If only Xiaomi puts USB3 with wired video output. The 7+ Gen 2 is a crazy powerful SoC for a midrange-grade phone. It performs almost similarly to 8+ Gen 1.
I actually recently got this phone. I got the Redmi Note 12 Turbo variant with 1 tb of storage and 16 GB of RAM. Its been doing very well. I turned off 5G and flashed a different radio and had to root it to get it to work with Google Wallet but it was fun to get into that stuff again. China had the one with the most storage so this is the one I had to get to store all my flac files since I can finally go back to using wired headphones easily and reliably. I was forced to get this phone thanks to my Pixel 7a becoming unusable in Miami where I live. The pixel would constantly over-heat. It could not work on the highway so if I was going somewhere and it decided that Android Auto and Navigation was too much for it it'd shut down all radios and throttle while still cooking itself and I'd be stranded which forced me to break out my old LG V30 to get the job done. It'd also lose cell coverage in areas where the Chinese Redmi with the new radio image will have a better connection and won't drop signal. What? So it's faster than my pixel in everything I need it to do (CPU and GPU), far bigger screen, more fluid 120 hz screen, higher brightness (double), way more RAM, way more storage, runs cooler, has better reception outdoors (that's crazy) while being $138 cheaper...yeah, I'll do without the AI stuff and photography prowess (I don't take pictures that much unless its of documents) the Pixel offers for an operational phone any day. I'll be selling the Pixel 7a.
Great video as always. It really feels like the "mid-tier" and "flagship" devices are so OP for a phone in terms of processing power. Really, this has probably been the case since 2020 imo. I think this would be a good time for OEMs to concentrate on software optimization, feature sets and just user experience in general (Samsung I'm looking at you! Stop duplicating EVERY app and service 😂).
I'm babying my V60 till the very last moment of functionality, but it's still cool to keep up with releases. Good to see Poco's F line still knocking out great bang for buck.
It's a great phone and for the price it looks like an excellent device. Plus a 800 series performance for a fourth of the price is something unheard of for years. The Poco F5 is definitely something that punch way above it's class.
also I am very confused, with your nokia video vs mate 10 pro I commented on, I noticed I was unsubscribed even though I didn't, so re-subbed with bell icon and now the bell icon is off... tf
You forgot to mention that SD 7+ Gen2 comes with UFS 3.1, the first of that family. Which basically means it has a real HW interface to it's (NAND) storage and not a middle-man embedded-flash memory storage. Which means transfer rates of 1GB/s++, as opposed to maybe hundreds of megs per second on last gen mid-range SoCs.
Its actually quite amazing Mediatek is pushing Qualcomm to stop slacking off, the Dimensity chips are quite good all my preconceptions were dashed once I used a Dimensity phone for months on end.
Only downside of Mediatek, and still they haven't fixed it in Dimensity lineup ..- mobile data connection / signal reception sucks. Imagine Redmi7A , that has Snapdragon 439, has better signal reception over Dimensity 1100
I ditched my RN9Pro for RN12Turbo (Poco F5). And honestly, I didnt regret it. The only concern i have at first is the lack of expansion storage, but since I purchased the 512GB Chinese variant and installed EU ROM later on, i guess it was just fine and works great, no cellular issues since our country does have similar bands on what China is using. There are strange issues though, if you select Color Schemes other than Vivid and Saturated, the screen display becomes not totally black when you display black color. There is some sort of backdrop.
What about the Bluetooth sound quality, i use high end headphones and the sound quality is better on the Redmi note 9 pro in terms of clarity, cleaner sound with enough bass, the opposite with the poco f5, the sound is harsh and thin, with no bass at all, the volume control performance is good in the first half only, for bands that have a dirty sound like for example imagine dragons the experience is unpleasant in some songs, electronic music sounds better but still not as good as the Redmi.
IT HAS A HEADPHONE JACK??!?!?! Instant win. I knew the SoC would be a BEAST but damn I didn't know it would include a feature that 4 figure phones (except Sony) aren't giving us. Plus, CHARGER in the box!!!

Watching on my Poco F5 now. Just got mine yesterday. Amazing performance for its price. 👌 If you're on a budget and yet you want to experience flagship performance this is a good choice. The display is nice. Though I have a bit of complain with its thermals especially if you are in warm temperatures rooms without ACs which I think is normal but nothing serious or alarmingly warm. Another thing that I quite don't understand about midrangers in the camera department: A flagship in 2019 would have a triple 12mp set of cameras there being a normal, ultrawide and telephoto Why midrangers 4 years after this still can't pack this kinda of camera setup? I'd rather have it than one 50/64/108/200mp main camera and the 5( sometimes 8)+2mp ultrawide set + macro
It's called marketing. If you had a decent ultrawide sensor on a midranger, what's the reason to pay much more for a flagship? Price-wise a 12 mp sensor is ultra cheap, but you just can't have it.
