honestly gacha/lootboxes in general need to be made illegal like in europe. No matter how much any dev sugarcoats it, they're designed to prey on idiots with too much money and idiots with money they shouldn't be spending so foolishly aka gambling addicts. It's a horrible justification because LoL's ultimate skins are easily 50x higher quality than Chibi DM Yasuo, and yet they're at a fixed price of $30. That's the value Riot decided for them. Could you imagine if Ultimate skins could only be acquired via chests? It'd stir up a lot of controversy. If they're so content on DM Yasuo being the whale option, make it $30 like an Ultimate League skin and call it a day. You're statistically way more bound to get more sales that way as it cuts out the frustration of gambling and losing as well.

@@crowwithknifecawcaw Statistically, you're bound to make *way* more money putting it in a chest. If the 'frustration of gambling and losing' was hurting sales, gacha wouldn't be the widespread problem that it is.
That's not to say I like gacha, even better forms of it (that is to say, less evil, not good) where you are guaranteed to get your shiny thing at a known fixed maximum, but you know, we're not returning to a gacha-free world any more than we're returning to a world where you pay up front for ongoing multiplayer games, or a world without pay to win, or for that matter, a world where you actually buy and own a copy of a game (or any software) and have it forever, instead of licensing a service that continuously updates until and unless the service provider stops supporting the product.
The only thing I hate about chibis is the fact that they impacted Little Legend development. Poggles and Burno having no different vfx on emotes is baffling especially for their legendary variants. It feels like we’ve gone back to early TfT legendaries.
I'm not a fan of Chibi Vi solely because of her shriek whenever she goes through a portal. It's so much louder than everything else
As much as i loved seeing chibi yasuo at the beginning on pbe, he became very anoying very fast (cutscene everytime you die or kill is anoying) so i am glad he is very expensive and i see him very rarely now.
I can’t lie the idea of finishers is really smart and should be it’s on cosmetic type imo
One game the entire team had him equipped except for me because I am so unlucky
Path of Exile does this relatively well, cosmetics that come out in their loot boxes go on sale as individual items eventually. you can gamble now and possibly overpay for it or wait a few months and get it for a set price when its no longer the hot new item.

i just wish we had other actual purchasable cosmetics such as booms and arenas. those could use a little more diversity in my opinion like just random ass booms and arenas that would fit with candy-themed or star guardian little legends for example. ones that don't necessarily fit the set. the beach arena was a good start and i was hoping more would be pumped out

They can make amazing arenas! I personally went for the new dragon one from chests, and I got it. In 20 rolls. Which is insanely lucky imo. I wish I could buy it separately, but it's the same thing as the yasuo gamble

Star Guardian totally *deserves* an arena or more booms.
I agree with the philosophy there. The only thing that I have an issue with is that the project abyssia doesn't have any of the cool bonus effects that the yasuo has. No cool finisher or boom or anything, yet it was essentially the same price as the yasuo.

I would probably have gone for the Truth Dragon Yasuo, than the dream one. I know it will never come, but I just find the coloration better on truth dragon in my opinion :) Although! Chibi Spiritblossom Yone... I haven't bought any chibis yet, but that is something that could be very very interesting :) Is there a way to suggest cosmetic suggestions/feedback? + it totally make sense with the monetization, we get a lot of value from the pass alone. I've bought it since the Galaxy set.

I have a question regarding this so called "exclusive" content then. Why is there such a big difference between the firecracker jinx and dragonmancer yasuo. I payed the big money to get jinx, i really like her, but now that dragonmancer yasuo is out, i feel like i didn't get my moneys worth buying jinx. So are there any plans on making firecracker jinx cooler, say also give her a finisher or smth similar. Would love to hear your answer on that. Simon

Also the fact that Dragonmancer Yasuo is a legend to annoys your opponent with the death animation, its cool for a while but it gets pretty tedious since you have to wait for the cutscene, and I wouldn't want a full lobby of Dragonmancer Yasuo as well, still a cool legend regardless.

the skin is super beautiful, on the other hand the kill animation is absolutely horrible, I don't even want to use it anymore because every time we kill (or we get killed by someone who has the skin) we are taken hostage by an animation that we have already seen 100 times and of which we have no option to cancel it.

I really dont like the drop-if-u-want-it system, but at least the set eggs are limited to concrete set Legends, yet in case of the chibi Yasuo its insane how low chance it has...
But I also can't say its THAT bad. I invested *nothing* in this TFT set (i love dragons but this set doesnt look that good for me tho. I liked the dragon band or the DND variant of it. Ossia is pretty as fuk but... I really have too much Ossias now lol. I just dont have the TD Yasuo one, with mask).

