I started with a tiny one leaf seedling when Thais first came to Australia, now my Thai is huge. Over a metre tall with huge leaves. I'm so proud of him.
"Hey guys, I think I have everything that I need right here" - me with a nice cup of coffee and a relaxing video from Melissa just after finishing work for the day 🥳
I can’t help but admire the Monstera theme of this video. Monstera work mat, master Monstera Plantologist and, of course, a Monstera plant. What could be better, lol. Seriously I think the plant is very beautiful. Yesterday I repotted a large aglaonema that is one of my first plants and the soil was disgustingly contaminated with fungus and mold. I’m amazed it survived. It has a great growing environment now thanks largely to your instruction. I swear it was smiling at me his morning! Thanks
Just read that slime mold is not harmful to the plant and in fact, helps breakdown organic matter. I suppose from an aesthetic point of view it may be less than desirable to some.
ohhhh. i bought mine as a 3 leaf seedling and now its at 6. seeing yours makes me super excited as mine seems to be nearing fenestration stage based on your plant! yay! your thai con has super superb awesome variegations though! 😍
I've seen people spray the roots down with hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Maybe that will help ? They take the plant out and clean all the dirt off the roots. They give the roots a good spray with hydrogen peroxide. Before replanting. They didn't water down the peroxide either.
Thanks! I'll like the table this way for a change. I like the other way too since the light from the window is good but sometimes the ikea cabinet behind me appears really bright and my ring light reflecting in it bothered me lol.
Are you sure that is a bad fungus? Or could it be the mycorrhiza fungi??? If it is that then it is beneficial as you are adding the fungi into your pots?
I have a thai con coming this week I'm so excited lol what do you think about terracotta pots for them ? I have my regular monstera & my albo in terracotta currently
It's up to you really! If your other monsteras are in them and they do well for you then I say go for it! Congrats on your Thai!! I prefer plastic pots but I know a lot of people love terracotta 🤗
If you’ve had it in the first place and the this is the second time why not do the fifty -fifty mix of water and hydrogen peroxide to insure it won’t come back a third time. It would be a safer way to protect it.
I probably should have but I guess I didn't feel like it haha. I think the soil wasn't getting enough airflow. Messing with Thai roots scares me! I think I'm traumatized by the first Thai that died 🙃
They're not very tall, I would say probably a foot at most! They're definitely not ideal for long term! I get green garden stakes at my local hardware store and use those too and they can be 2-6 feet tall ☺️
Hi Mel I need your thoughts on this. I have won a giveaway and seller is asking ne to take a P. Melanochrysm (rooted with 2 leaves) or a monstera aurea cutting fenestrated with less vareiagtions. Please help me to pick one
Are you sure it's a Monstera Aurea? Is it a delicosa or a standleyana? - that would be more comparable in price. Melano's are a bit more difficult imo as well. If you love velvety philos and want a challenging plant lol then go with a melano. The standleyanas are slower growers but if you love variegated plants and that yellow then go with that one :) It's easier too!
@@plantsbymelissa aww thank you so much It's monstera deliciosa aurea . I know Melano need more humidity I don't have cabinet or humidifier. Hopefully one day I will be able to own one. I do love velvety leaves but I think I can't afford its thriving conditions. I can share pic of aurea in instagram💚. Thank you so much once again

Wow! This video is 2 years old and I just got mine today.😊
Aw congrats! Yeah this video is definitely an older one of mine now. I hope yours does well for you! 💗
@plantsbymelissa
Thanks!
I had no idea that was called slime mold! Thank you for sharing this video ☺️
You’re welcome! 🙏🏼

It’s a beautiful plant. And thank you for sharing with us.
My pleasure 😊
She looks amazing !👍
Ready to get tall 💚☘️🌵🌱
Thank you! Can’t wait to watch her grow more ☺️🙏🏼
I looked to see if you have an updated video on this plant, I didn't see one. He is beautiful and look forward to seeing him again.
It rotted in sol soils 👎🏼 it’s growing beautifully again and showed it in my recent plant update last month!
So sorry to hear that, I will check that out.

Beautiful Thai 💚
Beauitful.I dont have the Thai rigt now I will be getting one when I move.Happy growing and stay safe.
Thank you! You too!
Love your videos, you are so calming…. Thai, It’s so pretty!! That mix is really good!
Thanks so much 😊
if you're leaving mosquito bits in the soil, that's probably what's causing the mold.
Gorgeous!
It’s a nice view for a change.

prettiest plant ever!
The variegation is beautiful 😍

Thanks for this video. Now I need to repot mine because I feel the soil stays too moist.
You’re welcome!!
😍 beautiful monthai
Thanks 😊
Omg I just saw your other video where you said it rotted after this! Why do you think it rotted in Sols Soil?? 😩😭
It looks so chunky and airy 😢
Absolutely Beautiful 🙌💚🪴 Kudos! Starting with a one node cutting ❣️🙌💚🪴
Thank you!! I'm glad it did well for me! I was so sad to lose my first one ☺️
It could be poor aeration also. Get better air flow around the base of the plant maybe ?
Where is your potting mat from?! It’s so cute! 🪴
thank you! I love monstera :) it's from www.theplantdrip.com
@@plantsbymelissa I can’t find it on their website 😩

Hi there, can you please tell me how did you root the node? I have a small node with a root in leca, but after 1 week it was mushy. Thx 😊
I used moss! Make sure to you have good light and humidity :)
Tienes para venta ?
What is the mix you put your cutting in? Thank you
It’s sol soils :) I have them linked in the description box! I have a code with them too!
How tall are your acrylic poles? I found some and saved them but I think they were o my one foot. I think I’m gonna need something taller.

What about little brown worms
Nice vid, subbing

This pot is a nice size for presentation but crunching them roots down like that made me cringe. I’ve grown many of these.
could have used a 7 or 8 inch pot...