This CPU is so solid. Thank you Qualcomm and I agree the return to Android is appreciated. Thank you Xiaomi for giving us a choice. I hate to use Apple's poor implementations of software. If you bring their software bring what they do well.
Thanks for the video, watched it yesterday and today i bought the 12/256 Blue variant.I like it very much so far,and its crazy faster than my older mi note 8.
The 7 gen 2 is essentially the 8 gen 1 but clocked lower. For most people, they won’t notice the difference between this phone and the f5 pro. I wish the pro at least replaced that macro camera with a zoom. Even if it’s not a good zoom, I can do much more with a crappy zoom camera using gcam port than a crappy macro
Now that i see the white version, i question my choice to take the blue one. But my previous F3 had always the white color. What i find a bit disturbing is how cheap the plastic back feels in comparisant to the much more premium feeling F3.

Could you please check if the phone was manufactured in India or China? (You can find that information on the box.) Thank you. Great video, by the way.
It's insane how fast the F5 performs. It punches just below the SD8G2 while almost outperforming the SD8+G1 while maintaining generally good thermals. Yes, the camera and software sucks but at a quarter the price of flagships, the F5 is a no-brainer if you need top tier performance on a budget.
Thanks for the review! A great phone for this price. Unfortunately I hate the fingerprint-sensors in the powerbutton. It's exactly there where you put your thumb, when you put the phone into your pocket :(
all its missing is wireless charging, as my current poco failed in usb C port, which now laying on the table waiting for parts and if it had wireless even if its slower its much better than being a brick.
@JuanBagnell. My Huawei Mate 20 Pro is starting to show it's age now. I'm trying to decide between the Poco F5 and Google Pixel 6 or 7 line of flagships. The latter can be bought for around the same price on sale where I am. I would be very interested in a comparison video of the two phones to help me and others to decide. Thanks.
Update: they are terrible. I had a X3 GT and they sounded better, with at least some bass. The ones in the F5 sound like cheap laptop speakers, 0 bass sound like tweeters.
Sir, can I get proper information of my 2 queries ? 👇🏻 (1) It's available to hear from a few RUclipsrs that the DISPLAY of Poco F-5 is not a Samsung product, but a "purely Chinese developed Display". Is it true ? (2) Can you provide us the same information about the DISPLAY of Poco F-4 ? Please try to reply asap as I'm waiting to make a right decision before placing my ORDER. THANK YOU.
I just checked the spec between this and the F5 Pro. It's completely laughable to see the "Pro" version doesn't have the headphone jack. Also, 7+ Gen 2 is identical to 8+ Gen 1 except for the absence of Cortex-X2 Prime core. I'm still not a fan of MIUI, but this vanilla F5 got my interest.
I've seen reviewers compliment the latest version of MIUI (14) Stability and bugs seem to have been improved a lot, whereas smoothness was always good on Xiaomi phones (at least midrange and up) This 7+ Gen 2 chip seems excellent especially for a mid ranger (can record 4K60!)
@@-MrEVIL- Yeah and I'm extremely sure they purposely limit it so people buy their high end offerings If they enabled 4K60 and offered a 12MP UW instead of 8, I'd just buy this phone
LOL I was SO close to saying "how it felt in the hand", but I don't think phones "FEEL" much different. More, I just can hold it like a camera better 😅
may i know how is the headphone jack ? does it use like high quality amp dac like LG use to use it for their headphone jack ? Or is it just a standard 3.5mm jack ? Thanks
Writing this on the Poco F5, i love everything about it. The cameras were so much better than my old phone (old phone was a poco m3) and its the biggest upgrade i've ever done. My one and only gripe about it is the horrible software. By far the worst one is you cant use navigation gestures on third party launchers. If you like customization but dont mind using those buttons then okay whatever but if not i think it'd be better you get like a pixel 6a or 7a.
I have a 7a and this phone. The 7a was a nightmare for me. definitely selling it on ebay or Swappa. bad modem and overheating so I cant use the phone because it shuts off the cell radios and Bluetooth in the middle of navigation so then I will be stranded. lower brightness on the pixel as well. more limiting storage options (redmi version), less RAM, smaller screen, slower screen, worse soc just in order to use a different launcher? Yeah, no thanks on that Pixel 7a. I hope the Pixel 8 series will have fixed all those debilitating problems I had with it.
