Lawrence Fearon Right and everything they are doing to the SL is Horrible. That is why all the older SL’s prices are going to go up or stay exactly where they are at now.
Let me ask you though if a person has a choice between a 2015 SL 550 and a 2009 SL 63 both with extremely low miles which one would you suggest? Just some background this person is into performance but also like the newer styling.
money4385 R230 SL’s are definitely going up with the technology advantages they offered like the exotic power roof. Plus they had a leather wrapped power roll bar standard. They are the only generation with ABC standard and not optional for truly flat no lean cornering with an impossibly smooth ride. ABC just demands early PREVENTATIVE maintenance to provide 100k+ lifetime. Wood/leather shifter with top mounted start button has swag for days like the rest of the interior.

Good video brother. Enjoyed it. I am coming to the conclusion that Mercedes Benz makes the most classy interiors. Would love to learn about Fort Myers as a possible place to buy real estate. I want to buy a winter home in south florida in the next couple of years. I'm going to make a trip down there this year just to look around..

I virtually never need to carry one passenger let alone 3.
Unless one has kids then a two seater is fine.
I just sold my Z3M roadster & replaced it with a low mileage R231 SL500 in hyacinth red with cream leather. Not the AMG SL63 admittedly. But not much less power or performance. It's more than enough. In fact I'm in awe of it. The fact it takes an extra 200 or 300 milliseconds to reach the legal speed limit compared to the AMG is immaterial. 0 - 60 in 4.5 is fine with me.I'm loving it to bits. I considered an SLK55. But they're almost as expensive. A great little V8 roadster, but less car for the money. SLK55 £55k new. SL500 £85k new but only £3 or £4k more second hand for the SL. And it's an almost all aluminium engineering masterpiece
When I test drive an Slk55 I felt the engine was special. When I drive my SL500 the whole car feels special
Man your review on this car is absolutely awesome. My heart is set on this car and you just made it more tempting. Its a beast of a car. Do you think its still worth buying this shape or the face-lift version eg. 2018?

I have been dailying in a 2015 SL65 I got for 140k with 10000 miles on it for two years. My experience is mostly similar to yours, quite reliable, nothing broke down on me yet and I have put some miles on it, 30k to be exact. Mercedes cpo warranty pretty much covered everything for me. The only things that bothered me was the somewhat shakiness at very high speed (120+), sluggish gearbox and speakers not functioning properly over Bluetooth in that the subwoofer of the B&O audio system only works with some specific audio files, and never works over Bluetooth. I heard that can be fixed by installing an amp tho but I’m too lazy to do that.

I know Mercedes recommends following their oil change schedule. Ignore that and change the oil every 5k, trans and diff fluid ever 30k. Your turbos will cook the oil. Steve Jobs drove an SL daily, so you can daily drive it too.

But you cant calculate reliability with a car with such low miles and short ownership. Not enough time to experience vehicle fatigue.

How the car feels in the 3 digits ( not as planted ) is simply due to the fact that it has no actual roof. If you had the S 63 AMG coupé instead, it would behave the same whether you're going 55 mph or a 150 mph. When this came out, it was the convertible that was the closest to a coupe, rigidity wise. This is a car I'm considering; I prefer the facelift version , however it's like 25-30k more expensive....
The key to reliability on any car is not just following the maintenance schedules. For " petrol heads " such as I am, do more Preventive Maintenance :change parts before they give up on you and your car will never fail 😎

Did you have any warranty on the vehicle? Was it from Mercedes
I usually buy with a warranty but not with the SL 63. My SL 63 had 8k miles when I purchased it. It was barley used and was serviced by my local Mercedes dealership. So I felt comfortable pulling the trigger without buying a warranty.
So when do you think you will be trading this one?
i plan to get rid of the SL 63 by end of this year.
