Girl please don’t apologize for having your cats in your video or chopping your plants. This is your channel and your plants, if someone doesn’t like it then they can leave. Love your content!!
Your Albo’s are beautiful ❤ As for people mentioning your babies (cats) they are part of who you are an I personally really enjoy watching you interacting with them as your doing your planty things, they are just like children and if your attention is taken away from them they have to try and distract you lol. Xx
Haha yes!! Thank you!!! 🥰 They definitely know when I bust out the camera and start talking 😂 they have to come and see what I’m up to and try to help me fold out my potting mat and knock everything off the table so it’s clear 🙈
I love your cats and the way you interact with them. They’re your family. Don’t apologize or try to explain it. It’s their house, too. People can be so insensitive 😑 xoxo! 😘
This is a ridiculous statement. It wasn't insensitive. When you put something out into the public, you have to think on a broader scale that just a personal one. There by taking into consideration that somethings are polarizing for a great many, that might be okay with a few. The idea for any RUclipsr is to build a larger audience, and to help as many people as possible. MOST people don't come to a channel like this to have to deal with unruly animals, or other off-topic distractions. They want to hear about plants, and hopefully learn something they didn't already know. Some just want to see the plants, and their progress. But while that particular poster decided to mention how annoying it was to them, thousands might not be that bold, but instead just never come back to the channel, which defeats the purpose. People like you think it's rude or insensitive for someone to share that concern, although yours is not only an erroneous statement, but it's also ignorant and shortsighted. Discourse between people is VITAL to a sound society, and any attempt to squelch it is counterproductive and shallow thinking. With the goal being to help as many people as possible by growing the channel, you have to take into consideration anything that is polarizing, and try to eliminate it from the production. It's called being professional. And while she clearly is not a professional, the goal is to always strive for a more professional product, as that is what people gravitate towards. To close, when you put yourself into the public eye, you have to expect differing opinions to all things, and just because something is different from your perspective, doesn't make it rude or insensitive. In fact, I could accurately argue that YOU are the insensitive one here, by attacking someone else's statement, with little understanding of the bigger picture. Reacting from emotion instead of logic and factual information almost always leads to poor results.
Absolutely wonderful video, from both aesthetic and plantology viewpoints. I learn a lot watching your videos and this was no exception. I’m glad that you are feeling better from your cold. My wife and I are also recovering from recent sinus illnesses that made us feel miserable and good riddance. I think your cats add a nice touch of charm to your videos and your interactions with them allows your kind and caring personality to show through. Thanks again.
One of the advantages of a moss pole is that the vine itself becomes a complete root system so that you can then cut it anywhere and have a new plant without having to worry about propagating or even losing the plant to root rot. Huge advantage especially for plants that are highly variegated and or just difficult to prop.
Thank you for your amazing video. I loved seeing your gorgeous plants 😍😍😍 As for the cats, I'm not a cat person at all (I am a dog person 😅) but I love all pets/animals. Please don't fret over people leaving inappropriate comments regarding your cats. It is a privilege and honour for us to see ANYONE filming from there home. Respect always 🩷🌿🩵
Love the tropical paradise and the “wildcats” you’ve got there! Great video’s you create and they always hold my interest. Glad you’re feeling better. 😊🪴🍀
Love your Albos. I've been on the hunt for one for the past couple of months. I have three little dogs and every time I'm in my plant room working or on the floor potting or making moss poles, they have to get in my lap and walk across my potting mat. They are my fur babies and want to be a part of what I'm doing just like your fur kitty babies. It's cute how they want to be a part of what you are doing.
Thank you!! Yes!! They definitely want to be a part of what you’re doing and to help! 🥹 I can recommend @aroidparadiso on IG he sells some on eBay but I actually got all my albos from him and my aurea 😁 I found him thru a private Facebook group and his plants do amazing!
Melissa you have the most beautiful collection and makes perfect sense because you are/were a nurse. Nuturing is strong with you. (Said in best Yoda voice 😁 To the people that complain the cats are in the video.... 😼SERIOUSLY? *Biting my tongue (finger) hard* Don't even acknowledge them Melissa.
