I think differential fluid would be the easiest to test with the current setup. I don't even know how one would test transmission fluid or transfer case fluid. I'm suddenly realizing how much my study of motor oil has slowed me growth or understanding these other important fluids!
Uh no, the SL category is only for engines 2004-older, and cannot be used with any ethanol mixture gasoline as it causes excessive breakdown of the oil leading to premature death.
While I may not agree with your overall premise for any specific test, I am constantly impressed with your extreme dedication to the fairest measurements and testing methodologies to get the data. My hat is off to you for the dedication to fairness and the scientific method. You really do go above and beyond. I feel that many of your "challenges" designed to show a specific point, are often quite clever, "out of the box", and ultimately very fair for the specific point you're trying to make (or test). I think you get an A+ for execution and the issue of exactly WHAT you're testing is an argument for another day. Whatever you're testing is always as fair as you can make it. You absolutely excel at HOW to test, whatever thing that you have decided to test. Also, you have the patience of a true scientist for enduring the monotony of tests as you do. I could never do that. I watch your content a lot and send emails with a link to the summaries of your videos to answer questions from others. Keep up the dedication to honesty and fairness, and I'll keep recommending to others. Overall, great content.
Chevron was a reconditioned oil at Oreillys back in the day. Very cheap. Engine seemed louder with it. I only used it when someone waited too long to change their oil. Run a short oil change interval. Then put the better stuff in. Like a safer oil flush. Problem is...they'd never come back early to put the good stuff in. Customers who won't change their oil on time... enough said...
I will say this ... Once my motor-oil stockpile runs out I plan to order Amazon motor oil. - These videos went a long way towards convincing me for the daily drivers.
I did order, and changed the oil with, the Amazon 5W-30. My vehicle states to use 5W-20, but I live in a place where 100-degree days are just right around the corner - the viscosity of 5W30 is going to be just like 5W-20 is in other parts of the country. Anyway, the other reason I wanted the 5W-30 is because most forums are saying it is usually Warren, where-as Amazon 5W-20 seems to be usually the wal-mart brand. I wanted to make sure I was getting the manufacturer tested here.
your channel is just one of a handful that I get happy when I get a notification. Always interesting information and the fact that you put forth so much effort to give us correct data and do so in a clear to understand and very friendly way. You're the type of fellow I'd love to sit down with, have a beer and talk about different subjects.
Loving this oil showdown series. You're still the most informative, unbiased, and accurate product reviewer I've found on RUclips. Keep up the great work!
Wow you put so much effort into this!! Thank you! Also you considered my tips I am very happy for that and you really engaged with that topic, as you also mentioned TBN. If you do an analysis, they also give you the amount of additives like Calzium or Molybdenum or Borium, which are also very important anti wear additives. Moreover I have a tip, so you can test used motoroil. If I am not mistaken, Kansas City is not far. Get in touch with either a taxi company or a trucking company, that uses all the same vehicles and offer them, doing an oil change only condition, you want the used oil back after the next oil change. Also take samples after X operating hours which are far more important than miles. Then you can also test and send the used oil to a lab to compare them when they're used without having to drive many thousand miles by yourself.
Except it is not legal to use in the US as it is only legal for use with engines 2004 and older and cannot be used with gasoline with any ethanol in it, and cannot be used with newer engines since it contains zinc that will cause early engine death in newer computer controlled engines. It fails the SM and SN standards and cannot be used for for engines 2005+.
You said you read every comment and I hope you read this one. This has been one of the most compelling video series I have watched in the past few years. Very well thought out and I like the way you describe every aspect even the length of time in between runs. Keep up the good work!

