I think I cracked the sandwich code. All ingredients have taste and power values. But the top 2 flavors (order matters) give +100 to a power. 1st sweet 2nd sour gives +100 catching. The reason the big sandwich works with any herbas is because the ingredients add to over 100 encounter. The only other power those ingredients give is catching, so as long as it’s not a sweet sour sandwiche the +100 bonus doesn’t matter.
The value for ingredients is based on each one you put on the sandwich. So great dessert vs ultra dessert sandwich is a good example. Bonus power from the sandwich are catching item drop and egg. But the bonus from the ingredients are +75 item +38 egg and -9 catching. However it’s sweet sour gives +100 to catching which is why it’s first. But when you add strawberry for ultra item is first and catching is second on the sandwich. Item goes up to 96 and catching is -12 (+100 bonus) is only 88. Hopefully this makes some sense.
Update on the Burgers, not ALL of them produce encounter, supposedly Electric & Dragon do not get encounter. Ill update this post when more info is found.
Hey Austin, I discovered a way to get the other paradox pokemon shiny with your OT! You set up a 2-Player Union Circle then fly to Area Zero. Both put down a hard save then either co-op sandwich for the same boost or two separate ones for different types. After that both head down to Area Zero and hunt in different areas for a shiny. When it shows up, the person that found it puts down a hard save and calls the other over to catch the shiny. When that person soft resets, it’s there for them too and you repeat the process for another shiny.
I got a shiny litleo out of chance, but i’m thinking about actually hunting for a shiny this time around and these guides will definitely come in handy. I’ve never hunted before, so hopefully i’ll have the patience lol
A hot take but people should stop calling it shiny hunting, it's never been so simple to get a shiny, we getting to a point where people have more shiny than regular, I for one would prefer they rework the system and improve odds without giving players entire strategies for getting shiny, it's no longer impressive when you see a shiny pokemon

This is so helpful. Sandwiches seem unnecessarily deep but these level 3 sparkling/shiny/encounters seem refreshingly simple. I've been chilling in that one cave where larvitar spawn through the wall for 3 hours with just level 2 rock encounter, no shiny so I gave in and decided to use my only 2 salty herba mysticas. Good to know there are alternatives but the 'any two' recipes are a lot of stuff to put on... It also took me ages to get any salty herbas, I think they are more rare which is why they make the easiest sandwiches, but still worth the trade for a shiny larvitar.
Hey there, I originally made the updated image with the any-two-herb recipes that use the hamburger, and just wanted to add a note: some combinations of herbs (sweet + sour was one I found) will give catching power instead of encounter power, so be sure to save beforehand in case it goes wrong! There are more combinations that give encounter power than catching power I believe, but it's something to keep an eye out for just in case

tbf, the old recipes *are* trash now, on the basis a lot of them required 2 *decently rare* ingredients, while also requiring specific ones. The new recipes, while heavy on the easy-to-get ingredients, only require you to remember one ingredient for each type, and you can mix-and-match any herba mystica, so its way more efficient.
I find when building the any herba sandwich putting the burger down first to the far right gives the easiest sandwich builds. The burger is normally the toppling problem.
I found it easier to put the green peppers and onions across the bottom and then top those off of the tomatoes. It creates a kind of flat stage for you to place the rest of the ingredients including the hamburger.
Just used thunder type sparkling power in area 2 of the crater and within 10 minutes while patrolling the canyon where iron thorns pops, I got a iron shiny! Tysm for you recipe guides!
@@cangel8563 look it up. 1 tomato, 1 onion, 1 green pepper, 1 hamburger, 2 of the "type ingredients" (what you would use one of in a normal shiny sandwich), "any" 2 herba mystica (although some combinations of HM are a bit dicy.)