Pretty much. People are expecting close up focus, so they probably get the ultra wide and macro cheaper than using a higher quality ultra wide that can do both.
@@SomeGadgetGuy nothing like parts being fitted and paid for, for no reason!! Mines coming tomorrow so we'll have a test. I recall the poco f3 macro camera being good but I believe that it had a better macro lens and/or sensor. Crazy really you'd think the f5 would be better.

A flagship in 2019 would have a triple 12mp set of cameras there being a normal, ultrawide and telephoto
Why midrangers 4 years after this still can't pack this kinda of camera setup?
I'd rather have it than one 50/64/108/200mp main camera and the 5( sometimes 8)+2mp ultrawide set + macro
It's called marketing. If you had a decent ultrawide sensor on a midranger, what's the reason to pay much more for a flagship? Price-wise a 12 mp sensor is ultra cheap, but you just can't have it.
Currently rocking this phone right now.
It is flagship killer, no asking questions. 🔥
Hoping you get the opportunity (and will) to review the F5 Pro. You are the best. Thank you for the content
Impressive and very detailed review 👍.
This CPU is so solid. Thank you Qualcomm and I agree the return to Android is appreciated. Thank you Xiaomi for giving us a choice. I hate to use Apple's poor implementations of software. If you bring their software bring what they do well.
It's about giving the impression of Apple software, not actually doing it 😂😂. I really hate when companies copy each other like that.
@@BrianGlaze Xiaomi has been doing this with apple for years. So glad they give us a choice.
Thank mediatek 8000 series or else this 7 gen won't come out
@@BarryJohnson 👌🏿👌🏿
“A quick poke” I see what you did there 😂
Those pop out panels are very nice 👀. I would love to see that on Android devices in the place of mode scroll.
WANT SO BAD. I hate the way we clutter the camera view JUST BECAUSE that's how Apple did it.
@@SomeGadgetGuy we got to make a fuss somehow about this. Incoming daily DMs to every major Android device manufacturer lol.
You can actually adjust it to be the "more" section or go pop out. Just the many things Xiaomi does best in the camera aps.
Thanks for the video, watched it yesterday and today i bought the 12/256 Blue variant.I like it very much so far,and its crazy faster than my older mi note 8.
Congrats on the new phone!
@@SomeGadgetGuy Thank you!
One of the best tech channels, always a pleasure . thank you.
Please do your signature Real Audio Review of the Poco F5 focussing on the headphone performance.
It will be interesting.
Very good review, got u a sub
I do like that you tested the performance based on editing and rendering, some of android phones cant handle simple rednering
11:57 did you say megapickel? Now I am just imagining a gigantic Pickle Rick for some reason XD.
I acquired it and noticed it has faster RAM speeds than the latest iPhone 15 (even than the pro max) with LPDDR5X vs LPDDR5 for the iPhone.
Wait actually it's supposed to be LPDDR5 but in the AIDA64 app it says LPDDR5X (free upgrade or wrong reporting from the app ?)
Oh snap. I didn't catch that. I gotta check that out. Good eye!
@@SomeGadgetGuy Maybe this upgrade is only on the more recent F5's (bought it a month ago) but the specs still mention base DDR5 on the POCO website.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Forget its wrong reporting from AIDA64... It's actually normal DDR5.
The 7 gen 2 is essentially the 8 gen 1 but clocked lower. For most people, they won’t notice the difference between this phone and the f5 pro. I wish the pro at least replaced that macro camera with a zoom. Even if it’s not a good zoom, I can do much more with a crappy zoom camera using gcam port than a crappy macro
yeah and that's why 7 gen 3 it's quite slower both cpu and gpu compared to 7+ gen2, because it's not a 7 series but a little detuned 8 gen
excellent review sir.!❤
Now that i see the white version, i question my choice to take the blue one. But my previous F3 had always the white color.
What i find a bit disturbing is how cheap the plastic back feels in comparisant to the much more premium feeling F3.
doesnt F3 have glass back? cause mine cracked
not got the F5
@@karantikoo9302 yes. and a nicer metal body in my opinion

900+ antutu score 😁
You can swipe down with two fingers for old type of notifications shade, which I prefer too.
Nice vlog, how many years of operating system updates will take?
Could you please check if the phone was manufactured in India or China? (You can find that information on the box.) Thank you. Great video, by the way.
Can you have some chapters on your video. It would make for easier navigation.
The new custom rom king.
