2 Dudes 1 Wrench Podcast - S01E01 - Jeep Gladiator Mojave Discussion & Adventure

- Welcome to the EPIC Adventure Outfitters Podcast, lovingly called "2 Dudes 1 Wrench". We've titled this episode "Tales of Romance and Seduction in the Mojave".
In our very first episode ever, we have a spirited discussion on Jeep's most misunderstood Gladiator model, the Mojave. Paul and Christian go through what exactly a Mojave Model entails and then we tell the story of our own Mojave build adventure. Having owned one, wheeled it, broke it, supercharged it, engine swapped it - we've done all the things and have much to say on this unique Jeep model.
We're new at this Podcast thing - so hopefully this starship doesn't crash and burn.
What should we talk about next? Let us know in the comments below.

I knew it was you guys telling people where my mom lives!! 🤬
Your mom is so crafty.
I hope this is better then the podcast "2 Wrenches, 1 Dude"
That 1 dude is our competition... so hopefully we pull ahead lol!
You dont want to see what's on each end of the one wrench..
it's twice as good!
I'm glad to come across this. I sold my '78 and '83 J10 when we were expecting our first kid. Now they are 4 and 2 years old. I have a newer Ram but wanted something additional for wheeling and camping. I recently bought a new 2023 Mojave for over 25% off MSRP, $42K. Much different animal than my J10s and other AMC/Chrysler oriented jeeps. But the family love it. I'm in coastal Texas, and we can't stop visiting the local islands/beaches. It's phenomenal on washboard ranch roads. I'll upgrade the suspension when the oem parts wear, as I do with all trucks. It's nice to have something competent factory, though. I really think the Gladiator would be excellent with a 5.7L Hemi. I'm familiar and comfortable wrenching on those. Keeping it cool would be a task. Please keep up with theae podcasts, I subscribed.
TFL really needs to watch this so they understand the Mojave vs Rubicon
I have a mojave with a smartcap and rooftop tent and it's great. The bed is loaded with gear to. Have a steel front bumper with a winch and I have had no problem. Keep in mind I only overland with light off roading but yeah,I love it🤙
Well done guys!! Awesome seeing Fluffy around still.
Thanks Teddy! Fluffy has been through an adventure for sure!
AWESOME PODCAST!!!!! Can't wait for the next one.
You bet! We'll try to bang a few more podcasts out shortly! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I think the frame stiffening is arguably the best thing about the Mojave. Also, I did the numbers. It’s actually cheaper to buy a Mojave & add the Rubicon stuff that Mojave doesn’t have than it is to buy a Rubicon & add the Mojave stuff that Rubicon doesn’t have.
Thanks for crunching the numbers! We appreciate you. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Love it. Keep them coming!
Well done guys!
Loads of awesome information!
That @leitnerdesigns Rack tho 😍
Thanks Ryan! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Two dudes talking about dump sounds and servicing in a parking lot. I'm in.
Ha Ha thanks Jon! We appreciate your executive summary of this podcast.
Diggin this idea. Cheers from Quesnel BC 🤘
Thanks for checking it out. We appreciate you. We believe the world could use more rambling podcasts from Canada. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Best video ibhave seen in awhile, very informative and entertaining...
Good day Mr Howell. A huge thanks from the team at EPIC for watching and following along!
Ending was “epic” I love it !! Can’t wait to listen to the next one.
Good day King Robert! Huge thanks from the EPIC team for watching. We appreciate you. Cheers!
I forgot to mention that Teraflex was showcasing their new Mojave specific lift at EJS. It is so new that Dennis didn't know the price 😂
We got a set coming our way! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I even came up all the way from Ohio and visited (well I was staying with a friend in Blaine). I love the podcast idea guys! Keep it up.
Thanks for watching and commenting. And yeah, Ohio isn't that far away from us ;-) Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Congrats on the pod guys. 😎
Thanks! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
2:51 the hood scoop can be made functional
6:13 the mojave front sway bar is hollow for high speed.
Well done gents! 😂🎉
Thanks Milad! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I will say, a rebuild of the factory Mojave Fox shocks does wonders for them! Night and day difference especially if you have a lot of miles on them. If interested, I know a guy who does those rebuilds and has sets on the shelf rebuilt and ready to go ;) If you guys have pull off Mojave shocks sitting around, I'll gladly take them off your hands to add to my rebuild shock exchange program!