Thank you! 🥰🤗 I try not to reply to hate comments or I just delete them or ignore them and I try not to engage but sometimes I get a little feisty lol. I love the kitties 🥹
My absolute favorite plant creator! This video was great, I 100% agree that moss poles are not necessary for monsteras and I’ve actually had negative experiences with using moss moles on them. I’m curious on trying out some slow release fertilizer since it’s helped your albos take off, I’m definitely going to look more into that. Thank you for such an informative video and I loved seeing you aren’t scared to cut and separate! My albo intimidates me a bit because of the price tag but this was a reminder it’s just another plant like the rest.
So we just moved back home, (a few state drive ) and it had been really cold and 97% of my plant collection died. Including my albo😞. (We had moved previously about the same time and only a few losses so I thought they would be fine 🤦🏻♀️) But a friend who helped my mom and I move bought me an albo.. I pretty much cried😂 I was so thankful. I’m glad I watched this because I was thinking about putting it on a pole. But stake it is lol. Also I love the cats coming in, it’s so cute how they are so interested. (And they love their mama)
Oh no! I’m so sorry!! I would have been so sad 😭 I hope you can slowly grow your collection again one day. Such an amazing gesture!!! That makes me so happy to hear! 🥹 I really hope it does amazing for you and thank you so much! 🙏🏼
if that person doesn't want to see cats in videos then they should make their own videos without cats. i personally love seeing them come in and out of frame, seeing their names pop up. your albos are absolutely beautiful! amazing variegation
I enjoy watching your videos and that includes seeing your cats playing....Keep up the good work...and thank you for taking the time to make these informative videos
Your cats are so cute and I really enjoy seeing them in your videos 🥰 These albos are stunning. I got one some month ago and absolutly love it. I hope you feel better 🌻
Hi Melissa Great video (as always) I have 1 Monstera Albo and I can’t wait for it to mature enough to propagate. Like you , I want more 😊 and mine has great genetics, so “come on baby grow mamma wants some new plants!” To each his own… I prefer terracotta. They are my pots and moisture meter in one. I can tell the by the color changes when the plants need watering. So depending on the plant, and color of the pot I know when to water. This makes watering so easy for me with about 150-200 plants. My wall mounted and hanging pots are in plastic. And as far as your furbabies they love their momma and there’s nothing wrong with them “photo bombing” in the videos…they’re adorable! “Opinions are like a__holes, everyone has 1” 😅
Hi… I’m new subscriber and lived in the United Kingdom where we’ve got really cold weather then warm weather and it’s really hard to grow monstera variegated especially I’m just a beginner with monsteras where I do love it a lot! Your videos just give me wanted to start all over again and I’ve just ordered my third monstera( the albo is not happy & gone and the rest of my favourite monsteras just won’t grow on me 😫) hopefully with the new one arrive I could do much better , fingers crossed 🤞 Btw, your cats so adorable and love to see them ❤
Congrats!! If you have a good amount of roots then you can definitely transition it to a chunky mix :) I like to give them a week or 2 to acclimate to reduce any stress.
There are many, many sites showing large form Albo's. And growing them on a moss pole does give them better rooting systems, and an overall much healthier plant. Do you have to use a moss pole for these plants? No. But the largest and best looking Albo's that I've ever seen were all on moss poles. Just food for thought, as you can choose to grow them any way you like.
Hi Anna , I love watching the video, no worries I have a cat the same way, I would appreciate if you keep me in mind , when you do your cuttings for the varagated monstera plant, I hope that you feel better take care.
I think it’s amazing how every Albo looks different. I wonder if all of yours came from same mother plant? They look very similar too each other. Very beautiful 😍💚
Thank you! I wonder that too! lol I actually got them all from the same seller but didn’t realize my first one was purchased from him until after I bought the second one and recognized the same! 🥰
Do you find your monstera albos grow more slowly? I purchased one as a cutting and I can see it’s grown a root finally after recovering from root rot. It still hasn’t given me a new leaf and it’s probably been two months.
Hi Melissa. You mentioned that you won't be fertilizing for winter. I was wondering if you think plants indoors with good grow lights, as warm as normal and the same humidity, know it is winter. Should we treat our plants like it is winter, even if they don't know? Thanks for the video and info!
