Back in the day, you walked into an arcade, noisy and crowded but you always listened for that “Day -E- Tone-Naaaaaah!”, then followed the sound like a zombie! Excellent work on bring us back!
@@cooltoyFor me, the sounds that would stick out for me most would be a combination of Pac Man eating pellets, the Pole Position red to green start along with the "Get ready" from Space Harrier. Good times.
That thing had more covid on it per square inch than any other piece of furniture in the Northern Hemisphere :D Juus kiddin', simply *amazing* work my man, that must be hugely rewarding, what an accomplishment. There's a new game, Turbo Outrun Reimagined that just came out, thats maybe one to try, but dont think it has force feedback. Great work mate, congratulations!
love me some arcade racing! cool to see the old daytona cab get a slick looking makeover. there's quite a few I loved playing in the arcade: outrun 2, intiial d, wangan midnight, daytona usa, super gt, crazy taxi... and every so often the new cruis'n is fun too.
Wow simply amazing!! The attention to detail and the painstaking restoration you have done is incredible . Great job and I’m extremely jealous of that build .
@@cooltoy I got the same taste bro, love all the bright t-molding! Makes the cabinets and artwork pop so nice. I got 100’ of bright red 3/4” t-molding in my garage for my cabinet I’m building this spring/summer.
Not sure what's more impressive, the Daytona 2 and Sega 3 board in an original Daytona USA cabinet, or the Aladdins Castle shirt from the Battlefield Mall. I swear I spent every coin I had trading it for Aladdins tokens and hitting it up after walking through the food court in Springfield. Great memories!
Schaweet! Two 👍 up from me! I would say Diddy Kong Racing for the kiddies B/C why not your the mod man, and undeniably from a branch in our timeline....and our timeline will be retold as "genesis" cannon in the future pages of The Gamers Bible!🎉
Nice! Down the road I’m likely going to add an actual seat from a racing cabinet like that. The pedestal on this unit is fine for me, but my little nephews come over for gaming and they will struggle to see the screen without a boost
@cooltoy If you want the full size one is less rare so maybe trade a collector that has one of you keep the original parts from this one you might get a full one and then you won’t need to convert it. AFAIK the pedestal is also rare on this unit so treat it and its parts kindly. If I was in the states and owned the full cab I’d trade you, as I’ve always wanted the standup version.
Great work! I had a two player sit down Daytona in my garage for a bit. It was a honker and unreliable. Yours seems like a great mix of “original feel” but updated reliability and the multi game is a big plus.
Awesome build, and hard to beat the end cost. I have never seen a stand up Daytona USA. Any place that had a Daytona always had at least a 2 seat, while most had 4. Local mallcade is great with an 8 seater, with FFB seats. And i have never seen one of the cars down. Same place has a 5 player The Grid.
@@dennyk2294 I’ve never had that issue, just make sure the paint has had ample time to dry and the temperature in your work space is adequate when applying the graphics
Cool build! I followed your a1up pinball screen mod! Would you be able to share how you configured the wheel for each game in a separate video? Working on converting a cab to driving cab and everything works but struggling to get the wheel working with each game/emulator.
Unless you are using the exact same wheel and encoders as I did I couldn’t really help you out in that aspect as how I set up my games would be completely unique compared to your set up with different hardware
Shifters are easy as they just use micro switches and can be connected to a pc with just about any kind of usb encoder. The tricky connections are pedals and steering as those require analog input signals to be read by specialized usb encoders

@TheDarkThunder Right!? That song is so addicting, it's hard not to sing it for the rest of the day after a few plays.

lol yeah needless to say I washed my hands lots and lots after cleaning the machine. I’ll check out that game, thanks for the tip 👍
No lie, one of the best driving cab restores on RUclips. Good work. 👍🏾💯

