CHICKEN TIKKA SAMBER - This time Chef Abdul Mannan cooks a dish that's often overlooked on BIR menus, but deserves rightful recognition. The samber curry is loaded with lentils, augmented by lemon juice, and amplified with chilli powder. Often it’s a simple affair in restaurants and takeaways being like a dhansak curry but without extra chiili, lemon juice, and no pineapple or added sweetness. Nonetheless it's a cracking curry.

I have a couple of bir style Indian cookbooks. A notable omision in both of these is sambar. Is this in your book?
Thx for this, samber always been one of my faves. Looking forward to trying to make it.
Just made this tonight EXACT same as the video, superb, better than most sambers ive paid for and as good as the best ones ive paid for.
Thx very much for your videos.
This is a new one for me. Something I've not seen on the menus in my area. Looks great.
This looks so good 👌🌶️🔥
Banging for that now. 🤣🤣
Not seen a samber on menus in Leeds. When i lived in Manchester pretty much all takeaways did them
It’s pretty much a dhansak without the sweet?
Wow is right
Looks lovely
Looks great and very local to me as I'm in Warrington. What is added at 1.19 and sounds like dhaal? 👍
dhal.
Hi Richard, can you recommend a source for a curry pan like the one you are using. I tried your website but the link to the one on there comes back as not found (its an ebay link)...anything on Amazon?
Have a look at www.eastathome.com. They sell curry pans.
Where’s best place to get lentils from? Are they red or green lentils to make the paste?
All supermarkets have lentils, you can get whole or split lentils, ive been using morrisons split red lentil and they fine, just boil / simmer in water for 20mins before you make ur samber / dhansak
@@jt6945 great stuff thank you. Our local supermarket only does green whole and they turned out dreadful, clearly I did something wrong 😆 I’ll try green again and failing that I’ll find a Morrison’s cheers 👍🏻
Is it just the sweetness which differs from a dhansak?
There's lemon juice, no added sweetness, and the Samber is hotter.
