Thanks! I just started trying to do this a couple of days ago and could not follow other videos due to the recent changes in Fusion 360. I saved an stl binary and stl ascii and the binary file is much smaller.
Thanks for the very informative video. It really helped me. Maybe a nice future video.... How should the opposite be done? Suppose you have an STL file with countersunk holes in them... How can you easily remove the holes?
Great suggestion! And Fusion is the easiest software to make that happen since you can typically just use the delete key. I show some of that in the personalized Christmas ornament video that will post tomorrow at 12:30pm CDT. Cheers,
@@jaredhanson9758 If you haven't figured out yet, here's a tip: Try checking your recording settings and make sure the MIC was configured to pick up from your earphones and not the phone itself. We can hear the clicks pretty well, but your voice is wayyyy too far away, which indicates that the mic that's capturing the audio is not the one you'd expect. Try it out and let me know how it goes. And no, I won't charge you the 3 hours of design work. Take it as free advice in exchange for you posting such good content online to help us noobies out. Cheers!
@@digaum Thank you. That makes sense and not something obvious to me. I’ll make sure to check that out next time I have the time to crate some new videos
For my 2D mouse, I use a logitech M570 since I don't have to slide it. And for my 3D design mouse I use a 3DConnexion mouse. that's how I move around the designs easier. I am too impatient to use a trackpad unfortunately lol
Hello great vid! I have a thingiverse model that is split into parts. Is there an easy way to assemble all these parts and make one solid stl? Do you do commission work? Thanks Andrew
Hi Andrew, your in luck. There is an easy way to assemble and combine them and I also do commission work. Feel free to use the discord link to reach out and I can show you how. discord.gg/9zvdcWjh
Hi. This can be done in multiple ways. You can use the "Extrude" or "Push" tools. Please message me on discord (link in the discriptions) with you file and Ill help out.
Is the 'Merge' function not available on the free version of Fusion 360? I am following along with the video and can't get the option to appear on the Surface ribbon. Thanks.
Thanks for letting me know Coyle. I found that Fusion360 appears to have removed that tool. The show you another method of achieving this, I made the video linked here: Note: The "merge" tool has been removed from Fusion360. Wow ..awesome ...using fusion360 for a while now but didnt know you could change Thingy parts . Very useful for rc applications. Thanks a lot.

Thank you. With these simple instructions, I am able to modify a car remote stl (slightly different open/close button offset).
Glad it helped Eric.

I normally save as binary too because of the smaller file size.

Ill tell you what. You tell me and Ill trade you 3-hours of free design work lol Im not a video/audio tech, so thats outside of my profession.
I weird, because it plays on my iPhone well enough.

You really have to work on your audio quality... Your volume is much too low...
