Hello friend, one question, they recommend the Sony a6000 for long streams, I have a little doubts and fear since I do live streams on twitch and they are long maybe 4 or maybe 6 hours and obviously the camera will be connected to a fake battery connected to the electricity all the time, that's why the reason for my fear when streaming I don't know if the camera overheats, I hope to see your answers, thanks.
This is awesome! Steggy, do you ever do one-on-one consultations to help people get their setup together? Love to hire you! I am going crazy trying to figure out my set up.
Two questions: Is this lens compatible with the Alpha 5100? As someone with glasses, how do you have your lighting set up such that you don't see your lighting in your glasses lenses?
🙋🏼♂️🇪🇦 Hola Steggy! Tú vídeo me ha ayudado mucho👍🤗 Ha sido increible. Hiciste un gran trabajo y lo compartiste con todos. 👏👏👏👏 Gracias! Cuídate bien. 🤗🤗🤗🙏🙏👋👋👋
ok, Sony, Canon, Micro3/4, that's all cool. but however there are lots of people using Fujifilm as the cameras provide you with an amazing video quality. so it would be a good idea to show some interesting options for Fuji owners.
If your camera is in automatic settings it could be stopping down the aperture to a bigger number than F1.4 which means less blur. If you're in manual mode, you should be at something like 1/60 for shutterspeed, F1.4 for aperture, and then ISO is what you'd change up/down depending on how bright your image looks. If your camera is in 1.4, you may just need to move the camera closer to you. If you're like 4ft away from your camera in an 8 ft room, it might not look as blurry behind you vs. if you were 2ft away from your camera in that 8ft room. Hope this makes sense.

It's what I personally use in my setup still day to day - if you're buying a camera fresh though you should get the ZV-E10 over the A6100. It's extremely similar, but better.
@@Steggy thanks for helping. i was put off that its usb over hdmi. but that must be fine since you suggest it😊 is there a lens you might be able to recommend for bedroom desk to 6ft range. often use a green screen. though maybe that's not relevant. thank you
@@k_DEDb07 ZV-E10 has both USB webcam capabilities (720p30) as well as HDMI out so it can be used with Cam Link for 1080p60 or 4K30 output - like I said - it's similar to the A6100, but better. And for the lenses the ones I cover in the video are my favorites to use. So I prefer either the Sigma 16mm F1.4 or the Tamron 11-20 F2.8 - the zoom is nice to have in order to change your look etc. if you need, but it is considerably more expensive than the Sigma.
Ok i needed to know if 35mm good for streaming than grabbing 24mm full frame and may use it for streaming later when I get zoom lens for my full frame camera
I have Sony a6500 and Sigma 16 1.4. I'd love the shot as zoomed in as possible. 29EFL. How do I verify whether I'm getting 29EFL or 24EFL as you show? I just recently set this up and not so familiar with the correct settings or where to check.
There's no real display on the camera you just have to eyeball it via the live view. When shooting in 1080p60 or 4K24 you'll be at 24mm EFL - once you set your video recording to 4K 30fps and choose output 4K over the HDMI in the HDMI menu, you should see your framing zoom in a bit to the 29 EFL. There's no in between so when you see the zoom in that's what it will be. And if you're streaming and only streaming 1080p you can zoom in further by digital zoom since you'll be in 4K on your camera.
I've been trying to figure something out for 2weeks and I'm hoping you know the answer. I cant change my camera to 1080p 60fps. Silly right? Its completely stuck in 4k30fps. Is that because im connected through the elgato cam link 4k capture card? Do i need a different capture card to be able to use 1080p 60 fps? The hdmi settings are greyed out in movie mode and it says im in 4k output
I'm curious if you stream somewhere else. I've found your channel recently, but your Twitch link says you haven't been live for 3y. Either way, great content! Thank you!
Hey Steggy, thanks for this video. I have a Canon R6 that I'm decommissioning from my wedding photography and converting into a dedicated Stream/Podcast camera so if you ever make a full-frame sensor video, I'd love to check it out! 🙂
Excellent video, thank you for sharing. Unsolicited feedback: Since there's a lot to read while watching the video, if instead of writing the description as a long line, it's more readable if the description of the lens in use is in separate lines (maybe in a corner). For example; TAMRON 11-20 mm F 2.8 4K 30 fps FFE 16-30 mm + 1.2x 4K crop = 20-36 mm EEL Also, use this symbol - instead of the regular dash - to improve legibility
Thanks for the awesome video @steggy! Very informative! A quick question - it seems that the Tamron 11-20mm F2.8 and Tamron 17-70mm F2.8 are super close in terms of price. Is there any reason that I should NOT buy the 17-70mm Tamron as on paper (and in various reviews) seems to be the better choice.
