As I was watching you sing with your mom, I wondered what is she really doing? I love this! It is a message that everyone should listen to at this time...now 2020! Thank you for your work and sharing it with so many. I hope to see more of what your important and very relevant work.
Thank you Sally Taylor: I was Dyslexic as a child I don't have an issue with it now but I love the use of art and pictures to convey. It was how my mind worked as a child, it also helped me as a learning tool to make sense of everything. I have been learning to use surrender from a video by Eckhart Tulle, so as I listened to your video what followed was a series of promptings and it lead to Dyscalculia, my dreaded topic. The subject is blocked as I feel physically sick. So thanks Sally, sickness, one to surrender. Appreciate so much all I got from your video. xxx
What a very worthwhile thing to watch. I'm so stuck in my literal, practical, fact-y head all the time.. this is a concept that offers a way out of that. I thought it was going to have to be psychedelics (psilocybin or mushrooms). We all listen to music and dance, but I like the idea of listening to music and drawing, or imagining a dish that conveys the mood of the music.. Wow. This is a bit ground shaking for me.
I think Sally is so interesting. Years ago I listened to Howard Stern interviewing her brother and mother- they were absolute sweethearts! Lovely people.
For years, I have been involved in a group of diverse people whom have never met one another doing parodies on classic film favorites. It's been an extraordinary experience to read other writers' version of the same story. For instance, I tend to stick closer to the story line while others go all kinds of places in their segment. How it's done is that we each take a part of the story until the tale is told and then I write an epilogue. We've built a strong community of friends though we've never laid eyes on one another. This we've done for 8 or 9 years and we're still going strong!
Art being used as a converstiaon, i literally do this eveyday. Being Dyslesic ill be talking to my boyfriend on the phone and always descirbing a person in veisual ways to finally remeber there name. But i work thought the visual before my words come to me. but that was a soulution i found with out school, being nerodiverse we find our own comping mechanisums. Your and your partner are pure joy and insperation to me, thank you so much. xx
Sally Taylor does a great job of methodically, articulately presenting a very Big Idea which should resonate with everyone from artists to educators to philosophers to scientists (whose numerical language still hasn't successfully explained all the mysteries of the universe). The arts offer myriad windows into the human experience. The more windows you have, the more you will see. The more beauty you see in the human experience, the more likely you are to float despite setbacks. The more active a role you play in your own flotation, the more you will feel like you are flying. The school initiative she describes sounds amazing, and I’d love to suggest this 3-week curriculum to the head of our daughter’s school. Sally, if you’re out there, do you have any thoughts on how to approach that?
Every person is emotional, they cannot assume what they have is more or less than others. That you have parents is a condition, unlike all others, they have no credentials, they have little experience and you are likely not their top motivation to invest in. I see that kids from all levels can rise or fall. But i cannot dismiss the level of opportunity that some have due to the parents and family. I can only say that many are so envious, but we cannot know how we would have been or what we could achieve, it takes support, by someone somewhere, no one really does it alone. Who do we become when the models around us are clueless about education, arts or discipline.
It's a song called "King of Hearts" by Ben Thomas. It's available only on Consenses CD at consenses.org or www.shopconsenses.com/shop-art-for-your-ears
T Leigh I also was left wondering why your mind was so focused on that and not what she was saying. Perhaps listen to this again and take more from it - it’s actually very poignant. Public speaking can be terrifying. Have you ever done it? It’s not easy.
Hmmm....I didn't notice it. So deeply involved in her articulation of a brilliant concept, conceived and created with genius. How about you take another listen? you will be amply rewarded.
I am totally blown away by the creativity of your idea, Sally Taylor. Compliments from here in South Africa.

Students would have had the opportunity to be completely confident in what they were discovering, because there was no right or wrong. Just freedom.
Wow. This can be done on any scale with anyone. Really cool.

Extremely well said, Evie
What a beautiful lady.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of a skirt she's wearing. It's definitely different. She's a beautiful young lady, and so smart and talented.
Very interesting talk and look at dyslexia.
amazing.
Looove this!

I'll have whatever she's having.
I do that all the time. I’m all over the place. I’m taking off here and there. My stbx says, “ you don’t listen!” . Thank you. So he left. Lol.
Is she James Taylor and Carly Simon's daughter?
yes
Yes she is.
I was separate from this conversation.
Not too many aristocratic dyslexics, new shtick good stuff.
I am not Dark Killer and don't know who that is.
So every artist involved was paid for their content and contribution, right?
The breathing so loudly is so annoying and distracting.
Is that all you heard? My heart goes out to you.

Wow really I didn’t notice
What breathing?
