I don’t know how Slash gets so many grabs. The set ups are useful, but I match into mashers. I have to fish for counter attacks more than getting to grab. Slash is so cool to watch though.
@@ABizzareJoesame thing in sf6 too. People would rather get thrown 7 times in a row than eat a combo into level 3, and guilty gear has higher damage so that’s even more of a case
@@GrimmyQ I wouldn't say it's a 1-1 thing, in SF6 I think grabs have a different context when compared to what you can get off of a grab in Strive. For instance, assuming you're close to the corner, getting grabbed twice in a row by baiken can lead to a wallbreak combo without having to win a 3rd exchange because of how her grab works while tethered, and there are also way more protections and options available to you that are both good for beating throw loops AND safe without leading to followup punishes like in Street Fighter (being able to jump and air block any anti-air response, mashing 5p being faster than grab on wakeup, Character specific stuff like Baiken TK Youzansen, etc.) weirdly enough it's almost like the opposite of how it works in street fighter, where the lower risk option might be to just eat the combo and get a wallbreak because that resets to neutral faster and gets you out.
@ I mean yeah combos in sf6 matter way more because it’s more neutral based. Throw loops practically don’t exist in guilty gear because combos are too scary to try and grab any more than 2 times in a row. Command grabs also are a thing, so you have to take into account if getting command grabbed is worse than the combo, which I think in most cases they are. May’s command grab leads to a meter less high damage combo in the corner so sometimes throws aren’t better than the combo, since command grabs can do both.
Offense should be nerfed around the board. For that many unseeable high damage mixes that can be looped so easily, being allowed is simply incorrect from a design and gameplay perspective.
This Baiken is so good at reading it’s crazy

Both low and high lvl involves conditioning. And for higher plays, people will just take the throw than eat a 80% CH combo

The baiken was good af, unfortunate that may is the embodiment of chaos.
It's slash, May is good, but slash is just better
Love how the May has 0 defense but it doesn't matter because this is Strive
You mean slash has no defense? Lmao
