They were the second death metal band that formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1985 after Possessed, who were good friends with Insanity. Mike of Possessed actually encouraged Insanity to play the first show with Death even though Insanity only had 5 songs at the time.
Insanity is amazing. I have always been astounded by how under-listened this band is. It's a CONCEPT BAND for god's sake, can you get much more metal? The mad ravings of a lost mind. Onea my faves. Go buy it on Amazon.
Following the release of INSANITY's classic 3 song '85 Demo Tape and a rehearsal tape from '86, INSANITY had created quite buzz in the underground realm of death-thrash tape trading and were beginning to gain attention from zines worldwide and even several labels. Tragically, INSANITY was dealt a crushing blow when founding member and lead vocalist/guitarist Joe DeZuniga died unexpectedly March 16, 1987 of a rare heart ailment, causing the delay of building the new '89 Demo line-up
So rad!..many memories of seeing this So. Bay Area band @ Ruthie's often (1980's). They were ahead of their time, incorporating hardcore punk beats when most metallers required a double-bass bottom to thrash to. Most people just sat and watched... they slept big-time! R.I.P. Bud.
The song was written in 1986, The recording is from 1991 and the footage to make video was shot in 1993 although it was edited together many years later.
@wolf4241991 The Drums and basics were recorded in Dec. of '91 and the first round of recording finished in '92 but the band wasn't happy with the results and asked the label for more money to redo a couple things and mix it down in a bigger studio. By the time the band got the 2nd round of funding from the label and finished mixing in was '93 and it took a while for the label to get it out.
by today's classifications yes, but in 1986 when it was written we called it death metal because almost everything else was thrash or hardcore back then
awesome vdeo and kickass song! its a shame i cant seem to find it anywhere though. real tragedy what happened to most of the early trash and deaht bands[faded away after gay-runge and gay-mo shit]
People who are calling this thrash are fucking stupid listen to the riffs, tone and vocals this is old school death metal with some progressive and technical influence. They did not form before Death metal even existed either they formed in 85 Death metal was born in 83 with Mantas.
What a MORON, this guy has Slipknot and Metallica Enter Sandman on his favorites and he thinks he knows something about Old School Death Metal!!! This song was written in 1986 by a band that played 3 of the first 4 shows with Death & Possessed from 1985-86 before the original singer died in 1987. If that's not Old School Death Metal I don't know what is...