Hi there! The slow release will still fertilize my plants over winter! I just won't add anymore because I added some a few weeks ago so it will last until spring. I still would fertilize in winter if the plants seem like they're growing :)
Do you always propagate the Albo in water, first...I was thinking fluval stratum after that...how long in water? Just purchased an Albo that developed stem and aerial root rot, so had to cut...The top cut has no roots, has two leaves as had to take off one to get the growth point showing.. How long does the complete rooting process take in Fall before putting in a chunky soil or do they prefer pon?
Never apologize for your babies. They are all about you and your life. If they don't like, tell them to kick rocks...lol You my friend don't need them.
Lots of light has helped for sure! I think my regular watering routine has helped too but hoping I can keep them looking their best for awhile. I know browning can happen with these though 😔
I bought a variegated monstera and the leaf comes with it turns yellow and brown so i cut it. But the nodes start making a root. Idk if would be survive
My cutting wouldn't root in spagnum moss like the seller recommended. As soon as I tried rooting it in fish water I had roots starting within like 2-3 days.
I recently got an albo maybe 2-3 months ago and it hasn’t done anything! It’s three leaves. I was wondering if it could be a spent node. How would I determine if it is? If not how do I encourage it to do anything at all lol
My first albo took such a long time and each one is different. Is it a top cut then since it has 3 leaves or still a mid cut? It should produce a new leaf from the lead leaf if it’s a top cut or you can try and look for the axillary bud it’s usually hidden down towards the leaf petiole and node in that little crevice. I would increase light if you can I think light is the best thing at getting them to grow ☺️
Melissa, I have fallen in love with your channel and videos!! I just bought my first monstera albo today and need to learn from the best!! Are you still an RN? 🤍 I take my NCLEX tomorrow!
Who would complain about the kitties peacefully strolling in the background? Wtf I need to repot one of my albos but I’m terrified it stays mad if I dare messing up the roots 😢
Haha it was my unboxing video I did recently. They were a little excited that night but most of the time they don’t get in my way too much lol but I love having them in there with me 🤗
I must admit that the cats are annoying when they distract from the points being made, or break your train of thought. I actually think you did a much better job of controlling the cats in your earliest videos. You didn't stand for them interrupting you back then, and took decisive measures. It seems you've relaxed on that as your vids have gone on. IF you don't care to be as decisive with them anymore, then you still have the option of taking a more clever approach than just allowing your pets to control you instead of you controlling them. For example, you can feed them right when you start videoing. BTW, you are videoing, not filming. Never understood why so many YT'ers use the term "filming" when most of them weren't even born when film was still being used. So, if the cats weren't fed leading up to the videoing, and then were offered food, they will surely spend the time filling their belly's instead of being a constant distraction in your vids. Just food for thought that I hope helps. Lastly, some many people probably think that that poster was being rude to mention the cats. But those people are being shortsighted, and I don't agree with them. I believe that poster was pointing out something important, that could be very useful to the growth of your channel. Most viewers come to these vids to see and hear about plants. They didn't come to deal with people's pets, problems or other off-topic subjects. They just want to learn something about plants, and see how nicely your plants are doing. So since the goal of almost any YT'er is to grow their channel, it's wise to try to take a more professional approach, and keep focus on the plants. While I'm not the person who made that comment, I have to admit I was feeling the same way, and thus why I decided to chime in here, once you mentioned it. Einstein said that their are thousands off solutions to every single problem in the universe. So I've never understood people giving up on a problem, and just relenting, when there are thousands of solutions waiting to be found. Once you start looking at things from different perspectives, you'll find it's not enough even to just find a solution to a problem, you should always pursue the "better" solutions to all problems.
Please don’t apologise over your cats - they are cute! I love to see them ❤
Thank you!! 🥹😩 I love the kitties!! I’m happy everyone else loves them too!
The internet was made for cats and cat people will come out fighting to see more. 😂 Ignore the haters.
Me too.

