One thing I HATE about mma is the fact that when you try to appeal a loss, 99% of the time it won’t happen. Ofc most appeals are dumb but in the Marco Lopez and Erick Silva case, it shoulda been reversed
That's probably why he got #1 spot. The best ref around screwing up that badly... Yeah. An early stoppage (like Ankalaev vs Cutelaba, I known it wasn't Herzog here, it's just an example) is bad, but you can always run it back to clear the controversy. A late stoppage is where things actually get ugly. And I honestly expected the Yan vs Aldo fight to also be here. That lack of action from the ref made Aldo take lots of unnecessary damage.
Well the corner could've threw in the tower after 2 10/8 rounds not the refs fault smith was still in fighting mode he was alert and had his wits about.
Steve Mazagatti said he was available for an interview about this video, right after he was certain that Fitch was unconscious. He's still checking so be patient guys
I was going to say that if he was on this list of great referees, MMA on point has lost all credibility. And he wasn't on the list, so great video guys!

A better example of horrible Herb Dean, go watch the Khabib vs Mcgregor fight. he literally let this man get away with EVERYTHING, Khabib kept looking at him like bro
But... that's exactly the point. Goddard shouldn't have stood them up in the first place. On the feet, every fighter has a punching chance. Imagine if Woodley threw a lucky strike and knocked Usman cold. That would have been a result of the unwarranted stand up. It happens a lot ya know.

I'm so happy to see Mario being called out as a good referee - because he is. He made a few bad calls and got such a bad wrath, undeserved. The fact that he's now lumped in with Mazaggati really saddens me
He WAS a good ref, but in later years it was just bad call after bad call after bad call. As bad as Mazagatti? Maybe not. But he has made an unreasonable amount of bad calls to be called good anymore.
Herb Dean let Conor blatantly cheat against Khabib. Not one verbal warning or point removed. 1. Conor grabbed the inside of Khabibs gloves over three times.
