- It looks like this is the end of the road for the AMG SL63 Roadster. It's a shame because under the hood is a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 577 HP & mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. It features a folding hard to so that you can have the best of both worlds. On the inside is the usual the top shelf feel of a typical Mercedes Benz. Does the 2019 AMG SL63 Roadster deserved to be axed?

I love everything about this AMG SL63 Roadster except its RWD only and I'm an AWD Guy.

TBH can't really wait to see the 2021 Mercedes SL, hope to see some prototype testing out there and currently only get to see mule testing SL with E class body.

Right now it’s a no buy. Until it gets refreshed like all the sedans and suvs it is not up to par with the competition.

The trunk will not close with stuff blocking it.

Drive an SL top down along the east coast I-95 to Florida for 650 miles and you'll understand why theses are the best convertibles ever made. That Lexus LC500 you just reviewed isn't even close.
How about used 2018 Sl 400? If i look for ccomfortable and little powerful convertible?
Definently a super gorgeous car and almost great numbers...I wonder how much extra hp you can get out of that engine. Not so sure about the price, even Mercedes have better options at that price range. Loved the review, I feel a little bad for the new owner picking it up after this but at the same time he can get a free review on his own car lol. I think it's a great car and I do understand the price, but still it feels a little pricey. Great review like always Joe!

the GT is my dream car, and after watching both review videos from you, i have to say i understand why the SL is getting axed (atleast the AMG version) it is a no brainer for me to choose the GT instead. the looks much better and updated interior and priced about the same

Joe I really love LOVE ...... the AMG line of Benzies. I love that they trickledown that F1 technology into these street cars. Let me ask you though.... idk the answer to this, but is there a smaller AMG Benzie like a Hothatch or something close to a Gti or WRX or RS? Is there something in that line that can be somewhat comparable to those cars ??? Thanks!!! Great review as always

The fact that in 2019 they still had that stupid and ancient phone dial is completely ridiculous and absurd on Mercedes Benz designer’s part. Thank God they finally got rid of that hideous looking plastic button’s.

The interior is kinda nice but it needs an interior almost same as the other new Mercedes cars
Mercedes let it lag to far behind.
If your tall this is the car for you. If you want a sports car, but want it to be able to be comfortable at the same time, get one of these... It has a split personality.. I drove a AMG GTR, didnt feel faster by much... and was far more cramped.. I dont care what people say, people say its a floater or not sports car, they are wrong.. it has an under rated 577 HP, I have done the quarter mile at 11.43 at 126 mph, and half mile at 17.8 seconds 151 mph.. it handles awesome as well. 0-60 I have done 3.6 seconds according to my draggy, and it was dead on with my quarter mile runs at the track... I love my 2018.... the model you have I dont like the interior, I have carbon fibre, I dont like that white..... Car is slow to kick down is my only complaint about the transmission.

Design is a bit last decade when this series was hot. I would save the cash by getting the AMG GT or GTS which performs better and looks better as well.

I dislike the back. The front of the facelift is fine. But the back still kills it for me. Shame because I love the R230. I hope they refresh it and make it a hardtop convertible again. How else is it going to set itself apart from the AMG GT Roadster.

2009 sl 65 black series is the 2nd greatest sl besides the 300 gullwing. This car nice but get crap on by Mercedes very own sls amg and s class cabriolet

I'm going to have to zonk the paint, to me it looks like crappy polish job on primer. For 166 clams, I'd be happy with a new C8 or GT500 and a lot of spare change.
I get your point about the paint. I don't think anyone is going to cross shop this with a C8 or GT500.
