Yes I understand the writing isn't really great but like you said their attitude saved it. I wish they did this in korean the lyrics would have been better. The song is a vibe nonetheless
I appreciate your complete honesty and respect to the girls because they really showed off their style the best they could with what they were given. I was worried you were going to tear this a new one considering your background in rap/hiphop. I completely agree with everything you said about this song. The writing was very amateurish and the girls did their best with what they were given. I hope yg has the writers on a conditional contract cause the basic raps were not it for me. Especially the Eenie meanie part and given to one of the MAIN rappers. The switch up at the end in music is leading into the next title track Drip which releases nov 1st.

It's a common complaint of mine about the group. The girls are talented, but the lyrical content of the raps they're given to perform often comes across as super lazy writing to me. FAR too many sound words and repeating words and, sometimes, just jibberish. There's some parts of their rap sections in their songs that are pretty good and then it just gets ruined by some bars that feel like the writers had a deadline and couldn't come up with anything decent. Sucks too 'cause I really like their music outside of the little parts that make me cringe and sigh. To be fair, they aren't the only group with some of those issues, and it CAN work in spots (ie: I don't mind the chorus here with the "Boss (boss) boss boss" part), but they just use way too much of it.
umm well the lyrics they cant just jump off to cursing or serving bars at that age as they are just minors as u can see what happened to ahyeon and why she went on hiatus if u know as yg don’t want the girls to get criticised cuz of lyrics that blackpink serves as well as theyre adult woman thats why yg didnt focused much on lyrics but he showed that they all can rap and has that potential that we people can excpect bangers like this in future and they will prolly serves with bars when theyre adult as well this was more of showing his way that what they can do
😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Y’all I love watching Teddy’s reactions. First time I heard the song a few weeks ago I was trying to demonstrate to myself what “walking with my hips back” looked like and sooooo seeing him do the same thing has me cracking up. 😂

Ik that the writing is a little off but that’s what Babymonster had to do bc it was given by YG. But thank you for being honest and giving them respect.
You hit it on the nail. Baby Monster smash every performance they put out and it is the girls themselves that just adds that star spice to any song. Ferrari? Likely Ferrari paid YG to get a mention. These videos actually are paid advertisements for brands. Every outfit and accessories the girls wear are paid for by various brands to get a showing. Baby Monster videos usually get more than 140 million views on average with Sheesh now on 310 million views.
As you said the writing wasn't the best, actually it was so simple and basic that I'm sure the girls can write smth way better then this and the oldest is only 22, in fact they already did in pre-debut! But their rapping saved the song and actually made the clik clak part addictive, also the outro was the best part for me, it becomes like a trademark for them to have a different beat/vibes for the outros, which I like it! I hope they'll give them the opportunity to practice more in writing, esp Ruka and Asa in terms of rap cuz this two really have great pens! And can write actual bars!

I agree with the lyrics its very basic not as good as XG but maybe bc of their age. Hopefully in 2 years or so it will get better when most of them are adults
After all these years, YG and SM and HYBE still can't find a proper lyricst to write raps in English, this is pretty much embarrassing at this point and has nothing to do with artists / members. The only one that does raps properly are XG, but they're in their own lane. They transcend kpop.

you're right about the English lyrics, they need someone better writing the English bars and coaching the girls up(because they do write a lot of their own bars). It's really their only(minor) weakness right now. Get someone in there like some of the folks working with XG and they're golden. The flows, beats are all great. It's one of the things Blackpink had going for them that Babymonster does not. Teddy. However tired people get with his beats, he himself or whoever he'd get to work with the girls lyrics would understand English bars. Take "Pink Venom", it's littered with references to the greats of hip hop, not to mention more than a couple actual BAR bars.
I dont know, maybe the lyric it self written by someone from the company, theres nothing member name wrting the lyric, but the beat, i liove ittt💥 thats enough to make me dance 🕺🕺