I’ll air layer too if they’re difficult to prop!
Nope, first time here and I didn't see your moss poles until afterwards.
Love seeing your cats with their names popping up, so cute and your plants are amazing too 😊

Hi Melissa
Great video (as always) I have 1 Monstera Albo and I can’t wait for it to mature enough to propagate. Like you , I want more 😊 and mine has great genetics, so “come on baby grow mamma wants some new plants!”
To each his own… I prefer terracotta.
“Opinions are like a__holes, everyone has 1” 😅
Thank you! Hoping yours can grow more for you soon! 🥰
When you said you were a nurse and addicted to buying plants, I felt that 😂
haha I had a new plant probably every week lol
Hi Melissa. I love your videos and I enjoy seeing your cats hangout with you while you do plant stuff. Tell Luna I said hello!
Thank you! I appreciate it!! 🥰🙏🏼
Hi Melissa, another great video. I love ur albo’s & I also love ur cats they r so cute inquisitive 😻

I love seeing the cats in your videos 🐈 🐈⬛ who doesn’t love cats? 😂
How do you keep them from browning?
Just got my sweet monstera albo!! ☺ It's currently well rooted in moss - would you move it to a chunky soil?
Congrats!! If you have a good amount of roots then you can definitely transition it to a chunky mix :) I like to give them a week or 2 to acclimate to reduce any stress.
I Love the cats and anyone who does not like it can go somewhere else!! Cats and Plants, I cannot think of anything better

I just bought my first cutting and I don’t know much but I’m working on stepping out of my comfort zone to find my passion 🥹
Not related to this video but how is your cutting from the last Etsy sale doing?
About the same! The growth point hasn’t done too much else yet. I definitely can see it but it’s just tiny!
Do you always propagate the Albo in water, first...I was thinking fluval stratum after that...how long in water?
Just purchased an Albo that developed stem and aerial root rot, so had to cut...The top cut has no roots, has two leaves as had to take off one to get the growth point showing..

how you stop leaves from browning/drying?
hiii, hope you can help me!
What kind of grow light lamp thiny, should i get for my Variegata? just cut a cutting, and need to make some roots
Never apologize for your babies. They are all about you and your life. If they don't like, tell them to kick rocks...lol You my friend don't need them.
How do you like the soil mix?!
I am looking to get some of this plant but it is so expensive. Do you have any small small pieces that aren’t that expensive?
How do you keep the white from browning?! That’s crazy!
Lots of light has helped for sure! I think my regular watering routine has helped too but hoping I can keep them looking their best for awhile. I know browning can happen with these though 😔
My dream plant 🥹 they’re just so dang expensive and out of my budget🥲
I bought a variegated monstera and the leaf comes with it turns yellow and brown so i cut it. But the nodes start making a root. Idk if would be survive

Hello, what shelving do you have on the back wall?
I know this is an older video, what has been your preferred propagation method for your cuttings? Thanks !
Just water and good light. I use my tap water and sit the plant my south window and they usually get a good root system in about 6-8 weeks!
Thank you so much 😊
I love the cat cameos 😂 don’t listen to that person

Personally, I love to see the cats.
Hi there! how did you prevent your plants after separating and repotting from going into shock and thrive?
We want to see more cats! 😸
Yay!! 🤗🙌🏼
What seller did you purchase your Monstera Albo from? Thank you in advance, hugs to you.
@aroidparadiso you can find him on instagram :) I got all my albos and my aurea from him. I recommend 100%
Melissa, I have fallen in love with your channel and videos!! I just bought my first monstera albo today and need to learn from the best!! Are you still an RN? 🤍 I take my NCLEX tomorrow!
They are all so beautiful, I would rather have an Albo than a Thai.
Love the cats. If someone’s doesn’t want to them on here, they can go elsewhere.
Thank you!!! 🤗
Who would complain about the kitties peacefully strolling in the background? Wtf
I need to repot one of my albos but I’m terrified it stays mad if I dare messing up the roots 😢
Haha it was my unboxing video I did recently. They were a little excited that night but most of the time they don’t get in my way too much lol but I love having them in there with me 🤗
Do you know how many footcandles?
People are nuts! How does cats in your home bother a viewer? They are well behaved, quiet cats. It’s their home too.. the Albos are beautiful.
Soil do not get old
Yes it does. It gets hard, packed down and loses nutrients.

roots do grow inro a moss pole. you couldn't be any more wrong.
