The only AC bossfights that comes anywhere close is the second-to-last boss in Assault Horizon, where you duel your traitorous former wingman inside of a tornado. But even that one is held back by the inherent issue that Assault Horizon's gameplay is kinda bad, and for some reason they decided that that would be the ONE mission in the entire game where the soundtrack DOESN'T go unreasonably hard. And then to even further undermine the dramatic tension, there's a whole as other mission afterwards, where you have a way less epic fight against a way less interesting villain.

The game is set on our earth long after Yellowstone erupts. In the aftermath a new, very dangerous but very valuable material called Cordium is discovered. Its used in the warheads of the cruise missiles which you had to try and intercept in the previous mission. You fail to do so and the result is what you see in the video.
Whats the story behind the stuff on the ground? Like what happened in the story for earth to end up in a post apocalypse scenario? I've never played project wingman for context.
Context: this is the mission 16 (Wayback) and in-game it happens almost immediately after mission 15 (Consequence of power). In mission 15 enemy faction (Pacific Federation) uses this game version of nukes (using fictional material corodium), against faction you play as (Cascadia)(but actually you and your wingman are mercenaries hired by Cascadia). However, Federation didn't account for weapon corrodium reacting with passive corrodium in ground, which caused basically majority of Ring of Fire to ignite, creating geothermal storms and volcanic eruptions across Ring of Fire. This game set in our world, but with major geographic and political alterations, so this mission happens in Northern Alaska.