If I understand the meaning of the song and what they are saying, I can enjoy everything... Even in the basic world you can have a strong meaning. I think they choose to do it like that for a reason when we already know that YG can wrote the best lyrics in high literature if he want... But it's also good cause it's just a debut, and their songs will be more and more better. Anyway this song is banger❤️
With respect TG, I thought Asa's lyric "Ain't a dentist but I'm flossing sis" was a good double entendre. Flossing is slang for braggin or showing off. And of course We all know about dental floss. So I thought it was fire.
They do have some punch lines but lyrics could be better. Not just them but BP too. They somewhat have rap skills but have to follow what they’re given. More like the idol not real rapper. Usually K-pop “hippop) only focuses on how to sound good and cool. YG’s lyrics usually add random words such as brurrr, ohhh,… to show the swag not the meaning of lyrics. 😅

you seem all forgot that most of the legendary songs are with simple lyrics and catchy tune. That's how they are mainstream fast and stay on top for a long time. Cos they are simple that everyone can memorize it even for kids. Also babymonster right now are literally baby, their members are 15 years old +, the songs would eventually mature with their age but it suits them and YG style great for now.
Just wait till they all are adult and see the lyrics and bars be spitting cause they need to also look at the age of the members on regard for writing lyrics
I like you in general. On this track, I can't really take you seriously as a lyric analyst when you don't even notice the most clever part of the lyrics. And no, I'm not going to bother pointing it out because the generic hatred in this entire comment section (no specifics at all) is pretty off putting. And I even agree with some of it being bad lmao.
So I like the fact that you’re into hip-hop and you get some of the history…. But coming from a rapper myself, you should know rap is subjective to your perspective, so not everyone has to follow in the same lane. It’s actually meant to evolve & and here’s a little food for thought 💭 you should keep in mind. These are young little girls not even grown women. To expect them to rap about certain subject matters that they have never experienced You can’t hold that against them… because if you are a true student of the game, you would know most rappers rap about what they’ve went through in life. Yes I agree. There are a few bars that are kind of childlike in a way. But then again, they’re young girls who have barely experienced life. XG are practitioners of the game not everyone is expected to be like them. So your critique might be just a little bit too harsh.
And as far as the Ferrari comment goes, it lands perfectly…. Just because you would’ve preferred them to use a different car does it mean that it doesn’t express the same meaning. What do you want them to be more creative for you in particular? If I’m an artist, I say F everyone I’m going rap how I wanna rap. And as far as giving homage to some of the great rappers, that’s one thing but there’s no rule that says you have to do it in every rap. Come on don’t kid-yourself. 😂🤣

Respectfully, this _is_ my job. I’m well aware of the subjectivity of art, hence my opinion. Understand that it is just that, it is my opinion. You don’t have to agree with it, but to tell me that how I subjectively view this track is “wrong”, is in of itself, wrong. I don’t “expect” them to write or rap about anything in particular. But the writing on this track was shoddy at best, and I’m not the only one to see this. The Ferrari bar doesn’t work because it isn’t the only car to go to 100mph. It’s lazy writing. You may understand the bar, but grammatically it’s all over the place. I believe these girls have real talent, regardless of their age, I expect the label to offer them the best lyrics that their writing staff has to offer. This ain’t it though!

Agree with you 1000%: virtually no bars, no substance, nothing! I am a big fan of Babymonster and BlackPink. But, what in the world YG was thinking when he gave the girls this "song" to debut their rapping talent! I kept waiting and waiting for substances, some bars which never come. Feel terrible for these girls! Is this because Teddy Park has moved out of YGE? By the way, Teddy is not doing so well with his own Black Label. It seems like Teddy needs YG as much as YG needs Teddy. Maybe the past magical things at YGE were from the combination of talents from YG, Teddy, and individual artists such as each of the 4 BlackPink ladies, G-Dragon, etc. I am worrying about the future quality of BlackPink music under YGE now. Appreciate very very much your honest assessment!
What do you mean Teddy is not doing well...he is just getting started and plus they have a global hit on their hands with Rose and Black Label is pushing the album atm.

What do you mean Teddy is not doing well...he is just getting started and plus they have a global hit on their hands with Rose and Black Label is pushing the album atm.
please react to Emtee's new album DIY3
4th grade trash bars, YG continues to fumble this group massively.
Babymonster talent = 💯
YG writing = 💩
maybe the lyrics are just adapted to bm's age
I like listening to it. But you are right the writing raps are poor. They should write thier own raps.
React to " Babymonster Drip MV " its a new song just dropped few hours ago there is rap parts as well u will love it