I want to let you know of a weird thing I've seen at the auction house - not fully sure on steps to reproduce but it has happened to me twice. It has nothing to do with the time of day because it doesn't occur around 11:59 / 12:00 rollover, just randomly in the day. Basically I look at what's on auction, participate in one of the auctions, then go around and talk to all the outer vendors that sell sandwich ingredients. After bulk buying ingredients from the left two vendors, my auction items are refreshed. I can only make it happen once a day, but will keep trying to figure out exactly what is going on. Either way, just wanted to let you know in case you hadn't seen or heard about it yet!
This is crazy cause I was in a group last night shiny hunting in Area Zero with a friend; they were shiny hunting me an Iron Hands and I was shiny hunting them a Sandy Shocks. After the time ended they asked if I could just restart my game after the timer ran out for me. Started it back up, perfectly fine, all ingredients back in the bag.
I think it may have been an oversight, but it's only the items that land on the sandwich that go towards the recipe. If it's 2 herbs, butter and peppers, for example, you can reach grab peppers, but only put one set on if that works; just toss the other set on the table.

I’ve used sandwiches once, and got 3 shinys- 2 scream tail, and 1 flutter mane, the only flutter mane I found during the 30 min. The first shiny was in under 3 min, too.
What's crazy is that I did the duo sandwich method without resetting (thanks for the idea, will do that from now on) and I needed normal powers. I just happened to use Mayo and it turns out Mayo is the only one that works for normal from your testing. I'm shocked that 1/1 attempts I got it right. I thought I could use anything and Mayo was something I had a decent amount of. Serendipitous!
I've been using the new Recipes for a little bit now and I found the best way to make the sandwiches (with tomato, green pepper, onions, and burger) is to stack the tomatoes on the left then put the burger on the right and stack the onions and peppers in the middle then just put whatever else if it is small enough in the middle, and if it's big put it on top of everything

@@interestedviewer2097 put a Mirror Herb on the Pokemon you want to learn the Egg Move. Make it forget a move so it only has 3 moves. Find a Pokemon that currently has the Egg Move you want, put those two Pokemon in your party alone together. Go into a picnic and then exit immediately. The Mirror Herb Pokemon will have the move. The Mirror Herb will not be consumed and can be used an infinite amount of times. That's it!
I found an evolved Dolphin in a raid. So if you do enough of those hopefully you can get one. Doesn't help if you're trying to evolve a shiny though sadly.
Hey John, Awesome video, so thank you. As for you Sandwiches, I got a better idea for you. If the final taste of the sandwich is salty, you get encounter power. Therefore, using this will work on all types. (Type ingredient (Eg Avocado for Dragons), 1x Salt Herb, 1x any other herb (not bitter) and 1x Salt) will give the sparkling power, title power Nd encounter power 😁 I hope this helps i tested this myself
I've done some general sandwich testing, and I believe if you miss the sandwich with your fillings, it effects the point totals toward your powers. So if you're playing multiplayer (even up to 4 players, according to my theory) if everyone but 1 person purposefully misses the bread with their fillings and they disappear, it should have the same powers as a single player game (though i'm realizing you can't miss with your condiments). Serebii has the list of ingredients and how many points they represent for each power and type, but I haven't figured out quite how it works. Sandwich science is an enigma

I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble getting herba mystica from 5 and 6 star raids. On my violet copy i’ve gotten a lot of herba mystica as i’ve done many raids but i’ve been playing through my scarlet copy and i’ve completed the game and post game and gotten no herba mystica at all. I’ve done many raids on my scarlet copy as well and I was wondering if this is a bug or if i’m just extremely unlucky. Does anyone have any solutions?

Just wanted to say I successfully evolved Rockruff into the Lycanroc dusk form. Found own tempo at lv25 and kept an everstone on it until in-game evening when I gave it a berry and then a rare candy to get it to lv30. Worked perfectly.
For the second (or any number of other players) you can throw away any ingredient they use, and that doesn’t affect the outcome of the sandwich. I’ve been getting scarlet (switch 2)area zero shinies with my violet game( switch 1) without wasting any ingredient
So what I found out with making the burgers and what other people probably found out is that you can’t use any type of hm. If you use sweet hm and sour hm they won’t give you encounter power. Any other combination should work tho

If you have scarlet, the misdrevious paradox pokemon only spawns at night, so if you use a shiny sandwhich with ghost encounter then enter at day, it will force spawn only shinys of them.

