I never surrendered when I got Yata-locked. I would make my opponent look me in the eyes as they whittled me down 200 points at a time.

And this is why the yugioh ban list was created. Chaos emperor dragon witch of the black forest and yata garasu could have destroyed the game of yugioh in it's early pioneer years.

Many cards focusing around the Yata Lock aren't used anymore, and searching is what rules these days. Also, CED got errata'd anyway
@@erenkruger5760 No it wouldn't most meta decks revolve around throwing shit in the GY, the GY is just an extended hand nowadays.

How do you even get yata and those control cards like forceful sentry, delinquent duo and confiscation from?
People would probably manage to get this combo off on their first turn, so as second turn player you only have one draw while the first turn player has yata in hand. If done on turn 2nd and not negated then you will only have 0 cards in hand. That would give it more than a 50% winrate if done consistently.
If you're really out here stepping up to bat for Yata-Garasu's return just admit that you hate playing YuGiOh and only like the part where you win.

After 15 years finally Yata Garasu was un-banned of the ban list of May 2022 and the yata lock came back nowadays
I wonder if anyone ever teched in Marie the Fallen One. As long as you had it in your hand for the CED effect, and it hit the graveyard, Yata with its 200 atk could never bring you to 0.
Then the duel will last forever until one surrenders, lol
@@agungprastisthasurya80 Nah, one player would deck out. Unless the Yata jerk also played fiber jar, but that would break the lock and allow a chance to escape.

0:49 What does that card do
It lets me draw 1000 more cards.
It changes the ATK of all face up ATK position monsters to 100 times the number of cards currently in your deck, then you can switch the battle position of each card on the field , then for each DEF position monster, you may send that many cards from the top of both your deck and your opponents decks to the GY, then for each trap card sent to the GY this way you gain 500 LP, then you and your opponent may set any trap cards that are currently in your GY, then during your end phase you may discard cards up to the number of set cards on your side of the field and if you do you can search your deck for a spell card (except Pot of Greed) and add it to your hand.
I'm convinced it doesn't do anything
If the cards causes direct damage to the opponent; the opponent has to skip his/her draw phase. The Yata Garasu is then returned to the owners hand after the damage phase. What caused the lock is when the opponent runs out of cards in their hand and can no longer draw a card, leaving the opponent with no moves to make. Which then forces the opponent to surrender.
Pendulum Effect
You can remove 6 Spell Counters from your field; Special Summon this card from the Pendulum Zone, then count the number of cards you control that can have a Spell Counter, destroy up to that many cards on the field, and if you do, place Spell Counters on this card equal to the number of cards destroyed. You can only use this effect of "Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic" once per turn.
Monster Effect
Once per turn, when a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated (Quick Effect): You can return 1 card you control with a Spell Counter to the hand, and if you do, negate the activation, and if you do that, destroy it. Then, you can place the same number of Spell Counters on this card that the returned card had. While this card has a Spell Counter, your opponent cannot target it with card effects, also it cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects. When this card with a Spell Counter is destroyed by battle: You can add 1 Normal Spell from your Deck to your hand.

As a gimmick
A lot of cards nowadays have effects when they're in the gy to search out or ss things so I imagine that even if you pulled something like this off your opponent could totally come back unless you lockdown their effects too
Where do you get yata garasu in yugioh legacy of the duelist? I'm trying to farm for a few different decks and it would help to have an op deck like this.

@@r3zaful you do realize you would have to handloop your opponent for 5 cards and just pass turn hoping he doesn't pop off and then on your next turn attack him without any cards on his field and in his hand (if you go first). If you go second you'd have to clear his board, loop cards out of his hand and get yata on the field and attack. That is legit impossible to do even if you played against a bad rouge deck. Also don't get me started on the fact that yata would just get negated if that's your win condition.

Part of the Yata-Lock is making sure your opponent has zero cards remaining otherwise it may back fire

Nope. They changed the dragons effect script that doest trigger mage of black forrest
If you can get Yata to use it's effect before they get to draw an extra card. I don't see why it wouldn't work.
@@leonsgaming8123 No. In Link Evolution, it's the errata'd version of CED instead, which specifies that other effects cannot be activated during the turn that its main effect is activated, therefore, you cannot activate Sangan or Witch of the Black Forest's effect if you choose to activate that effect in that turn. And even if you could, it wouldn't be possible to do with Witch or Sangan anyways, as those two cards were ALSO errata'd, so the added card cannot activate their effects on the same turn.

How could they? I get adding as many cards as they can but why would anyone in their right mind add the very card that invented the banlist?
Because the game would be incomplete without it and that just wouldn't be right. Nearly every card that was available at the time is in this game and a handful of extras are available through DLC. That's over 10,000 cards in the base game.

why is his deck so illegal???
Mainly because the Yata lock is an insta win conditon, once Chaos Emperor Dragon destroys all cards on field and hand. Witch of the Black Forest can search Yata Garsu and makes it so the opponent can't draw for the rest of the game. With nothing to draw, and nothing on the field, the only thing that can happen is Yata Garasu swinging for 200 every turn.
Its not instant win if done incorrectly you can deck out.
No it's an instant win, there is no way that you will lose by deck out if you pull off the combo. You literally summon Yata Garasu until he dies, using the math if you have a 20 card deck and Yata Garasu has 200 ATK, you're still doing 4k LP to them, which is a pretty significant number, not only that but you have to consider all of the past interactions that are probably doing more damage. Your opponent can't do anything, and that's why it is an instant win.
Trusty Nail Not quite. The number of life points your opponent has must be less than 200 times the number of cards left in your deck unless you can special summon a monster to do extra damage. At the time when this card and combo was popular, there wasn't too much special summoning going on nor effects that activate from the graveyard. Nowadays, there are some options to get out of this.
@@robertlunderwood Well sure, however, even if we look at the meta decks (such as Sky Striker or Altergeist), you're still gaining a substantial advantage. The combo still gets you a massive amount of resources, and puts your opponent really behind. Sure Yata could come back, but definitely not preerrata CED

ludvel 22 there's no way to play against it. You skipped your drawing phase and you can't do shit.
Yeah. If you remove someone's hand, there's literally no escaping Yata-lock. Even when someone HAS a hand, you still have a high chance of winning because destroying Yata-garasu is really hard due to it returning to hand every end phase.
Also, considering the text was SPECIFIC to the Yata-lock, it may be a programmed game response to automatically trigger when a Yata-lock makes winning impossible.

Sangan has an errata in this game , this combo should not work
This is Legacy of the Duelist, not Link Evolution, maybe the programming of Sangan wasn't changed until Link Evolution.
