Dr G was born blind. He taught himself play. He has several albums. Most are written and composed by him. Indigenous Australians prefer we do not speak the names of those that have passed.. Hence Dr G. I agree, the song he did with Delta is simply amazing. He has played all over the world. Not bad for a blind kid from the middle of woop woop.
Probably a good thing Angie wasn't there 4 that song. She seems a kind hearted woman and I wouldn't want her to cry, even though the song is about his love for the land. Lotsa emotion that transcends all language barriers. Ty for sharing mate.
the guitar is strung right handed but he was a leftie so plays it upsidedown, he played keyboard too. he was in Yothu Yindi when he was a young man, you can see him in the video for their song treaty.
Listening is not enough. Need to witness the performance, then you are able to listen and appreciate. So pleased with your reaction. Hope you have experienced more of his music.
We'll, I know what he's singing about and I'm a white Australian. I love Gurrrumul. His voice really touches me. I was interested so looked up the lyrics.

His mother said that if you close your eyes and listen, you will know him. He sings of his life and his land and he sings from his soul. ❣️❣️❣️
A beautiful voice, a beautiful soul. He touches your heart and soul without having to understand the words.
The song is about his dad and his love and forgiveness towards his farther..
Long live King Geoffrey...we will never forget you brother, you were an angel sent down from heaven to bring peace to Australia...much love forever. X