This is still the greatest! In previous tests you already proved which higher priced oils are hype and which are superior. This latest test both proves and gives independent data emphasizing that "you get what you pay for"! I like Amazon Basics and personally use Quaker State Ultimate Protection, but Schaeffers and Penrite are superior products for sure! The playoff battle continues! Thank you for stepping up the severity of the tests - this was very enlightening.
Excellent video series! It doesn't matter what I'm doing when I see the next episode of this series, I always drop what I'm doing and watch it right away!
Impressing me more every time. Even sending the oils out to a lab now. Love these oil playoffs. Awesome! Amazing effort! Thanks a lot! Much respect! Admirable!
This oil competition video is one the best highlights of my week! I am very confident in your testing and your explanations resonate very well with users like myself! The additive package PPM graph was extremely informative and depicted the petroleum industry's blending formula ideologies about how to sustain and survive a variety of operating conditions. It makes me ponder on believing the additives boil away and reduce the oil life's most protective ingredients...but I couldn't prove it.
I love the new extreme cold temp that you subject the products too. There has been a few times that the overnight temp by me has been pushing -35 to -40 F. Its a great test and love the data it shows!
The disclaimer at the end of the description is a good idea. However, your tests are so well done that the info derived from your tests are pretty darn accurate. If an oil withstands your test, I say it is safe to try that oil. Truthfully, your tests are more honest and fair than ones performed by testing labs. Oil manufacturers should subscribe to Project Farm just to see the faults in their tests.
This green oil has been fairing well so far. I guess green is better than purple...🤔😆 Can't wait to see how Pennzoil does in the next round since I've been using it for years.

I hate to waste your valuable time, but I wanted to say thanks again for dooing these tests. I find these videos interesting, but more importantly they are valuable in that I can make somewhat informed decisions when shopping for supply's for projects instead of just making wild guesses. If I could make one suggestion, it would be making play lists for different subjects. Like motor oils, screws, bolts, oil additives, ect... Finding that video I saw a year ago can be a little time consuming. Otherwise I'm loving your channel! Thanks again. 😎

this is the most exciting series I've ever seen since the days of seafoam content, love it!
Thank you!
Project Farm you're very welcome!!
Than you very much!!
Love these comparative tests. How about testing the reconditioned motor oil sold in some places if you haven’t done it yet.
Thank you!!
I wonder if any of the oil manufacturers watch these videos
That would be really interesting to find out! :) I hope so, this guy deserves recognition.
they must be crying each time their product is tested..
Sure do!
@@PenriteOil26 That's so cool! :D
@@PenriteOil26 Haha well that answers that question.
Yes! Another one! I'm rooting for Amazon!
And I'm hoping for Amazon vs Supertech in the near future!
Thank you and hope you enjoy the video!
@@ProjectFarm Amazin vs. Supertech vs. Resolute would be idea!
The griddle flexing in the fast motion shot was wild!
Thank you
You'd be a great teacher. I should say you are a great teacher. Thanks for the quality reviews and great attitude.
Thanks! 😃
supertech is cheaper than amazon and it's the same oil. and you can get it at walmart.
just a fyi for most people.
Great point! Thank you
Is it the same oil? I’ve always heard this, and tend to believe it, but maybe we need an Amazon versus super tech Test to confirm or deny this.
@@TowerHill102 Agreed, get the most popular oils in the shootouts
Regardless it really points out how I've been wasting money on Mobil 1.
@@TowerHill102 that's a good idea you should make a suggestion
I will say this ... Once my motor-oil stockpile runs out I plan to order Amazon motor oil. - These videos went a long way towards convincing me for the daily drivers.
Thank you!
same here, if I weren't leeching off a shop discount I'd be going with amazon myself, hard to beat for the price
@@workingguy-OU812 I personally wouldn't do that until the manufacturer's warranty runs out.
Just go to Walmart and get the Super Tech, it’s just as good as anything else and you can just walk out with it.
I know you get a ton of requests, but Rotella T6 should have been included. Theyre one of the best out there...or so I think.
Great recommendation! I'll test it after the series.
your channel is just one of a handful that I get happy when I get a notification. Always interesting information and the fact that you put forth so much effort to give us correct data and do so in a clear to understand and very friendly way. You're the type of fellow I'd love to sit down with, have a beer and talk about different subjects.
Thank you very much!!
Loving this oil showdown series. You're still the most informative, unbiased, and accurate product reviewer I've found on RUclips. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!
They say you can bet on anything in Las Vegas, I wonder if they're taking bets on Project Farm competitions? 🤔
You can't fool me, I saw it said moter 😂
lol. What a typo!
Motor oil containers should have the official "PF" seal of approval.
Thanks for watching!
PF you've made us very fortunate to have someone like yourself that truly tests these products & doesn't receive any influence 🤑 from manufactors
Thanks!
Thank you very much!
yes PENRITE WON THIS ONE! :D You go Aussie oil. lol
Thank you!
I see an American (Amsoil) vs Australia (Penrite) war in the near future......USA! USA! USA!
Did you have to run the bearing test motor backwards for the Aussie stuff? LOL!!
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie...
Hey project farm. Could you do a video on different break pads ?
I Know You're Right But you’re right you’re right. I used the talk to text. Didn’t spell check.

