CoolToy, I think Numbskull finally found a great way to get info to us RUclips crowd. These two Q&A sessions with you have been AMAZING and they couldn't have picked a better guy to interface with! I am SO THANKFUL for both Numskull and New Wave Toys for allowing me a way to bring more arcade machines into my Home Arcade. I have no more room for 3/4 scale size cabinets and these smaller replicas have been a boon! I display these amazing machines in a bit of different fashion than most. I don't set them aside in their own location, like a diorama. I instead place them throughout my Home Arcade, and the sheer trick of the eye perspective makes it seem like I have more genuine larger machines in the room. The attention to detail is what does it and it's a spectacular effect! I own Numskull's Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Polybius, TMNT, Space Invaders and Space Invaders Part II. I did try to buy their Galaxian back in the day from Amazon, but 3 times in a row, they sent me Galaga. Now there's nothing wrong with Galaga, in fact, I like the game better than Galaxian, but that artwork on Galaxian brings back a specific memory of a Pizza Joint and listening to Blondie's Heart of Glass. No worries though, as Numskull is bringing other great machines to bear! I've pre-ordered Zoo Keeper and I'm already sending my wallet to therapy to get it ready for the pre-orders of Burger Time, Pong, Lunar Lander, The Real Ghostbusters, and Robocop. And sure, it would be great to collect them all, but space, even at the 1/4 scale size, is still a limited commodity for me. I'll eat up the ones that speak highest to me for sure. I'd love to see Numskull take what they've achieved with their Space Invaders machines, and utilize that tech again on such classics as Asteroids Deluxe and Omega Race. It would be a shame to let that effect end with the Invaders line. And I can only hope for other classics such as Battlezone with it's cool view finder, Cosmic Avenger with it's crazy over the top Sci Fi art, Alien Syndrome replete with that crazy Alien Head topper, Assault with it's twin sticks with fire buttons in them, and of course, the cream de la cream, the outlandish miss-shaped masterpiece known as Wacko. See, stuff like this gets me every time and I feel the urge to list every arcade machine ever made. Thank you CoolToy and Numskull for taking the time to give us great updates and a look to the future! vgv
You’re too kind man, thank you. If you’re still on the hunt for Galaxian I believe you might be able to still find one through Game UK here: sovrn.co/18d0kg4 I also prefer the art on Galaxian over Galaga. Every time I see the side art for Galaga I immediately think of the album artwork of the debut album from Boston. :) I feel you on space concerns, I recently brought all of my quarter scale machines together for a new display I made and it was shocking to me just how much space they quickly took up once I gathered them all together. I’m also going to try and grab the new machines as they come out and I’ll have to come up with something new real quick storage wise once they all arrive. Battlezone! Man that would be such a great machine to see done in the 1/4 scale. Wacko would be worth its weight in gold just to see faithfully recreated. I remember staring at that machine for 5 mins trying to figure it out as a kid the first time I ever saw it. So many really cool and creative machines were being made in those days. Good times.
Excellent interview! Matt and Ben run their companies in a manner that represents the best of arcade and collector culture. Reserving #7 for Track & Field until the art gets licensed and paying more for tooling the Burger Time custom curved molding is something that no other company (except New Wave Toys) would do. We are so fortunate to have these companies fighting the good fight of historic preservation. Without them, these machines would be lost to history. The only arcade machine more authentic than a Quarter Arcades machine is the original.
GREAT interview! I've been selectively buying NWT cabs, but after hearing this interview I want to support this company as well, I'll jump on one of their cabs soon!
I have their TMNT cabinet and it's absolutely beautiful. It's so accurate to the original it's scary. I'm extremely excited about their Real Ghostbusters cabinet. It stinks to hear they are having trouble with all the licensing and will be delayed.
I love this Ceo and love all of these cabinets that they have made. I got Five of these bad Boys, My favorite is space invaders 2 zookeeper and Burgertime that is coming out. Can’t wait for the Pong cabinet as well.
This guy gets it. As a veteran graphic designer, what I love most about 80's toys and videogames is the highly detailed artwork and illustrations. The box art is just as valuable to me as the actual figure. The paintings were fantastic. 80's toys have aged well along w/ the box art, but let's face it, the games for the most part, are pretty bad and don't hold up while the marketing artwork has. I love pinball for the fact that both the gameplay and marketing art have stood the test of time as well. Now games today are incredible, but the box art and marketing is the opposite. It sucks. It's glossy, it's not authentic, it feels souless usually.
Thank you for the interview. Was hoping for one or two announcements. On the other hand it's probably better for now. What's already mentioned. These QA aren't cheap. Hopefully they figure it out with the licencing issues with Robocop and Real Ghostbusters. BurgerTimes looks great. So happy that that one comes out in 6-7 months.
Awesome interview. Although after him saying his last name, I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from turning into Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs and in his voice yell for his dog.....PRECIOUS!....PRECIOUS!.... HEY DON'T YOU HURT MY DOG! - As you can see, it's truly best a professional like yourself did the interview as he would have ended it with me immediately 😂
Mid eighties to mid nineties is where all the $ and interest is, I would imagine. Too much focus on early stuff. Pac man ok, but get to the good stuff. I'm 50 and even I don't really care about the early stuff. Bought tmnt, 7up hub, pepsi soon, and happy about bad dudes. Number one would be Robocop, so fingers crossed. Final fight and street fighter 2 and a red neo geo cabinet are kinda essential. Hopefully all that licencing can be worked out.
Omg I am getting my first numskull zookeeper one. I'm looking forward to it❤😊 when can we get ghostbuster or are we going to get that one soon. So gor halloween we have it❤😊
Cool toy, next time you talk to Matt or Ben, could you please ask him about an update to the firmware for the Zoo Keeper title? It’s an 8-way stick, but in its release state, it’s not registering the 4-directions properly causing the player to stall in movement, leading to a character death. The game is almost unplayable as it is. I’m not on FB so I don’t have access to the ‘group’. Thanks.
I own almost every QA game....You HAVE to figure out how to get the DK license if you want to go elite. You HAVE to. Whatever it costs. Make a quarter arcade Donkey Kong....DKjr. I am telling you....make it! That is your Field of Dreams.
In my opinion these companies should help support the Arcade machines which are literally vanishing not the ones they made 5000 or more of the machines! Like Rare Games... TAITO's Night Striker, Galaxian 3 and many more!
Problem with making rare and obscure games is there isn't a large enough market of consumers wanting to purchase them, thus they don't make financial sense to recreate.
@@zilla66 it’s not really a matter of it raising the asking price, but a matter of no one being able to get the original artist that designed the artwork to sign off on the deal
@@dragongamer2670 full sized machines would be really expensive to make, let alone ship to a customer. Surely you can understand why that isn’t being done.
