  • Hello, I hope you find this helpful.
    Note: The "merge" tool has been removed from Fusion360. I made this video to show a quick option for most files: www.loom.com/share/ef309e6709...
    Also, Fusion360 moved the location of some tools shown in the video. The easiest way to find these tools is to use the search tool shown in this video: www.loom.com/share/f8c24feb30...
    This video is in response to a video comment requesting help with this .stl edit. If you would like more videos on engineering/CAD/or electronic design, please feel free to reach out on my discord or leave a comment with a question.
    You can ask questions and make video requests in my Discord:

    You can download the Thingiverse file I use for this example to try yourself here:

    This was very helpful. I would like to see more about how curved faces can be changed from the stl version into the new model. the two videos I have watched of yours you only dealt with flat faces and only the parts of the original model that you wanted to modify. That was very helpful because I kept thinking I would need to change the entire model to be contained in the model I was working with NOT just the part I was going to change. After you demonstrated how you did this it made total sense so thank you for taking the time to share this. Also, if you do have a video on how to convert curved faces i'd be interested in watching - please share which video you recommend on this.

      Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I dont currently have a video for curved faces, but Ill add it to my list of videos to make.

    Love your videos been trying to jump from solid works to fusion but other vids just felt muddled. Would love to see how you go about with editing things like clearances and tolerance on thingiverse models

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Jonatan, I also was using solidworks prior to fusion360 and know the transition can be tough for some aspects. I don't typically use fusion 360 for extremely tight tolerances simply because those projects are usually for companies that are using solidworks, but fusion allows for offsets as well and Ill try to make a video of that in the future.

    Using personal/ hobby version of Fusion 360. In modify, the last item I have is to convert. I am not finding Mesh to BRep anywhere. Is it only available if you purchase Fusion 360? Thanks for any help you can provide!

      Hi, last year Fusion360 changed the location of a few options. I made this video to show where some of these options are now: ruclips.net/video/t9oCDXo7cYk/видео.html

    I found the video informative but very hard too follow. You went through steps so fast and just click click click do this to get this doesnt tell me what you did. Yes I am a slow learner, and I realize you were trying to do it quickly. But personally for me its not clicking. Also me having the newer version of 360 kinda hurts aswell. If you remake this senario with the newer version I would love to catch that episode.

    Would have been way faster to split the body where you wanted to extend. Move the new smaller body out and bridge the gap with the extrusion tool. Join when done.

      Hey Brad, thanks for the comment. That would work for most projects that are simple single part projects. However, I wanted to make this video with proper design techniques that can translate to more advanced assemblies and are built in a way that compliment the parametric design abilities of the software. Once you get past 50-100 parts, the chop and print methods like you mention become a pain for the designer.

    was trying to follow with you, but after doing all the previous steps till ,modify mesh, my "mesh " option under modify is not there, my last option is "convert" instead, help?

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758  Год назад

      Hi @Jim09channel, you are correct. Fusion360 changed the name of that tool to "convert mesh". I added a note about that to the video notes and will try to update the video soon. If you would like quicker help, you can reach out on Discord to get faster response. Discord link in the video discription.

    my version is different, (2.0.12392) however I did find what was needed, but it's amazing at what seems to be a simple model can be extremely complex, I just wanted to remove one of 3 slots for a remote holder and there are so many facets to the model it seems like it would be so much easier to just create a whole new design. I can't even find an updated video on how to move the model around for viewing.

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758  2 года назад +1

      Hi, to move the model around for viewing, click and drag the viewing cube. The view cube is located in the top right-hand corner of your fusion360 workspace. Feel free to also jump on my discord for one-on-one help/answers.

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758  2 месяца назад

      Make sure you are in the "mesh" workspace when looking for that. You can also use the search tool to find mesh-to-brep. To do so, click anywhere in the workspace, type "s", the search tool will open, then type "mesh". You will then see the mesh-to-brep tool in the suggested tools.

    • @jaredhanson9758
      @jaredhanson9758  Год назад

      Correct. I believe they got rid of that tool early this year. What typically works, but isnt really a "pro-move" is to select a faced and press delete. If it merges, keep doing that, if it messes up, ctrl+z. There is a new tool that is similar to merge that I will try to make a video on to update this one. Cheers