Can you please try gear oil in a crank case of an engine because if it has worn piston rings it should stop blue smoke

Please do a run on the 5w50 weight oils , redline, Amsoil, Mobil 1.. for the performance cars.
Thank you for the video idea!
I use redline 5w50 in my e92 bmw m3 to prevent rod bearing premature wear... the 10w60 oil recommended by BMW is way too thick for cold start.. please do a run with 5w50 oils
Thanks regardless
Can you do Dollar General Full Synthetic Oil to see how it compares to other name brand full synthetic oils

Greetings,
I have been watching your videos for some time now and have noticed how your testing methods continue to improve. You keep getting better at using the scientific method, more and more you remove variables and get more accurate results. I dunno how you find the time but please keep it up.
Cheers,
Eric
Thank you!
I love your videos man, cant wait for the next one. Thank u for getting the cooked oil a run for it money, cant wait to see the next showdown.

Great test idea! Thank you
Huge props for going out of your way and getting them tested in a lab, at your expense. You don't see that level of pro-active integrity often.
Thank you!
Thank you!
We don't deserve this man.

Can you test Shell Rotella Gas Truck oil Please
Norseman 21 yes. They have a new red colored gas truck bottle... it’s made from shell with the rotella name... so I would of loved to see that...

That's a great like to view ratio! lol
Thank you very much!
I love the new extreme cold temp that you subject the products too. There has been a few times that the overnight temp by me has been pushing -35 to -40 F. Its a great test and love the data it shows!
Wow! That's cold!
Thank you!
Theses are probably the best videos you could make! Really wannna see amsoil vs Schaeffer
Thank you
This green oil has been fairing well so far. I guess green is better than purple...🤔😆 Can't wait to see how Pennzoil does in the next round since I've been using it for years.
Thank you. Pennzoil is impressive!
love this channel and how you respond to the comments as if it were a smaller channel, been watching since the beginning.

Another great video. Never thought the brands that are winning would be the ones because there is such strong marketing and advertising on some other brands. Thanks again for helping us all gain a little more insight into motor oils.

Thank you very much for the positive comments!
I have been waiting so long for another upload! Great work as always. Looking forward to the show down! Im blown away by the Amazon engine oil! Very impressive. I am sad to see it not coming out on top but i am very happy with it

This series is so good!
Seeing as I am in Australia, looks like there is a good chance I will be buying Penrite from now on...
LukeTheJoker depending on your engine you could try Nulon engine oils. If you need 5W30 get the Euro spec Nulon because it is PAO base stock and you will not be sorry. Just don’t run them for too long like more than 6 months or 8000km.
Thank you
I've been running the Amazon basics in my "race" cars with good luck! Thanks for the awesome videos, I've been watching for a while. You must have piles of killed lawn mowers from all of your awesome "can we use.... as engine oil?" videos. Keep up the great work!

Hi Todd. Very glad to see you made a good use of my idea to do the bearing test with cooked oil.
Thank you for recommending this! I'll heat the cooked oil before testing it in the final 4. Testing becomes more and more challenging.
Can't wait to see the eventual winner of this showdown!. People may wonder, who would drive so long and so hard! I've seen my father drive almost 5 hours straight @ 60-70 mph, only slowing for tolls/gas, nothing else. going to Florida from NC. Oh' "Infamous 7up bottle".