It all depends on what you want to do with the lens. With the 17-70mm the widest field of view will be similar to the sigma. The 11-20 is to get the ultra wide angle field of view which provides a unique perspective for a streaming setup. If you're looking for more of an all around lens for streaming and youtube - or like a normal webcam placement streaming lens that can zoom in pretty far for streams where you're farther away from your setup, the 17-70 2.8 is a great focal range/aperture. It just won't be as wide as the 11-20, or have as much bokeh as the sigma 16mm. And I find that most vloggers say that they feel 16mm apsc/24mm FF focal length isn't wide enough for their vlogging needs, so if your RUclips use case was vlogging it's something to consider. Another option could be the Tamron 17-28 - same price ish, but has the benefit of being a full frame lens - so if you were to ever upgrade to a full frame camera you'd get a true 17mm-28mm. Whereas the 17-28mm on an APS-C is FFE 25mm-42mm and the 17-70 is 25mm-63mm. So while the 17-28 won't have as much of a range as the 17-70, it's got a bit of an upgrade path if you upgrade to full frame. I have that lens and love it.
Would like to see a video on the best lenses for streaming while using the Elgato green screen, given that you want a more narrow field to ensure the green screen fills the entire camera view and there is no need for background blur at all.
It's an interesting thought and one that's somewhat multi faceted. If you were to use old-style muslin green screens which have wrinkles - having some background blur could help smooth those out which could assist with chroma keying. However since the Elgato screen is so flat/smooth this isn't necessary, so what matters more is edge sharpness - which at a wider focal length it's hard to get super razor thin depth of field anyway. But in that case - the kit lenses are actually probably the best, because the F3.5-5.6 is going to give you edge sharpness and not like blur your ear off causing a weird keying effect, and the zoom range would allow you to outfit multiple setups. It's a good thought might be a fun video to just show this in action.
Got that 25mm f1.7 for my gx80 when I bought it, however it’s waaaay too zoomed in and I can only fit my face in the shot. Would a 0.45 wide angle converter help?
So long as its compatible with the lens it should work in terms of increasing the field of view, but most of those converters are from cheap generic companies so the glass quality won't be as good, so the sharpness will probably suffer a bit, and there could even be a possibility that the extra layer could mess with the lens's autofocus performance. Would just make sure you order from somewhere with a decent return policy so you can test to make sure you're satisfied.
@@Steggy Didn’t want to go to over budget because then I might as well get a used lens instead, and a 46mm converter seemed almost impossible to find so had to go for some sketchy amazon one. But most likely picking up a lumix 14mm f2.5

@@Steggy This was immensely helpful. Thank you for taking the time!
The hdmi settings are greyed out in movie mode and it says im in 4k output
smart video thanks!!
Einen schönen Guten Morgen wünsche ich. Dein neues Video hast du echt gut gemacht auch der Inhalt davon ist echt Nice. Lg Marci
Unsolicited feedback: Since there's a lot to read while watching the video, if instead of writing the description as a long line,
it's more readable if the description of the lens in use is in separate lines (maybe in a corner).
For example;
TAMRON 11-20 mm F 2.8
4K 30 fps
FFE 16-30 mm + 1.2x
4K crop = 20-36 mm EEL
Also, use this symbol - instead of the regular dash - to improve legibility
I love the em-dash, but using it in place of an en-dash feels wrong 😭. We have different dashes for a reason.
Please make one for full frame mirror less. I will be using a canon eos rp!
What about Samyang 16 mm F2.0 Lens for Canon?
I really love the way u tell us and u literally tell us 😂
Thanks for the awesome video @steggy!
@@Steggy amazing! thanks for the super in-depth reply!
@@Steggy Tamron 17-70mm or Sigma 30mm 1.4 or the new Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 . Which one to choose?
Would you share sony settings for Sony camera 6 series for 1080p using the sigma 16
Wow.. So knowledgeable
There's a typo error on 7:12, where you use SIGMA 30MM but said 16MM
Can't you turn off auto focus on the Tokina 11-16?
Can u review Sigma 16mm f1.4 vs The new Samyang AF 12mm 2.0?
12 and 16 mm arent comparable
Yes pls full frame 🙏; streaming using sony c7 and lenses not covered on youtube.
can you make a video about the settings used for the a6100 for streaming?
and how important lighting is?
There's plenty of vids out there
sigma 30mm f1.4 is goated
Very good.. congrats..
What about the tamron 20 f2.8?
Steggy's the man
Is $400 a reasonable price for a camera lens?
Is it?
_Is it?_
how about a List on here ? thanks!
Great job Steggy! Exactly what I needed. Purchased the Sigma 16mm. Can't wait to use it! Appreciate the notes on low light. It was what I was looking for. Seriously, great job man!
Why when its clearly showed that that the 30mm is way better?
so much use full man '