And he was there. The Chibi Dragonmancer Yasuo. Completely for free. Ofc i paid in tft/lol before, so technically I paid for it but imagine if I was completely free player.

im actually fine with it being a gotcha system, as it doesn't really affect the actual tft game. I just wish that all mythics got the same treatment in quality...... dragonmancer Yasuo has a finisher move, other mythics don't, I don't thing there is a point separating things in rarity if there really is a differentness the the rarity system.
I imagine it's likely that going forward new mythic chibis will have finisher moves, it's new for this one
Yeah its a point that theoretically makes sense but practically doesnt, look at base league skins. Gentleman chogath has 0 particle changing effects but costs the exact same as idk high noon ashe which makes ashe a much smoother and more cool looking champ. as you get farther in development on stuff including cosmetics there is "power creep" and theres not much you can do about it. hope that makes sense :D
Tbf they really shouldn't add more finishers until there is a designated "Finishers on / off" setting in the game rather than a mute toggle.
Having other people's paid cosmetics play Fullscreen video on your game is not good looks.
It's innovation! they got a new idea and they implement it. if they send time going back and improving the skins that people already bought
1) they spend time on the monetization system, without actually making money
2) they dont spend time developing new skins, which actually make money

I like the way Chibi Dragonmancer Yasuo was implemented, I got the basic battle pass (as I always do because I love TFT) and in the first 2 free Eggs, I got him. First off, Thank you Mortdog. Second, the fact that that was possible and I didn't have to spend 10K RP like I did on PBE is greatly beneficial for causal players, even if it takes some good RNG, and has a goal for the people who like to spend more. I prefer this way than a $100-$200 fixed price cosmetic, it's similar to what they did with league skins and rerolling, with some good RNG, you can get them all.

Now explain Choncc The Wise NOT gaining a pity even after you get the 2% arena (with or without pity). It wouldn't hurt at all to just slap the pity right back onto the Choncc after you got the arena, since that's already a baseline of 200€ (potentially), yet the decision taken was to bump the 2% into a 5% and call it a day. A 5% chance is still decently low enough not to be guaranteed by 200€ worth of rolls, so what's the reasoning behind that?

I hope tft keeps putting things like dragon chests with a bunch of little legends available for the cheapest price an egg can be, they are really cool for collectors. I want to collect all little legends that exist and right now I’m putting a lot of money in for those dragon chest to get them all.
I currently have everything + 17 extra rare eggs + 1 legendary rare egg + 1 extra sanctuary of the ancients map.
Dont open the legendary egg if you already own all legendaries. It just turns into a normal rare egg. As for the extra map, I can reforge it into a rare egg, but that's a dogwater investment. So I already talked to the dev team about changing this soon

Yup, there's a market for that. Businesses can either look at the data on their end and decide what to sell it at where people are willing to pay that price or have a specialist crunch the numbers. Either way, I imagine it is difficult because in the business perspective you don't want to price too high or too low any cosmetics but at the perfect sweet spot so that both sides are happy. Great video!
In regular gatcha you could never get the pull that you want, though there are pity pulls around 50 or 100. Tbf 37 to secure feels nice. And granting a few lucky people the egg with one or two pulls is nice, if you get it with only the eggs from the battle pass it feels AMAZING.

also "have to be $200" is straight bs, $200 is the price to buy the 60 eggs that guarantees it, which means that actual average price is already well below $200, and includes a ton of other little legends.
also, the eggs do not tell you the actual numbers. it just says "there is a threshold", but it doesn't tell you what it is. Have to go digging through news on the league website to even find it.

I also agree that pricing for cosmetics in TFT is too expensive, especially the rarer stuff. The pricing of some purchasable items is as much or more than entire AAA games during Steam sales. It's pretty mind boggling. Then again, I am eternally grateful that the game is free to play, and nothing purchasable is pay to win. At the end of the day, I play TFT because it's a really fun game, not because of my avatar or arena skin.

Even though this is the best answer he could've given (both as a representative and consumer of Riot Games TFT), it still feels super scummy that the answer to "What kind of product can we make for someone who wants to spend $200" is "we'll give them 35 figures worth $6 each" and not "here is a product that we made to be worth $200"

Why the hell would it be scummy? They’re giving the chance for someone without that money to get the yasuo. Not securing it like for people that got $200, but still giving them the chance, while still giving them something according to what they paid for if not gotten
@@thechef1190 You missed the whole point of that comment. . . It's not about giving people a chance at a "$200 Cosmetic" who don't have $200; it's about the fact that instead of making items worth $200 they instead offer tons of little items hoping that they are of equal value.