I tested the electric while hunting Iron Hands, and it worked for me. It is a hard sandwich to make, so that affects it.
Had a question about EXP farming. Is there a way to get Encounter lv2 and EXP lv2 + to farm Chancey's for exp at a really fast rate?

But dont forget, with the harder to make sandwiches, if you do it in cooperative you get bigger bread so the space isnt as much of an issue

Dont mix sweet and sour herbas if ur hunting ghost! The encounter becomes catching power. Any other combo u get encounter

I was just using double sour but it turned bug to catching power instead of encounter power.
I've tested Steel, Poison and Dark as well. It replaced encounter with catching as well. I think you're just not supposed to combo those two.
The Dragon sandwich can't be made with just any herbas, if you do sour and sweet for the dragon sandwich you lose dragon encounter 3 for capture rate
Same goes for ground and steel, maybe for all other types as well; with bitter it always works though

I found an evolved Dolphin in a raid. So if you do enough of those hopefully you can get one. Doesn't help if you're trying to evolve a shiny though sadly.

As for you Sandwiches, I got a better idea for you.
If the final taste of the sandwich is salty, you get encounter power.
Therefore, using this will work on all types.
(Type ingredient (Eg Avocado for Dragons), 1x Salt Herb, 1x any other herb (not bitter) and 1x Salt) will give the sparkling power, title power Nd encounter power 😁 I hope this helps i tested this myself

I've done some general sandwich testing, and I believe if you miss the sandwich with your fillings, it effects the point totals toward your powers. So if you're playing multiplayer (even up to 4 players, according to my theory) if everyone but 1 person purposefully misses the bread with their fillings and they disappear, it should have the same powers as a single player game (though i'm realizing you can't miss with your condiments). Serebii has the list of ingredients and how many points they represent for each power and type, but I haven't figured out quite how it works. Sandwich science is an enigma

I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble getting herba mystica from 5 and 6 star raids. On my violet copy i’ve gotten a lot of herba mystica as i’ve done many raids but i’ve been playing through my scarlet copy and i’ve completed the game and post game and gotten no herba mystica at all. I’ve done many raids on my scarlet copy as well and I was wondering if this is a bug or if i’m just extremely unlucky. Does anyone have any solutions?
you need to beat certain pokemon to get herba mystica, probably the one you did in scarlet not beating those certain pokemons

gonna drop this here but my friend shared to our inner friend circle this recipe and it's way easier to make a solo sandwich since outside the hamburger the rest are tiny and since they're the same thing it's easier to remember and stack them.
Shiny hunt sandwich:
Use 4xfood for the type + 1 hamburger + 2xwasabi + 2xany herbas for Encounter rate x3+ Shiny rate lv3 + title power lv3
Dragon: Avocado
Dark: Smoked Fillet
Ice: Klawf Stick
Bug: Cherry Tomato
Water: Cucumber
Rock: Bacon
Normal: Tofu
Flying: Prosciutto
Ground: Ham
Grass: Lettuce
Poison: Green bell pepper
Ghost: Red onion
Fire: red bell pepper
Psychic: onion
Fighting: pickle
steel: hamburger
Fairy: Tomato
Electric: yellow bell pepper
If you only want shiny rate up lv3 for outbreak farm then just 1xfood for the type + any 2 herbas
Hopefully someone makes a sandwich calculator, so i can put in what buffs I want and it tells me what ingredients to use. These charts and such are just too much of a headache

Just wanted to say I successfully evolved Rockruff into the Lycanroc dusk form. Found own tempo at lv25 and kept an everstone on it until in-game evening when I gave it a berry and then a rare candy to get it to lv30. Worked perfectly.

For the second (or any number of other players) you can throw away any ingredient they use, and that doesn’t affect the outcome of the sandwich. I’ve been getting scarlet (switch 2)area zero shinies with my violet game( switch 1) without wasting any ingredient
So what I found out with making the burgers and what other people probably found out is that you can’t use any type of hm. If you use sweet hm and sour hm they won’t give you encounter power. Any other combination should work tho

If you have scarlet, the misdrevious paradox pokemon only spawns at night, so if you use a shiny sandwhich with ghost encounter then enter at day, it will force spawn only shinys of them.