Great!! Mind blown. Been trying to find the best suspension for the Mojave and all the Overlanding gear, AND still keep the ride quality of the Mojave. I think you spelled out the exact component from Teraflex ($1821) and Falcon($2022). So the Mojave sits higher than the Rubicon, with the 3.5" lift what is the net gain in height (with factory tires)?
Looking forward to the next several episodes!
Ha e you identified how the frame is strengthened and can that be added to other frames?
I saw some videos of people tightening up the set screw on the steering box to take out the slop in the steering wheel that the Jeep seem to have. I have a 22 Rubicon with the steel steering box and it doesn’t seem to be really bad or problematic, but there is a slight slack when steering do you guys have any solutions to those issue or upgrade options to make it solid
Thanks, Chris
Great video, very informative and entertaining, Ginger always is. Thanks
Thank you Mr Jeffrey. We appreciate you tuning in. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Keep this up it is nice to get the perspective of mods with people who do them. The supercharger part actually was good to hear about cause I wanted to but now I am rethinking it
Yes, you should certainly re-think a supercharger. If you like having a working, reliable engine, maybe stay away from that mod ;-) Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Fantastic pod cast guys! Can't wait for the next one!
Awesome! Thanks for the support. We appreciate you. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Well done. Happy to see more Ginger, more Ginger, more Ginger. I have a Gladiator with a canopy camper and my Jeep has a squat. Thoughts? So happy to see what goes on at Epic BTS.
Well then... we will simply add more "ginger" (if you know what we mean?). If your Gladiator is squatting, then you have the wrong rear spring setup. Maybe as simple as a coil spacer or maybe an upgrade to some HD coils will be in your future. I don't know, I'm not your dad. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I took delivery of my 2023 Mojave yesterday and you have now broken my heart. I had my heart set on the Rubicon but when I test drove them back to back the ride was night and day and since I'm not going to be rock crawling I went with the Mojave. I had previously seen your 2 videos on the Mojave lifts and didn't think twice. Now you've just done a 180 on me and I'm questioning life lol. Is it that shit with the performance spacer lift from Teraflex? I only want to put 35's on it.
You can fit 35s on the Mojave stock good sir!
Hey hey hey! Your Mojave is an awesome Jeep and you should feel confident in your decision. If you're only going to put 35" tires on it, you can just do that now without a lift and go have fun. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I'm in the exact same boat with a 2023 Mojave.
Enjoy your mojave. I wish I could have one. They're badass. Dont put spacers. Leave it as is and run bigger tires.
Want to make it ride significantly worse? Get a spacer lift
this was a really great vid fellas. it’s great to hear some back story.
Thanks for watching! We appreciate the support and feedback. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Great podcast but really love the HellDivers 2 references. “ For Democracy “ . Can’t wait for the next one.
Yeah, we've been fighting for democracy against the bugs almost every night the past few weeks lol. Thanks for watching! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I am running the AEV spacer lift and Rockhard aluminum bumpers front and rear, a Warn Zeon10 winch and now 35" Falkens and I don't have any issues with handling or hitting the bump stops...but I bought to be my daily driver and have a TJ on 40's for my hard core wheeling...like the info on the updates on the 3.6l however
Outstanding job guys!
Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Great to see this!! Looking forward to more.
I would suggest breaking down suspension in more detail. Spring rates, types of coils, falcon shocks etc etc
Yes! Great idea! We have definitely planned to dive deeper into suspensions in upcoming episodes. Thanks for the feedback and cheers from the team at EPIC!
Love the new podcast. I hope to head out your way this year from Ontario. Making a list of things I need from you guys while I’m there. Cheers 🍻
We will be here waiting for you!
We hope to see you out here. We've had clients drive from Toronto, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba etc... it's just a short drive across the country lol ;-) Cheers from the Ginger and the team at EPIC!
That was actually a good topic thanks guys.
Hey! Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I thought this was great - you explain a bunch of information that people want to better understand. Thank you, Thank you!
You are welcome! Huge thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers from the Ginger and the team at EPIC!
