The Ghorman Massacre was referenced all the way back in the mid/late 80s, in West End Game's Imperial Sourcebook, in the description capsule for Grand Moff Tarkin (IIRC).
I totally agree that Mon Mothma is very underrated, probably because she doesn't seem like the type of character that would sell a bunch of her action figures. She's as crucial to the Empire's defeat as Luke, Leia, or Obi Wan though.
Hi Meg, awesome news update, congratulations on reaching 135 thousand members, very interesting, video Meg on both shows connections and I am mega excited about seeing the show, thank you SWM
I am dying to see a high stakes escape for Mon leaving Coruscant! There is actually video footage of her and Cassian running on set in Valencia Spain, too. I agree with Meg. We will see the Ghorman massacre, maybe a speech from the Emperor, and Mon decrying the Empire and fleeing in a tense escape piece!
Pretty sure we also got an Ezra Bridger mention in the Andor 2 trailer. During the early seasons of Mando, I thought the Arc Pulse Generator might explain why Mandalorians reverted to living in hidden Coverts, only revealing themselves one at a time... but Mando never really went anywhere with that, alas.
Retcon is the wrong word. Hera being part of the Rebellion and working with Mon Mothma isn't a retcon. Hera working with deep cover agents isn't a retcon. Hera being an Imperial Spy sabotaging the rebellion would be a retcon.
Oh Meg you deserve to have over 1mil subscribers your doing such an amazing job at providing great Star Wars news with no toxic hate and pure love for the universe
Good book, and yes I believe this makes Sabine’s confession in tge trial of the dark saber that much more distressing. To say nothing of what she going through about being the last living wren.
Ok, well I guess if they are going to link Rebels, my favorite SW show, with Andor then I guess I need to get around to watching it. As always, thanks for the update. :)
Yep, like others said, retcon is continued to be misused here and across the internet. A retcon is about literaly changing the how of something that happened (aka Kanan has a little bit of one in terms of what happens during order 66), not "adding" on to or connecting to something that happened (aka some of the stories from new Phantom Menace comic and/or additional details that are often presented in the novelization of feature films).
It would be a cool plot point if the tension between her, her husband, and her daughter is just a ploy to throw off Imperial spies and her husband and daughter secretly support her.
Thanks for explaining this connection. I did know who the people were that the sounds came from. That even makes it more horrible then it seemed in the show. Which was pretty bad.😔
If we’re connecting Andor with Hera and Sabine, then Star Wars needs to include Omega from Bad Batch. This will be needed in developing Omega’s character if she is to be captured by Thrawn, rescued by Asajj, Boba, and Fennec, realize her blood will be used for resurrecting Palpatine; learning the Force, the Jedi and Sith, the Night Sisters and Knights of Wren, and assassin martial arts; to be ready for her ultimate and strategic epic battles with Thrawn.
He might just help her escape TO the ship that leaves and isn't actually ON the ship that leaves. Or, in the show, he may use a different name and actually BE one of the rebels we DO see in the cartoon (just shaved).
I think it’s other around..I think Andor kicks off before it. In Rebels they did not really join the Rebellion until season 3? In Rebels they also said the Rebellion was bunch of fractions and became one unit as time went on. I would love for Andor and Rebels to connect !!
from what I understand season 1 of Andor and season 1 of Rebels both take place in 5 BBY. 5 years before A New Hope. I believe this season of Andor will be broken into 4 sections of 3 episodes each consisting of 1 year. Rebels I believe broke down to 1 year per season. The shows mirror each other in a way timeline wise I think.
When are we finally gonna see live-action versions of Doctor Aphra, Sana Starros & Magna Tolvan? Talk about a potentially fun group of characters to see make that leap & perhaps get a TV series.
Not sure they're retcons. Hera was on Scarif. She could as well have met and worked with Cassian. Love the Rebels connection! In season 1, Mon Mothma tried to fight for Ghorman rights.
Andor doesn't really need to be connected too much, not to the level of all the other series where connections are used as fan service, it can be in the way of good storytelling. The connection I do appreciate is Saw Geurera (Forrest Whitaker) as he's instrumental in showing the differences in morals and intent of rebellion. I'm not too sure the Rebel's characters add such meaning.
Reading the comments about how the fans hope that this and that event to be in Andor S2 is exactly how Kenobi and Boba Fett were made....not good writing, but cameos and fan services. People seem to value that more lately, hence Deadpool and Wolverine movie. 🙄 I'm just glad Gilroy is a competent writer and doesn't give a shit about what pleases the fans, rather focused on good writing.
Sooooo out of curiosity….if you saw ANH and then saw ESB. That being said, I don't think the "everything should be like Andor" argument is a bad thing on its own. After all the mediocre/bad content that the fans have had to endure over the last several years, I think it's good for fans to be able to point to a project like Andor and use it as a reminder that Star Wars CAN still be good.
