While I had been a Verizon customer for around 6-7 years and was having a great experience, I was also paying quite a bit! In looking for ways I could easily reduce my expenses, I came across ads here on RUclips for Mint Mobile.
After doing some research and exploring the options, I realized I could save $600/yr by making the switch!
If I had a phone plan and good quality service coverage that allows me to continue doing everything I had been doing with Verizon, but pay ONLY A FRACTION of the cost, then you've got my attention!
The economics alone was more than good enough for me to give it a try.
After 3 months of use, I'm now at the point of renewing.
In this video, I'll give you my review based on my experience using the service, and I'll walk through some of the considerations you might want to make before thinking of switching over.
I'll also answer the question of: Did I renew after all? Was the great price worth it?

NO man omg.. this service is terrible where i live. I live outside of HARRISBURG the state capital in a burough omg this service is not good. I get disconnected a lot. In order for me to receive pass code text I have to shut my phone off and turn it back on. People cant hear me half the time. Important calls go to voice mail my phone does not even ring. You can TELL the difference. The only reason i switched to mint was because i get like 10 calls a month. NOBODY CALLS ME except people i do not want to talk to. The calls that I do get are important like my doctor and other appointments. I was trying to save some money other than spending 60.00 a month. I was just on the phone trying to pay my capital one bill the balance and it was like you wish to pay the minimum due... and i was like what... nobody else can hear me correctly. I use to work for Verizon and can tell you they own their lines it is not beneficial for them to let other venders use them and NOT BE CUSTOMERS and because net neutrality is gone they can manipulate those lines any way they desire. I will give this a few more months but no matter how much i like Ryan Renolds i may have to go back.

I pay AT&T a whooping $91/month. Service is fine but that bill just frosts me every month. I never cared until I retired and went to a nominal, fixed income. I love Mint Mobile for the obvious reason. $15/month vs $91??? And yes, it was easy to switch. Just swap the SIM card, go through the Mint app and choose "keep current number." IF you are with AT&T you will need to request a special TRANSFER PIN (your existing PIN won't work) My phone number transferred in less than five minutes and your ATT account will be automatically terminated.

I am in my first yearly renewal period after getting 6 months for 3 month price and would absolutely NOT go back to AT&T even if the price point was the same. Better signal strength and data speeds with Mint though I use wi-fi for most of my data so that would not be a big deal I enjoy having better service for a fraction of the cost

I recently switched to Mint. This guy is right on...The only negative experience in the switch-over was with AT&T. I was not under contract. Owned my phone. Current on my account. AT&T made it very difficult, from having my account on a "Fraud Alert", for no reason, to "locking" my phones...Unbelievable. The most important detail, if you have AT&T wireless, YOUR account # is not anywhere on your bill. You have to obtain the "wireless" account # from AT&T. What should have taken a couple of hours, turned into a 21 hour marathon. Glad I switched, so far.

The wife and I just started with them, it is our first month. We switched from Spectrum, paying $100.00 a month for 30 gb of high speed data for me, and 20 gb for the wife. We decided to do the Unlimited for $30.00 a month for the both of us, and so far so good. The only down side was it took like half a day for them to transfer our phone numbers. They gave us temporary numbers while we were waiting, so not a big deal. Everyone e we have told as asked us to let them know how it is so they can see if they want to change thier carrier or not. So, I will keep everyone posted. Liked the video!

Very satisfied that I chose Mint. My wife and I live overseas but we travel a lot to the US. Typically we'd buy a T-Mobile prepaid card (roaming fees from our home provider are astronomical) but recently we needed to acquire permanent US numbers. We didn't want to be paying heaps for a number we hardly used. Mint's plans were the cheapest around and so many online positive reviews helped seal the decision. We had great coverage during a recent trip in remote parts of upstate NY. Back in our home country, we each put $5 into our Mint Roaming Wallet (which you don't need to use btw, but you do have to activate it). Mint offers free Wi-Fi calling and text when traveling outside the US... and it works great! We've made and received calls, ditto with texts. We're very impressed and will be doing an annual renew soon. PS - I tested out sending and receiving texts when not on a Wi-Fi network and was charged 20c a text. Into our 3rd month and I still have $4.60 in my roaming wallet :D

We have been using Mint for 3 years. It has been great. We have good coverage in our home - which can be a problem with ATT and Verizon. So bonus there. Plus I work from home and and being a mature adult adult, I don't feel the need to watch videos when I'm not at home. The $15 monthly option now is 5gb per month anf I rarely exceed 1gb, so it suits our needs. My daughter appreciates Mint as well since she's on her first job and just starting out.