Great job guys, as I watch from South Georgia, USA.
Hello friendly American! Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Awesome information please keep doing these posts
We have just shot another 2 episodes... went late into the night and we may have been drinking. Stay tuned!
Loved the podcast guys.. My mom said you owe her some money...🤣🤣🤣
Ha Ha... your mom.... is such a nice lady. Tell her to chill out and send us some uber eats.. We're hungry over here. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Great show
Thanks Robert! We'll get down to DV later this year and see ya. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I love my Mojave!
Agreed! We love Mojaves too! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
great info 🤟🤟🤟
Thanks for your support. We appreciate you. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Great podcast🎉
Sally and Bruce! You crazy kids! Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate you. Cheers from the Ginger and the team at EPIC!
Awesome podcast guys!! Looking forward to more.
Huge Thanks! Whooooohooooo! We still can't believe we did this. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
@@EPIC-4WD haha well you’re onto something!! Definitely keep it up, love the humor too.
Can you talk about the auxiliary tanks available for extending range?
Good idea, we'll add this topic to another episode! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Dude! That was an epic podcast guys, I really enjoyed it, and thank you from Michigan. I am getting closer to paying off my 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara within twelve months or less. I have a challenging decision what is best for a simple overlanding rig is either Rubicon or Mojave. There are not many crazy obstacles in Michigan like yours but Ozark National Park is on my list to overlanding in 2026/27. Rubicon or Mojave, my gut telling me is Rubicon is the right rig for what I like to do as overlanding. Is that right move? I really like Mojave because of the style and special edition paint color yellowish.
Both will overland in style, and both would need a new lift to do the job of overlanding with to much fancy camp gear in tow.
Great job guys, cheers from PEI Mojave owner. would so love to put a Hemi in my Gladiator.
Hey there fellow Canadian! We have a client from Nova Scotia and we just had a guy drive from Toronto to BC to get his Gladiator built. Make a trip of it. BC/Alberta Rockies are awesome to see from a Jeep. Thanks for watching. We appreciate the support and would most definitely pop a 392 in your Gladiator! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
GREAT videos guys, VERY informative!! I would love to see a podcast on the Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel. I know they’re not offering that engine any more, but I think there is a lot of owners that would appreciate your experience with them. I absolutely love that engine so far, but I need to how to maintain this thing for the long haul or should I get rid of it. Love the content!
HUGE thanks from the team at EPIC for watching. Our second episode has some EcoDiesel talk. It should be out this weekend some time. Cheers!
ok, I am a Mojave guy-I don’t want a rock crawler but love to wheel offroad. Mud, sand and snow and nothing over class 4/5 for rocks. I think you have the package dialed in-392, Teraflex suspension, some protection for the oil pan would be awesome and no more that 37” tires. ( the Kracken would be a must have). How much of a mortgage does that come to? Keep up the great work!💪
Loving the content. And adding the pod cast to channel was great idea. I have a 2020 Mojave completely stock. Was thinking just putting 35x11.50 on stock wheels. Will they play a factor on wear and tear on componets and longevity. I plan on having jeep of a long time last one u had was 16 years. Thanks in advance keep up great work.
You can do the 35x11.50R17 no problem. I wouldn't worry about any additional issues or wear. You're good. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I actually called Teraflex today to price the 4.5 extended travel kit. I sure wish the shocks were a little cheaper. I'm pretty sure that's the route I'm going to go.
Falcon shocks, especially the 3.3s are pricey yes... however we believe they are still the best bang for the buck vs features & quality. You won't be disappointed. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
With the tear flex 3 1/2 inch lift, do I need to lower the carrier bearing??
Did you guys re-gear with the RIPP supercharger you had on it?? Im super curious because I’ve been wanting to put one on mine with the max tow package. Im down in FL so i wont have the elevation issue but still plan on towing a small travel trailer to the mountains from time to time.
What gear ratio would you suggest for a gladiator, max tow, on 35s and the RIPP supercharger?
Noob question. What’s the difference with having a 2.5” lift with drop brackets vs 3”+ lift with drop brackets? Is it that much of a difference? I’m stuck with low garage dilemma and can’t afford a new home because I own a Jeep.
