Seeing the trailer and this video gives me very fond, nostalgic memories from C&C Renegade in Multiplayer.
I've been super fascinated with this genre mix ever since, I've played Executive Assault 1 and 2 (though didn't like it very much), Natural Selection 2 (fantastic, Empires mod for Source engine (fantastic), Call to Arms - Gates of Hell (pretty good too), Cepheus Protocol (very junky but cool idea) and even the unfortunate Pantropy. I am a huge fan of Mount & Blade too as it gives you the detail and depth of building your own character and fighting in battles yourself which is fun, but also the higher level strategizing on the campaign and battlefield - what an amazing blend.
What I mean to say is - this is a space that I have been looking for for a long time and your game answers my wishes. I'm really looking forward to it! This may end up being the first early access game where I actively contribute with feedback - I really want to see you succeed.

This game is amazing so far! Just the early access has so much attention to detail.
Downloaded it today after watching some youtubers play,love what your doing and where your going,love the big maps.
Ive only sunk a couple hours into it now but I am totally in love with it. Hope the game eventually maximizes its potential. Keep up the great work and congrats on being able to work on your dream!

Love this idea for a game, the only thing I think this game NEEDS to atleast keep it alive is multiple factions for the races. Giving diversity to your factions gives a lot of options, opportunities and experiences to both players and the devs.
Also allows battles between same races so sol vs sol or bugs vs bugs like military vs pirates/mercenaries and one breed of hive vs another.
I’ve wanted this exact game from the moment I played Battlezone II back in the day. I don’t know if it inspired this project in any way, but there’s definitely a community of us out here who always wanted this game!
I really hope this comes to consoles. Seems really fun
great idea, sound execution, pure fun and really glad you pursued the concept and stuck with it, it is a joy to play nothing but smiles - I play commander alot but in love with arena lol never would have guessed oh love the bugs they are absolutely legit to play they have focus great great job
I’ve played a couple hours and it gives me such a starship troopers vibe and I’ve had such a blast! I will admit though, the RTS aspect caught me off guard cause I didn’t know what unit did what and how to build my base until watching your other videos. Other than that, FANTASTIC work so far and I hope it continues to grow!!!
Ps. The marksman is a fantastic class and the bullet physics are very easy to get a grasp of! Really good work!
honestly bohemia should take a chance on this game and send some devs over to help martin. Game can be something great with more people working on it

I'm glad I decided to actually give this a look. My best friend and I often struggle to find games we both want to play. I love playing as individuals on the ground while he loves commanding large forces - looks like this fits the bill!

When all the core game is done, I'd really enjoy some sort of campaign in the fashion of starcraft, played coop with friends. I'm pretty sure that could be a great feature for the game itself.

I've bought the game in early access. It has a lot of potential. The Aliens are why I got the game and they are by far the best. Still needs work like the AI pathing and UI ping changes which will come, so I'm anticipating the updates

The multiplayer model fits Arma communities quite well.
have you consider adding City management element and a strategy map to this game? Building a biodome in a desert planet and protecting it so it can generate manpower resources for your army can be quite challenging and interesting

This reminds me a lot of those Starship Troopers mods for Arma/Squad.
Martin this game looks so fantastic I am very excited to play it! I do hope It takes off and people love it so that maybe you can be given a bigger team and more resources in the future and we might get to see that original vision, ever since playing the online game ERIDANI as a kid I've been wanting a fps/strategy game that allows you to conquer multiple planets and fight against enemies in large scale galactic war. FPS for vehicles is not currently planned, mainly because of two reasons:
- Requires a large number of cockpits to be modelled
- Fluidity of control is reduced as turning a slow turret in this view means either slow response or looking into the wall of the turret for a while etc