Been using Mint Mobile for several years. I am not a heavy user of data so I don't need unlimited plans. I have been extremely pleased with the phone quality and availabllity in my area. My phone automatically switches to WIFI when I'm home which is flawless in performance. I don't mind pre-paying for a full year to get $15/month effective rate. In my area (Virginia) I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Mint. If I want to watch videos, I hate watching them on a phone - what is the point? And I watch videos on my computer(s) at home. Speed of connection has never been an issue and many times that is more dependent on your hardware and processor. Thankfully I shopped for the best processor and ram at a certain budget and my OnePlus phone even after two years has been blazing fast.

Thing is I use my smartphone as a phone. When it comes to data since most of the time I am at home on my WiFI fiber service this is not an issue. In my car the data service has always worked for maps. Thing is this service does not use that much data bandwidth to use.
Have also used the LTE service at Coffee shops in the area with no problem. Could use the public WiFI, however feel until they change WiFI feel more secure just using LTE. Also since I am on the yearly "Unlimited" plan how much data I use is not an issue.

Renewal more than double the costs. Not happy bad business practices. If price remained the same word of mouth would make Mint a # 1 company but , offering unlimited data , talk & text at 15 dollars a month than more than doubling price Is deceptive...

my biggest issue with mint was their Recovery Fee. they basically used recovery fee (legally) to recoup any free stuff they give you and for monthly charges. when i ordered my “free” sim card, when i got to the payment screen, there was a Recovery Fee for $5 which was the amount they charge for the sim card, so i actually had to pay for the sim card after they added the recovery fee. and after receiving my sim and activating card, i was charged extra on the 3 months i prepaid via a recovery fee which was about half a months service cost. when i bought a yrs worth of service, the Recovery Fee was $15 which is the cost of a months service. so i basically paid for 13 months but only got 12 months of service. a rep at mint said they are by law allowed to recoup free stuff and monthly charges. i didnt stay long after that cause im not paying extra service fees. i didnt like that they give free stuff only to have to pay via recovery fee.

So I’ve been thinking about mint mobile for a couple of months now because I do want to save some money and with my rent going up things are going to be a tad bit tight for me.
Now I’ve already understood the concept that if you pay at least for the first three month trial thing, you pay a nice, decent chunky Mount upfront and that covers you for 3 months.
I was thinking about the 15 GB one for $20, and even though I can do the digital eSIM delivery because I have an iPhone 13 with a Sim card in it, that’s compatible with the 5G network that mid mobile runs on, between the taxes and surcharges on the checkout screen, even though I didn’t actually choose to purchase it and the recovery fee, it only looks like it’ll come out to around $67 and change which to me isn’t too bad because I’m currently on T-Mobile and I pay 86.30 for a month for my phone service with them.
So hypothetically, if I was to pay for the three months at $20 a month despite the eSIM recovery fee and search charges, I would be able to make that payment back to my card next month with what would have been the payment for T-Mobile with a little bit left over and then two months equaling a little bit over $160 in savings in general.
I guess I feel lucky to have a Sim card with 5G compatibility on my iPhone 13, because I think the recovery fee would be more expensive if I had to have a physical chip sent to me, but I don’t.
There’s another video I watched besides this one, and this video, if I recall, said that, if you don’t like the service, you can jump back on to T-Mobile or what not, but neither video clarified how easy to process is, and how the process to jump back to your old phone carrier is done and if you leave and get back to the same price you were paying before because let’s say I jump on mint mobile and I for whatever reason I don’t like it and I want to jump back on the T-Mobile, will I get back my $86, $.34 a month fee or will it feel like I’m a brand new customer jumping on in which case I might get a higher price or what not.
What and how easy the process is of jumping back onto your old phone carrier if mint mobile doesn’t work for you wasn’t really explained in detail that much in either the previous video I watched or this one and if the price I have that I’m paying now on T-Mobile I get back if I jump on, because I’m not sure how many of you out there we’re worried about your safety net option if meant, didn’t work out for you because if let’s say, I don’t like mint mobile and I end up, jumping back onto T-Mobile, my bills within the next two months are going to be kind of tight as it is, and I don’t want to be paying more jumping back on the T-Mobile if it seems like I won’t get my current price that I’m okay with.
So again, in hindsight, I understand, helping the decently chunky amount of front to cover a couple months helps you out and some peoples comments on your hair mentioned, realizing they use less than what they paid for in the initial test in months and maybe or maybe not I will find that out as well, but it’s never really explain what the process is like jumping back onto your old phone carrier and if you get back the price you were paying before.
And I fully understand that mint mobile piggybacking on the T-Mobile service means you would be treated as the secondary customer and 71st, but I guess I’m kind of glad I have an updated phone with 5G and usually because my phone no is my Wi-Fi at home in my apartment, my Wi-Fi is always on when I’m at home so much like other peoples comments on here, I probably use even less gigabytes, and I realize when my phone is connected to Wi-Fi instead.
But I would like to know if the process is just as easy to jump back to your old phone carrier if you don’t like mint mobile and if you get that same price you originally had back on you or if it changes.
    🤷🏻‍♂️

