I (actually) abridged another BANNED Pokemon Episode to about a minute! (EP 35)

The episode were a park ranger aims a gun at Ash's face and opens fire on Team Rocket!
Here we are at the Safari Zone - for real this time - for the banned episode most people think of when they say "banned Pokemon episode."
As a reminder, unlike the previous banned episode, The Legend of Dratini is NOT counted in North America's official episode numbering. As the "(actually) abridged" series uses the Bulbapedia numbering, all of our episodes from now on will be 1 behind the NA numbers, and 2 behind Netflix's episode numbers.
Some of you may be wondering why I chose to re-sub footage that already had subtitles in it.
The main reason is that as part of the abridging process, I often have to cut apart conversations and move footage around. This means that a lot of the time the text on-screen did not match what was being said.
So in the end, I made the decision to re-do all of the subtitles from scratch.

An entire pack of Tauros with a single Safari Ball, right? Wild
In all seriousness, the unabridged episode actually only shows Ash catching two Tauros on-screen -- one on purpose (shown, briefly @ 0:54) and one by accident (It dives in front of a ball he'd thrown at a Rhyhorn).
So even in the original episode, the Tauros reveal at the end was a surprise, foreshadowed only by the part where he tells Jessie he'd "used all the safari balls." (1:09)

@@SpeedBoostTorchictotally weird. Why would the movie producers make something as abnormal as make Ash catch 30 Tauros when he can catch only 1. He could have used the rest of the balls to catch other pokemons.
So THAT'S how he got all those tauros. I was so confused before when Ash was stampeded by a bunch of his own tauros at Prof Oak's ranch, that I never remembered him catching.
This episode was WEIRD… the only time in the first Gen that we have Dragonair and Dratini, and we didn’t get it.
On the plus side, Clint Eastwood is apparently the Warden of the Safari Zone!
Well, we did get dynamax Dragonite in episode 13.
That episode's portrayal of Dragonite as a mysterious legendary Pokemon from across the ocean would've made a lot less sense with this episode for context!

A few years later, 4Kids managed to successfully replace guns with super shakers and a springy hammer.
They just straight edited them out with no replacement for the Duelist Kingdom arc (and thereafter, if applicable) in Yu-Gi-Oh. Security guards were just randomly closing most of their fists with thumbs up at Seto.😆

If only 4kids editing technology was up to snuff at the time. All they'd have to do is color it blue, add some rings, a ball at the end, a lightning bolt, and call it laser 😂.
Its even funnier to me that the old man refuses to even listen to team rocket, instead, he almost instantly. Draws and shoots, from what i can tell he also wasn't going for a warning shot. James very well could have lost his life right here by getting fucking capped by an old man with his six-shooters
Pretty bold of Ash to dive in to fetch a bomb and toss it back just in the nick of time. Most kids that age had enough trouble with the dam level in NES TMNT. Then again, this is the kid who thought punching the Ultimate Life Form was a good idea.
In this original episode this is the biggest example of plot-armor I've ever seen.
Initially, it's Kaiser that jumps in after the bomb, then Ash jumps in - saves Kaiser, and sends Kaiser back up without surfacing himself. Spends 4 minutes looking for the bomb before he runs out of air. Falls unconscious for a minute and half - and finally is revived and rescued by Dragonair.
The entire sequence takes almost 7 minutes, and the bomb never explodes.

0:37 this part gets me everytime, Jessie and James were ready to make their speech but Kaiser doesn't give a shit and shoots at them without question x)) and to be honest i really liked Kaiser's character even this episode who was funny and interesting at the same time like the Beauty and the Beach with James's boobs part ^^

The majority of people like that are criminals in cities. My brother once was almost shot while he was ordering McDonalds because he accidentally cut in front of some person standing so far out of line; he told him, "'m pop a cap in your ass outside, cracka'." I think it was a little funny, because my brother had no idea what he had just said and, in kind, told the man his breath smelled bad. Criminals are all around the world, though. For the most part, Americans who own guns keep them locked away. This scene in Pokemon is not at all like America, and is in fact very scary and offensive. I'm glad it was banned here. It would do nothing well in teaching children appropriate gun safety; not to mention it's entirely illegal to threaten someone like that so frivolously.

It's weird to me that this episode was banned on the US, I remember watching this here in Spain without any problem.
I've always thought that 90's anime in my country were translations from French (Dragon ball for instance) who also went from English before, so it surprised me to know this one was banned in the US.
Imagine making a Clint Eastwood reference, mostly tailored for overseas only to get banned. F.
I'm just laughing imagining the someone working on the show being like being like "What do people overseas like? Pizza? Cute things? Ah I know! Clint Eastwood and GUNS"

@@bayardkyyako7427 Actually, there was a translator's note that Jessie was making a pun here that's impossible to translate into English. So I had the idea for the "yeet" pun.
In other words, while the "yeet" wording specifically was added by me, it is true that Jessie makes a joke there.

By definition, puns rely on wordplay using linguistic expressions or similar pronunciations. This wordplay is unlikely to work in a different language with a whole new set of words. Hence why standard practice in localization is to just use a new joke to replace it.

Safari Balls are used to keep people from overhunting. It's explained in the episode.

Which means you get unlimited Pokemon

I am so used to arabic and english dub that I can't tolerate the actual japanese for pokemon
You know thought occurred most of the 4Kids voice actors that did Pokemon back in the day have retired, it WOULD be entirely possible to recreate this episode using their voice actors (and a few new ones). You know filling the gaps that the old 4Kids dub left behind.
You would need a lot of money and Pull to do that though.
who knows they makr a "project banned" where they dub all banned episode will be dubed and yes somehow those legends will recover a.i solider porygon cause its banned everywhere even japan