It's exactly there where you put your thumb, when you put the phone into your pocket :(
Just put it the other way around
Used the 1st gen pocofone, then I stayed away on the next gens. Looks like these latest gen will convince me to get one 🔥
nice review.
are CAM and display muche better than my old galaxy s8 plus? thanks
I don't understand how no one ever mentions the focus hunting on th eback camera that makes its "moving forward and back" all the time while filming.
awesome vid
I've had this for a few months. Best phone I've ever owned
Poco F series has always been a monster option 👍
beautiful phone. If I upgrade my 3/32 current phone with that beast, thats an equivalent for krillin becoming as powerful as vegeta!
Yo I bought Titan quest a few days ago at a discounted price, great game !
I asked you which game it was a few week ago in a smartphone test
Bro, What is the name of the Game you are playing at 9Min & 30 Seconds onwards? Please advise.
How are the haptics compared to the flagships
all its missing is wireless charging, as my current poco failed in usb C port, which now laying on the table waiting for parts and if it had wireless even if its slower its much better than being a brick.
Thanks.
geekbench 6 scored 1700 on singlecore and 4400+ in multicore
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 = Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 without the overheating issue.
The GPU is doing 354940 vs 414217 for the sd 8 gen 1 in Antutu. CPU is better though 249409 vs 220258
I have the Poco F3 and its better than i anticipated. Ive had it a few months.. Is the F5 worth upgrading to?
WHAT A BEAST
greetings juan. very good video.
how about the stereo speakers compare to like poco F3 ?
Something tells me they are the same... Will come back once my F5 arrives.
Update: they are terrible. I had a X3 GT and they sounded better, with at least some bass. The ones in the F5 sound like cheap laptop speakers, 0 bass sound like tweeters.
next make video for realme GT Neo 5 SE , i think its same poco f5🙃
Hi Juan, any commentary on the quality of tje headphone jack. Provides good output and sound with IEM and over the ear headphones?
Sir, can I get proper information of my 2 queries ? 👇🏻
(1) It's available to hear from a few RUclipsrs that the DISPLAY of Poco F-5 is not a Samsung product, but a "purely Chinese developed Display". Is it true ?
(2) Can you provide us the same information about the DISPLAY of Poco F-4 ?
Please try to reply asap as I'm waiting to make a right decision before placing my ORDER.
THANK YOU.
The only midrange phone with simetrical bezzel & chin, even samsung a54 can't do this
I just checked the spec between this and the F5 Pro.
Ois is the only improvement ig
I've seen reviewers compliment the latest version of MIUI (14)
Stability and bugs seem to have been improved a lot, whereas smoothness was always good on Xiaomi phones (at least midrange and up)
This 7+ Gen 2 chip seems excellent especially for a mid ranger (can record 4K60!)
@@rrageneral1499 the stock camera app cant
So gotta use third party camera app for 4k60
Also, the F5 Pro is thicker and has larger battery. It should have no problem having the headphone jack as well.
@@-MrEVIL- Yeah and I'm extremely sure they purposely limit it so people buy their high end offerings
If they enabled 4K60 and offered a 12MP UW instead of 8, I'd just buy this phone
I wonder if it's front camera changes any colour like it is beyond the original colours of human face tone
Amoung poco f5 and OnePlus Nord 3 camera which is better?
Poco F5 or Sony Xperia 1 Mark III?
Finally xiaomi phone with top tier processor with cheap prices. We have not seen this for a while
Ms. Is the phone glass? Hard plastic? And if the shape behind the phone is felt in the hand?
I notice the squared off edges are being used by most companies now, even Samsung with the A54.
Thanks
Obviously 3.5mm
where are you from? im just surprised they send review phones to the US. considering they barely sell any units there.
Only 30% of my audience is in north america 🤷
@@SomeGadgetGuy yea just wondering is all ü haha. all good man. your review is very technical and solid, btw.
The main camera is okayishh but the other cameras are such a let down. Not even average
Hi, how is your poco f5 now?
@@MargaManiego The fingerprint reader has gotten a bit weird and sometimes i cant unlock it. Other than that it has been amazing
How about the camera? And battery life?
@@MargaManiego I've gotten about 7-8 hours everyday of normal use. Havent noticed any problems with the camera though.
Great phone be honest they just need more optimisation on stabilization and front recording with 60fps
Great video. So what is the point of the macro camera then, just to say they have three cameras, or is there any actual use for it? Thanks
Crazy really you'd think the f5 would be better.
sexeh. my poco x3 pro is still going stronk.
this will be my next phone. currently using redmi 10x 5g. A new powerful chip and a Headphone jack.
It's so refreshing to see that combo.
Yeah and it is still No comparsion to a dedicated Makro Lens on a DSLR or system camera.
Hello my friend, Xiaomi Note 12 Turbo, does it work on a network in America, and I live in Arizona?