I will be going back to t mobile for $70 per month for 2 lines, mint is OK, but it's not that great, it works, but you do get deprioratized data from actually t mobile post paid customers. There many areas where service is slow and the circle just spins, , while my friends that have t mobile have no issues at all. $15 plan permonth is actually $20 because if all the fees and taxes, it is ok,and it's less expensive that t mobile. No question about it. But you have to be ok with slower speeds, and lately I have been using more than 4gb of data per month. So I need about 10gb, which now costs a bit more.

Going to be honest: I appreciate the effort, but I feel like I listened to this for 11 minutes and didn’t really learn anything. I get it you saved a lot of money. But how did the service compare? Give specifics.
I think most viewers want a review on user experience before porting their number out for 3 months or even a year. I don’t care about Ryan Reynolds or their funny ads. What were your data speeds relative to Verizon? What about mobile hotspot capabilities? Did you have dropped calls? Missed calls? Was service decent inside office buildings?
For context, I used Mint for about 6 months a couple of years ago (probably 2018?) and the service was so abysmal that I canceled a few months early, even though I had paid for a year. I kept missing calls from clients, despite being in the middle of a city of nearly 1M people. The final straw was when I went on a weekend trip to an area that supposedly had 4G LTE service, only to find that my phone was a paperweight. For me it wasn’t worth the unreliable service, and I moved to an AT&T MVNO.
I was really hoping to get some insight on whether this had changed. This review didn’t really help me all that much.

My perspective is from a fairly casual user (who I'd imagine to be the typical user out there) with most data-intensive usage happening over wifi. On the network, my ability to use the apps I normally use, the speed and usability was indistinguishable from my previous service provider. I'm sure there are other videos out doing the speed tests you're looking for.
No dropped/missed calls. Not often in "office" buildings, but have not had an issue in any building or on the road thus far.
Sounds like in your case, if you travel frequently and work w/ clients, having service through a major provider like Verizon/AT&T/T-Mobile would likely give you the reliability you're looking for.
The only point to mention is that I'd suspect Mint Mobile network is better than it was 3-4 years ago. Would be unusual if there was absolutely 0 improvement, since T-Mobile acquired Sprint and they're continuing to build out infrastructure. But if you're getting a good deal and experience from your AT&T MVNO, certainly stick with it!

That $15 per month is only good for first three months for new customers, and renewal prepaid for 12 months for 4G.

Unless you create a “family’ plan. Then you can pay the yearly price - quarterly

@@chien-shengtsai8626 me too, i am waiting for my sim card. ive used mint in past and the service is good, but my biggest issue (not sure if they still do it) was their recovery fee. they are legally allowed to give you free stuff, but when you check out, they add a recovery fee that totals the amount of whatever they gave you “free”.
when i bought my first sim card, the gave it free Until i got to payment screen and they charged me $5 recovery fee the price of the sim. and when i bought years service, they charged me $15 recovery fee above the year amount which is equal to a months service, so i paid for 13 months but only got 12 months service. called and asked about the recovery fee and was informed by mint rep that they are allowed by law to recovery any fees lost by promotions. so they can claim to give you something free, but then charge you a recovery fee for the same amount and its still legally considered that they gave you something free even though you paid for it via a recovery fee. i didnt like that, so j left them. seemed scammy to me.

Mint should not be allowed to advertise $15 per month since that's only initial promotion and then only when renewed for 12 months prepaid and not refundable. It irks me to hear him glibly advertise $15 per month. Now I am using Tello Mobile at truly $14 per month, and get international calling free, with 2 GB data, which I don't use since I use WiFi.

Mint mobile was the worst mistake I could have made to save money. My phone barely worked if at all.

Had Mint on a recuring 3 month plan. 9 months in they charged me for a year and would not refund the excess charged. Dishonest company.