I've never played wangan midnight, I'll have to check that one out.
Wooww! A amazing Job!! The original key tô this old Arcade has a New home now! 😀 Great vídeo!
Thanks! 😀
Nice Aladdin’s Castle shirt. That was my childhood arcade. Great video!
Mine too! My parents used it as a babysitter and would just drop me off there for hours
Same with my mom lol@@cooltoy
Great game. Love this game I have an Outrun and a Cruis’n USA
two amazing games for sure!
❤🏁Congratulations Buddy
Thanks man!
I love Daytona USA so much. Always hoped arcade 1up could bring it to life. Don’t know if they could do it justice though.
I don't think Arcade1Up would do the game any favors, they have had a pretty poor track record as of late.
Wow Doug, you did a fanastic job brother! Looks absolutely awesome
Thank you very much!
Looks awesome!
Thank you kindly!
What a find Doug! Love Daytona and great job restoring this one. That Unico 26” monitor is a game changer for Arcade restorations
Yes sir, the unico monitors are such a blessing when replacing these DOA monitors. Just wish they were a tad bit cheaper.
@@cooltoy agree on that one as well
Finally a 4:3 lcd in a decent size, I’ve waited literally decades for that.

Thank you very much, a lot of love went into the build, which makes the labor part much easier.

Are you near Tulsa my man? Saw this exact machine on FB Marketplace! You certainly did a far better job than I ever could, lol
Yeah I’m a couple hours away from Tulsa in Missouri. Thanks for the kind words!
Looks awesome. Going with a PC Multicade racer will probably get way more play than a stock Daytona.
Absolutely. Daytona USA is great, but it’s so nice to have many other racing games to play as well

Wow, you're local mall arcade is special, definitely not common these days to hear about such nice set ups still in operation in places like that!
THUGFRESH this cab came out amazing omg so awesome
Thanks man, I’m really happy with how it turned out in the end
This is sweet chances are the original owners used a conversion kit. I know sega sold them for vf2/3 to convert older cabinets.
very well could be, though I think the conversion kits were aimed towards the sit down machines.
It’s not complete because you left all that rust around the shifter and that beat down artwork on the control panel, get in there and get it 100% 😂
That control panel graphic is "unobtanium" so I'm glad it was as in decent enough condition as it is. The rust just adds character 😆
I hope that SEGA brings the rebranded version of this game along with other installments in this series to Steam and GOG.
Sadly I don’t think that’s likely. Otherwise they would have done so already
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed the video 👍
You have excellent arcade restoration skills for shizzle.
Thank you very much!
You great taste bro!!!
I appreciate that!
That force feedback is insane, what an amazing job
thanks man!
Initial D is a fun arcade racer that might work in your cabinet.
Yep, got the first 3 added to this machine so far. I'm playing a little bit of Initial D 3 towards the end of the video.
Nice restoration/conversion 👍👍👍. Always good to breathe new life into those endless SEGA blue skies.
Love me some SEGA!!
Don’t forget to keep the original monitor and internals in case you want to do a proper restoration.
Incredible project. Really cool and so well done.

I'm glad you liked it! 👍
So awesome. It’s beautiful.
Much appreciated 👍
Nice. You built it better than the original
thanks, I definitely wanted to improve on it where I could
The best intro ever. This song was listenable on the new Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, and i played it non stop
I am currently rehabbing a Ghouls 'n Ghosts arcade. What kind of black paint would you recommend to use for the side of the cabinet?
Satin Black is typically what I use, as it's a nice middle ground between Flat and Glossy Black.
Have you had any issues with graphics sticking to latex paints though?@@cooltoy
@@dennyk2294 I’ve never had that issue, just make sure the paint has had ample time to dry and the temperature in your work space is adequate when applying the graphics

Dope!
thanks!
I wanna say the standup cabs didn’t have FFB? I could be wrong though
Correct, stand up Daytona arcades didn't have force feedback
Great job 👍
Thanks 👍
Any reason why you couldn't have just sanded the old art off rather than scraping it off?
Typically it just sands the surface graphic off and then creates a horrendous mess when it gets to the sticker residue on these old machines
Is it easy to get an arcade shifter to work with your PC?
Shifters are easy as they just use micro switches and can be connected to a pc with just about any kind of usb encoder. The tricky connections are pedals and steering as those require analog input signals to be read by specialized usb encoders
Are you using lots of different emulators behind 1 frontend?
Yep
I need to do a similar project! Get Scud Race/Super GT on there if you don't already. Runs really well on the model3 emu
Link to where you get your bulbs please?
Are you talking about the marquee lights or the coin door lights?
@cooltoy the marquee lights please.
I used this for my marquee lights: amzn.to/437sMUx
