Thank you everyone for the kind words! It really means a lot. And thank you Premier Guitar for talking to me about amps and guitars, I sure appreciate it.
That is a dang beautiful guitar.
That guy makes the guitar look like a toy and sound like heaven. How have I not heard of him before? Guess I'll have to take a deep dive into his catalogue. Awesome playing! Thanks for bringing him to my attention!
GREAT TONES! And that guitar...wow...like a 50's or 60's kitchen countertop lol. Gorgeous!
I'm spreadin' the word - this man and his band can't be overlooked. Terrific songs and extraordinary talent - and just a down to earth wonderful human being.
Wish I could of watched the rest of your video but you melted my face off with your intro
Very cool vintage blues tone.
I love it!....many many videos with average musicians supported by space stations, and then you get the likes of rev peyton, kt tunstall, seasick steve, brian may etc trot in with a setup you could fit in a suitcase and they rock the world...
He has a really distinctive technique, specifically his vibrato. You'll always know its the Rev
I had the same Silvertone amp back in the late '80s. It had a clean tone so good that it could go head to toe with a Fender. I played mine through a set of Marshall full stack cabinets.
Man, he's got to be one the best slide guitarists to come along in 20 years.
Looking forward to seeing you in Cleveland this Friday
My 1484 has been modded; took out the original reverb unit and put in a small tank reverb. Also had the tremolo modded to have a wider speed spread. Really cool amp.
That was awesome!
Awesome player and they put on a hell of a live show!
Perfect person and sound for this demo. Rock on reverend
I had the pleasure of running monitors for the Big Damn Band at the Beartrap Summer Festival in Casper Wyoming. They are definitely worth catching if they are playing anywhere near you. Very high energy! As a guitar player, I wished I had time to sit and BS with the Rev. He did a fine rendition of Yankee Doodle Dixie which I believe is a Paul Yandell arrangement. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Now that’s a badass guitar dude and rig
I LOVE this guy and his big damn band. Great fingerstyle blues player.
A lot of Soul in that slide.
That is a very cool guitar. Great tone an slide
Used to play with an old Gretsch and Maggy, I dig these old amps.
Rev and gear sound great!
Wow! Dripping with tone!!
Monster Playing 🤯🤯🤯🤯best with the rundowns is not to see the gear. It is seeing awesome musicians ive never heard of before.
I didn't know this guy either, very cool.
great!
That is some right nice tone alright.
Eldon, the rest of the mentors are looking for ya!
Rev. Peyton I discovered you through my friend Teresa Cole I'm afraid she has passed away now. I miss her very much.
I had that amp with 2 twelve cab. Wish I still had it paid 100 bucks for it back in the day.
George Thorogood probably loves his slide playing!
Why am I just now hearing of this guy??!! He's awesome. And I thought Justin Johnson was the like the only good modern slide player out there! This guy is killer!
God damn!
MY NEW 1968 SILVERTONE DISAPOINTMENT I was in a band up in Canada in 1968/69 . I ordered a anew Siivertone amp from Sears. i assumed it would be this tube amp . Head and cab. As i was unboxing it i could see that the colour was was black inside. To my surprise it was all solidstate . They had just stopped making the tube style and went strictly solid state .It turned out to be ok but didn't have the tube warmness.
Smokin’ musicianship and tone.
is the reverb pedal in front of the overdriven Amp?
how are you getting so much overdrive with the input set to 9o'clock? I have a 1484 and the thing is so loud and clean.
Maybe theres a od pedal or those pickups are really hot?
SHOOT! It sounds better dry! Great Job!!!
Is that a guyatone gold foil? Looks like a tiessco
@bigdamnbandofficial - hope you can make it back to Canada !
I'd be disappointed if his house didn't look like that. If you ever get the opportunity to see these guys live don't pass it up.
I have that amp. Mine don't sound that good !
😂 🤦♂️ 🥴
Someone didn’t make it passed the slide lesson jk sounds great
Somehow you tricked that amp to sound good,😅
I grew up with these. Everybody trying to rewrite history. These were terrible amps.
No such thing as a terrible amp, there’s terrible players though 😁
Silverstone stuff were Christmas gifts. It sounds like you've never had one.
@@guitarocd9984 - You’re right, I’ve never owned one but I’ve always wanted one because I like what hear when I hear other people using them, this goes back before Jack White made them more popular. I have a fairly large amp collection that includes Fender, Marshall, Hiwatt, Traynor, Garnet, Ampeg, Peavy. We have different views about gear obviously, no biggie, have a great day.
Jack White had a silvertone amp on stage just for show. He barely used it. That's what I'm talkin about rewriting history. You never see these being used by a real band. I assume when you say you hear these you're talkin about RUclips. You can get anything to sound good on RUclips for 5 minutes. All those amps you mentioned are great amps. Go out and try one of these disasters. This was my first amp in 1965. Even when I couldn't play I knew it was bad. LOL I knew you never had one if you did you would have agreed.
I normally don’t comment, because it’s a waste of time, but these amps were made in the USA, and have a very unique and thick tone. I have a collection that includes dozens and dozens of guitars and amps, boutique, vintage, new, and everything in between. I could literally play anything I want to, and I choose to play these because I love them. They don’t sound like a fender that’s for sure, but I personally don’t want to sound like everyone else. My favorite guitar tones usually belonged to unknown musicians playing genius notes on pawn shop gear, so maybe it’s just what I was raised on. But... I love these silvertones, and having seen the inside of some of the coolest and most sought after studios in the USA, I can tell you that I’m not the only one. Most people just aren’t crazy enough to tour them. Studio only, but I can’t help myself.
