You do prove some very strong points! I agree they are good as a temporary sneaker to skate in. The board feel is incredible but, in needed to sacrifice the durability, comfort and even protection for a price point that is on par with other models and brands, it's truly a no go. I've skated both the regular versions of the Chucks and the CONS version and while they were good in their own respects, it just wasn't the greatest. Plus, I myself have a wide foot (Yes, I know Converse does mainly do narrow models and have wide models!) and the sizing transition from what I usually wear (A standard US sz 9) to a size 7.5-8 really messes with me and overall, the need to buy it online and for it not to fit properly is a huge turn off. (In the state where I live, Converse models are only seldom few while Nike SB tends to be the dominate brand...) For me I currently wear the adidas Tyshawn model as it's one of the very few mid cut cupsole sneakers that are readily available to the general public (Yes Nike SB, I'm looking at you!) And one big thing that draws me back to adidas is that I can use them stock. I know custom insoles are good and have many benefits but from what I've discovered, there are certain models in which it doesn't work. Plus, there is always the thought that what if you don't have that insole on deck in hand to use? That's why I prefer to use stock shoes.
I think adidas provide the best skate insoles stock as they just seem to work. I’ve never had problems with impact in my adidas. Vans are good too but can feel a little chunky. I’ve actually put my insole from my Stan smiths adv into the Nikes I’ve shown here. Interestingly they were exactly the same shape!
i got some etnies screw mid vulcs and quite like them. they remind me of a cheap half cab. i don't generally like vulc soles, but have been pleasantly surprised by them. the tread isn't as deep as vans, not even close, but they are pretty long wearing. plus i got 2 pair for under fifty bucks
They look pretty nice and just found some cheap too. I did actually really like skating the stan smith cup soles, but all round a prefer a high-top for that extra support and protection!
For me the value prop isn't there with Converse. For what they charge you can get a proper skate shoe from core brands. Great vid explaining all the issues and why. Sucks the weather sucks and the homie can't skate. I've been there when its crappy out and you just want to skate. I think if I could get out after rain I wouldn't care about content and just skate to enjoy.
Agreed yeah. People will probably argue they have great board feel but it doesn’t last long…! Yeah it does suck at the moment but I’m sure I’ll be able to get out filming again soon. Like you said the only chances I get atm I just wanna skate! Thanks for watching 🙌
@@iamlazyskater with those Cons you may get some great board feel but that wear you showed is no joke. Thanks for doing that because it is really telling. That is real bad wear. The shoe looked good on top but that wear on the bottom is real bad. Thx again.
Ive had the excact same experience with cons everything is great on them besides the outsole i can bald the toe area of fresh pair within a week of skating and that notd everyday say like 2 or 3 days of like 2 or 3 hours of skating each as whwre most other shoes takes at least a month to bald the sole out and jts always the same spot for me lol
Yeah man it’s a big problem. They should do an updated deeper tread IMO although that would change the whole feel of the shoe I guess. I just can’t get around that issue really, it sucks
I’ve never skated them but just looking at them I’ve never, outside the aesthetics, considered riding them. My shoe of choice is the Joslin1s. Sort of a 90s look to them and extremely durable from top to bottom and also very comfortable. Not the most stylish shoe but the function is just so so high.
@@iamlazyskater might have to be man if the weather stays like how it's been. Great to see a UK skating on the come up. Keep it up man. Hope to grow to.
I had the low top suede ones for like 7 years. Loved them for cruising. They weren't too nice for flicks or ollies though. The grip wasn't an issue on the 4 cons pairs I've had. The uppers were usually the issue by tearing where they meet the rubber by just flexing the shoe
Fair, I've had two pairs and the grips went on both fast but I was skating aggressive, not just cruising so that might be why. Makes the shoe redundant for skateparks very quickly which is a shame. The suade ones are way more durable than the canvas though yeah
I rescue old pairs of converse that people don't want anymore. That's if you outgrow them or they get too old and worn out, making them not wearable anymore. Eventually I'll start up my own hobby where I restore old pairs, I have no idea when though. But keep that in mind when you're about to give these up. I only rescue regular highs, lows and shoreline. Not platforms, seventies or extra slim fit

i don't give a shit about board feel, i don't want my feet to hurt. comfort and durability are king
Agreed. I am leaning more towards comfort and protection these days 👍

Yeah most shoes with a name to them of that status are going to be solid!
I know. In the Uk its been so bad for the weather. We're missing out on the heat wave that's happening in Europe 😂
Think we had one good week then it’s been awful since 😂 more indoor content coming I think….! Thanks for watching
