Absolutely delighted with how this came out... especially since it took multiple months to edit to the standard these athletes deserve. Who needs media credentials? Also, it has been 3 years so I have followed a lot of these people since then!
I'm not a rower, and I'm a year late to this video, but somehow the algorithm brought me here. You tell some great stories. I failed to qualify to my own national team by one spot last year, so the looks on some of these athletes faces hit home hard. I hope in the future you get the accreditation you deserve, so you can keep telling amazing stories and showing some amazing athletes.
This video is phenomenal! You can actually feel the anxiety and nerves at the beginning before anyone races. Extreme level competitions like this don’t get enough recognition.
Stroke seat of the USA women’s double was my coach. She basically taught me how to row past basics. I’m very proud of how far she got in the actual Olympics.
Dudeeee! So good. God I wish you were given media credentials, such a missed opportunity by the rowing world. A lot of people don’t realize the potential behind a story until they’ve already lived thru it and it’s too late. Bravo for seizing the opportunity and sending it. Keep innovating, more and more things like these will come once everyone else wakes up and sees what you can do
Hahaha thanks Ian - like you keep saying, keep creating and just become impossible to be ignored. Next time, I’ll somehow bring you along and we’ll create the most insane videos the rowing world has ever seen.
One story I have that I didn’t mention was Tom Pezsek’s, the stroke of the US Men’s Pair. He went to the 2012 London games in the pair and finished 8th overall. He missed out on the 2016 Rio games in the pair by a boat length in the US Olympic trials. He missed the 2020 Tokyo games by a boat length here at FOQR, so it was just heart wrenching to see.
Great shots, Eamon! I myself was there racing in the men's fours for Ukraine, and realising that you finally will miss those games was very hard to swallow😑🙂
Thanks man, glad you liked them! You guys gave it a hell of a push for the games, so no one can fault you for it. I'm just glad I was there to see the fight. If you decide to continue on, I wish you the best of luck in the next few years for Paris!
A bit late to the game, but just wanted to say that the colour correction, depth of field just absolutely stunning. Can't imagine how much effort went into this. Amazing work!!
Eamon, this is a great film - really captures the emotion and the sheer beauty of the sport. In a way, you were better off making the movie on the "outside" - the whole thing was a lot more natural and you ended up with those emotional post-finish sequences
Ah cheers for the kind words Martin! It definitely made me get creative, that’s for sure. Would have loved to be at the start line and awards dock, but then I definitely would have missed a ton of other things as well. Can only be in so many places at once and this forced me to choose certain ones that may have been better suited to the story!
I agree. You sat on the bank right down next to the water and were able to show what the commercial coverage just doesn’t capture. And rowers knew you and you them making this competition sooooo personal. What an outstanding editing job. ‼️‼️‼️👍
@@EamonGlavinWould be great to see you in spring. I live 20 minutes away from Rotsee by car so I'll definitely try to attend the FOQR, but sadly we also have a national regatta on Saturday and Sunday.

Awesome video. Every once in a while you come across a video that’s about something that you’ve never even though about but still manages to pull you in like you’ve spent your entire life dedicated to it. Keep it up
Wow! Just wow! I love that this popped up on my youtube page two years after you released it. I don't follow rowing (besides the Olympics themselves as I'm a Kiwi and follow the Kiwis!) but its hard not to get emotional watching this, just brilliant. Not only documenting the whole event, but the beautiful cinematography, excellent editing, and capturing the raw emotions of everyone. Thank you for this!
I raced here in the lightweight double and I raced at the world championships, this race was definitely the race I remember the best. It was the highlight of my international racing career.
beautifully filmed/narrated. even as someone completely unfamiliar to the sport, i thoroughly enjoyed/understood the significance of this event. thank you for this video :)
Great filming there! Absolutely nailed it to capture the unique and astonishing atmosphere of the Rotsee. I've been there several times as a fan and a spectator... There is no Regatta on earth matching this atmosphere! And you did an incredible Hommage here, for rowing, the athletes and the Rotsee itself! Thank you so much, gave me goosebumps all the way through!

Too many old boys in the sport relying on TV/Broadcast rights is my guess. I really think they need to open up like Liberty did to F1 and HBO did with Hardknocks in the NFL.
Nice Hommage to my home lake where I grew up. Great episodes and looks of the different faces of the lake. Super videos of „sudden death“. I wished you had added some of the history to the lake.