We typically don't do a 2.5" lift and the front drop brackets as it adds too much caster. If we have to do a 2.5" lift, we would just do lower front adjustable Alpine IR arms instead of the drop brackets. However, it won't ride as well as a 3.5" with drop brackets.
Podcast Subject Idea: If you are planning on building out a Jeep do you buy a Rubicon or would it better to start with a Willys or Sport?
Dax... you crazy destroyer. We enjoy you sir. Thanks for the suggestion. We'll add that to the long list of topics people want to know about. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
❤❤
Haha as I watch from Texas
Ha Ha! We love Texans! We just talked to a person from Texas today about his Mojave Gladiator. We wanted to just tell him to wait until tonight, but alas we had to go through it all with him over the phone ha ha. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate the support. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Can you do a Rubicon next?
Episode 3 covers this off... coming out soon! Stay tuned!
S01E02 should help familiarize the audience with important aspects of Epic Adventure Outfitters such as (1) Is BC a continent? (2) Does Vancouver Island have Chipotle and Cinnabon to make treacherous overlanding more comfortable? (3) Is a JL on 40s more masculine than a JT on 40s? (4) was the original name of your product really Phil My Kraken?
Wow. Refreshing. It takes a real man to ask the serious questions like these. We will be sure to cover off these burning questions on the next episode fo'shizzle. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Two thumbs up much better than 1 dude 1 cup😂🤷♂️ yah i said it.l amd now i wanna sell my mojave
1 Dude 1 Cup was in the running as a working title. Don't sell your Mojave! It's a great Jeep! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
@@EPIC-4WD 🤣🤣🤣👍
@@EPIC-4WD yea I like it but i prefer the JL platform thou and im in need of aftermarket suspension at some point.
Great podcast. Too bad the Pentastar can't handle boost, it was a more "cost effective" option
Tell me about it, that was my thinking also at one point
Thanks for watching! We certainly tried with the Pentastar boost, but unfortunately you can learn from our misfortune lol! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Could you talk about the install of the engine that Shaun had done and what that entails? I would like to have a stronger engine that is reliable
We will have Shaun on the podcast and talk about his Jeep Gladiator. There's probably 3-4 hours of content there to discuss ha ha. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
I would like to know I if a 392 can be installed in a JLUR that has a 2.0L
Yes it can. We've done it a few times. Just requires a few different wiring harnesses.
What, no ice cream cone with brown goodies to slurp on? Highly disappointed. I got a little chubbed when I saw the title. But the air was let out of my balloon. Thanks guys. Thanks. :(
We're sorry to be so.... deflating. We'll work on the cold treats for next episode. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
TEXAS
TEXAS!!!!
I am building my Mojave for overlanding. Is it worth just replacing the springs? Can I keep the stock fox shocks?
The shocks are super soft as we described. You'd be best served to replace the springs and shocks together. If you need more info, feel free to give us a call. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
You could do springs and shock extensions but like he said the shocks are valved to soft with no adjustment
I'm in Alberta. Can I get the tax back if I come for install etc? 15% tax is bs
Do you guys lift JKs?
Sorry we do not work on JKs. We only work on JLs or JTs and late model RAM trucks. We only work on what we personally drive and only install what we personally have used, which makes us quite different from everyone else around us. This approach makes sure that we are 100% versed in what we're doing and advising. Thanks for commenting and we appreciate the support. Cheers from the team at EPIC!
Great 1st show! Very entertaining! I’m hoping you can do a “where to wheel in Canada” episode. I see all of these cool Canadian RUclipsrs but they never mention where exactly they’re at. I know glaciers are about as common as US Auto Zone stores here in the US, but I’d love to venture north and explore. Maybe mention some coordinates or official names of places. You could also talk about typical builds that are needed for North exploration, especially during winter.
Mastercraft is better than Snap-On 🤣🤣
Your opinion is valid ;-) Thanks for watching! Cheers from the team at EPIC!
@@EPIC-4WD I love your videos, and the podcast is awesome.. "email sent for a chuckle"
Love the technical discussion in such an entertaining way! Great job!
Thanks for watching! Glad you found it entertaining and informative. Cheers from the Ginger and the team at EPIC!
