Like Chris said numbers are fun to talk about, but if the usable power comes in low and climbs steady, it feels faster even if your giving up a few HP, and feeling power throughout the gears is tits compared to a 3500 4500rpm high hp number, it must be the 42 years of experience...D&D makes some nice exhaust also.
I love the way you work. You are experts on doing what you are doing. But mostly I love the way you get along with each other. Keep up the great work, performance, friends and great vives at work. You all guys are pros.
Thanks for all the hard work you have done to show the difference in each pipe. Mine is on order with you and waiting on delivery for my 24 Low Rider ST
Interesting test; my gut instinct says that the main difference in power was the Thrashin system being held back by the dogball resonator. It's my understanding that the resonator gets rid of the classic empty pipe "rooga rooga/hub blub blub" sound upon deceleration that your new setup now has. 🤜
The only problem I see with HPI is the lead time. They're like 16-20 weeks out. I think they are the best but damn 16-20 week wait and +$300 for 3 or 4 horsepower? Is it worth it? Your call.
@@markclay4598 I’ve got the Sawiki shorty on my bike and it’s freaking awesome! Side note: my bike isn’t a Harley nor an import. I’ve got a couple videos of it on my channel so far
In general, the exhaust system is designed to minimize back pressure. At the same time, the pipe diameter and length are carefully balanced with the engine performance. This is done to generate the right gas flow rate that assists in engine scavenging.Basically, back pressure is a function of the length and diameter of the exhaust system. While reducing back pressure is necessary, you also want the exhaust gases to have a minimum velocity. When the exhaust valve opens a high-speed positive pressure wave exits the cylinder and drags the exhaust gases with it. This wave travels at a certain velocity, they leave a low-pressure zone behind them. The low pressure helps in creating a suction effect. As a result, evacuating the engine chamber from the burnt gases gets easier. The entire process is termed inertial scavenging.
Dunno if you’re aware. But Thrashin have a tailpipe without the dog balls. If this comparison should have made any sense you should have compared similar baffles. Actually it’s amazing how close the dog balls Thrashin version is to the HP one. Anyways. Love your shit! Keep at it 🤙🏼
Hell Yea BlockHead & Chris really enjoyed this video. Extremely well put together. I mean when you first cranked the HP exhaust, 😍Nasty. BlockHead if you have a moment how well do you think the Vance & Hines Hi-Oput RR numbers could be ? Or is it to many variables to tell?
Dude I would love this bike in my garage. I bought a 2020 fatboy with the M8 but I shoukdve bought the lowrider st. Absolutely love this bike. Thanks for the video!!
If it's not for science, is it even worth doing? I look forward to future science videos! Great vid, keep up the great work; it's thanks to your channel that i've settled on picking up a Harley for my next bike, and these science videos have really helped educate me on the best parts to look at.
For sub 2 grand for a pipe , it better perform..., so in other words their both great exhausts for the m8, but stupid expensive...I'll stick with my bassani stainless 2 into 1. Great video tho guys, love what you all are doing.
I just put a Vance&Hines upsweep on my 2022 Fxlrs. Have you guys ever had a build with the upsweep? Do they make power? It’s not a high dollar piece but it seems too be very quality. I love the sound it stands alone compared to what everyone else is throwing on there lowriders
Can’t beat HPI as far as build quality and how light they are. They make great power too. I love the 3 piece construction. You can pull the pipe off to clean it in less than 10 minutes. No one touches them in quality.
I've been thinking about getting on the waiting(drooling) list to order an HPi pipe for my Lowrider ST. But, because the wait was so long, I jumped on a smoking deal for a new Bassani 2into1 (Blem) pipe. I'd be interested in seeing the numbers for it(Bassani), in comparison to the D&D (and HPi/Thrashin). The Bassani is pretty popular pipe and I think you should include it in the shootout.
Can you guys please do some twin cam stuff ? I exhaust shoot out / cams etc … I want the Block Head opinion and not all of us can afford a new bike ! Thanks Fellas
If enough people pay in advance for an upgrade, Harley will make them. Personally I think some of the markup is because other cat delete options are also expensive and don’t provide as much of a performance upgrade. Just an idea, but HD didn’t invent that game. But I’m glad my new bike is a turn of the century Triumph triple liter bike. Faster than you think for reasons I think I will take to the strip. But stock quarter is 11 flat. And no electric nannies. I need to feel my bike. And I feel the need…but that HPI setup sounds really good.
I had a slight feeling about this outcome, but it’s good to be validated. Personally, I think the D&D is going to beat all of them, but I’m not a fan of the looks. 🤷🏽♂️
Very nice piece of equipment. Looks great, sounds great, creates some extra HP at a premium price. I like that. As far as the O2 sensor goes, can’t the shop install a bung at the desired location and simply leave the poorly placed one plugged?
Can y’all do a review of the Triumph Bonneville Bobbers. Recently discovered Thornton Hundred and their amazing work on those classic bikes. Curious what y’all’s opinions of them are.
How warm does that HPI exhaust get without heat shields? I have the Fuel Moto stainless without heat shields and gets quite hot! Wondering if it even makes a difference at all. Thanks.
I’d like to see a DnD exhaust comparison on the dyno. DnD pipe is roughly about $900 dollars. I would like to know if you guys are also getting paid by HPI Thanks
You do great OBJECTIVE studies vs SUBJECTIVE studies on performance. Dyno best way to show. If a bike makes 3000 horsepower at 20,000 rpm who wants to ride that around town.
Thanks for the great video. I'm buying an ST soon, so I'm trying to decide on the right pipe. Did you measure the HP/torque on the stock bike? How do the HPi/Thrasher numbers compare to stock?
Sheeeeesh, that sounds *GOOD!* Both sound awesome, and stoked to see more from Horsepower in the episodes. Looking forward to the giveaway of this bike! Fingers crossed that I get lucky 😆
Question, would you consider doing the 68 mm throttle body with that set up, or do you think it would open it up too much compared to the 64 mm throttle body?
In general, the term backpressure Is misleading. You need the baffles in the exhaust system to scavenge exhaust gases or reversion will occur. The term backpressure to the uninitiated sounds as if you need to block the exhaust for more power.
How do I get one of those pipes and how will it work with my build? I have a fueling racing cam plate words 22 Xe cam and I’m ditching the Harley tuner for a Dyno
Ya I have a el diablo from cobra. It under 700. Deffinetly better than stock. Even with a canned tune from fuelmoto. Also Better than s&e slip on super trap and duals with and without d.k torque inserts. I did have to fatten it up at 0% trottle to get rid of decel pop thoe. Ide be curious to see it vs a stealth or the 2 they are testing. But... I also have a twin cam
anyone have any experience with the Rinehart 2 into 1 exhausts? not the slip ons. I'm trying to find a balance of performance, budget and nothing too loud
These "tech" vids are the best. Sick's explanations and experience deserve to be continuously HEARD.

I’m actually anxious to see the D&D pipe numbers. I so appreciate the science research your doing 😁.
