    So important to consider all of the points raised! Great video :)
    A couple of people have mentioned it would be great if you could also create videos for people in their first few years of work. Navigating topics like:
    - how to ask for a raise
    - how to resign
    - how to map your next career move
    - working towards a promotion
    Etc.

  • @james.vitali

    I think the problem is most students solely pick it based on the money, then forget about the other 6 points your video raised.
    So many students i hear want to get into it for money, then complain they had to stay half an hour back at their workplace, or are so one dimensional in thinking that they cant work with others.
    Universities should really try educate people on whether a certain profession is suited to them. But hey the unis don’t give two sh**s as long as they make their money.

    Are investment bankers employees or are they entrepreneurs? I think that's an important question to answer for viewers.

    • @Padderrss
      @Padderrss 4 года назад +4

      I'd say completely employees from my experience, at the analyst level the work I did was incredibly mundane and not 'creative' or stimulating. Potentially when you rise up the ranks there is room to be entrepreneurial through approaching large tasks from different angles but when it comes down to day-to-day to tasks I didn't find it entrepreneurial at all personally. Also the hours etc took that creative drive out of me as well, ended up just getting through the week a lot. However I would say that Traders are generally a lot more entrepreneurial compared to bankers in IBD roles.

    • @cerberus_3269
      @cerberus_3269 4 года назад +2

      @@Padderrss I agree. 100% employees but the higher you get in the hierarchy, the more entrepreneurial it feels like. You get your own clients, you're responsible for your team and you have to look for new clients/business opportunities. Senior Bankers are very often doing exactly what entrepreneurs do in their business except they are doing it for a larger corporation. Bonuses/Boni also are giving you the feeling that you're doing it for yourself and not for a company because your wage is simply not fixed. In senior positions failing or hitting a major success can easily mean a difference of a quarter million++ at the end of the year. But that is also why a lot of seniors start an own business because they collected the experience, the knowledge, the reputation and have the client relationships to get their own business rolling.
      I see another PRO (no matter what people think of bankers, traders oder asset managers) but you're in a cluster of very smart and/or ambitious people. Spending everyday in social cirlces like that shapes your own mind. Of course an "entrepreneur from the streets" can also be very successful but it is certainly harder to connect to such interconnected, bright and successful circles.

    Hello, Afzal quick question. Coming from an advisory role with the FINRA series 7, 66 licenses and a bachelor's degree at age 24. Is this something investment banks look for? Thanks for the vids!

    • @gabeszymarek7688
      @gabeszymarek7688 4 года назад +2

      Generally no. Your undergrad experience, GPA, and transactional experience means far more. Series 7,66 doesn’t open many doors outside of retail advisory/wholesale. You would need a way to display exceptional modeling and transactional skills.

      generally banking at least in London and the US does not really care about your specific degree but more about your university and in general how driven and smart you appear based on your CV. So the short answer is yes, but having done IBD for 2 years as well I'd rather stick to a CS job tbh , banking is just brutal
