I have a 2019 Model 3 Performance and enjoyed your video. We just ordered the Long Range Model Y and it showed us all of the differences between the two cars. This is one of the most informative videos on the 2023 Model Y on RUclips. Thank you!

Thank you so much! As a Model 3 owner myself, I wanted to convey the differences that I had been wondering the whole time.
What did you think of our Model 3 Performance video with Wes?

Good review. I got mine over the many luxury brands I tested: Volvo V60 Polestar; Audi A6 Allroad, BMW i4 xDrive40; BMW X3 M40i; MB E450; AMG C43; Genesis GV70; Model 3. Value and practicality were too hard to pass up.

I agree 👍! I would buy one right now if I was in the market.

I'm not sure it's really practical, I'm trying to find a reason to buy one but my rationale just won't let me. E.g. no parking sensors, no front camera, no ambient lights in the interior, no grip bars, no blind spot monitoring, no ventilated seats, build quality is questionable, I hear there are problems with ghost braking on auto pilot , noisey cabin and Tesla lies about range. I'm just not sure...still thinking about it 🤣

@cheesun124 I try to put accurate range figures in our videos because of this. The range estimates when navigating are incredibly accurate despite their EPA estimates.
The front camera is still there, and the updates have made it more reliable. I've only seen a phantom braking event once during a 4000km road trip this summer (see our PEI trip for this), so that has improved tremendously.
I'll have to report back on models without parking sensors. Vision also acts as a blind spot monitor and sometimes provides active assist if these are turned on.
For me, it was the test drive that really sealed the deal. They drive incredibly well. I'm not looking forward to the next model when they get rid of the turn signal stalks though...

@@livewirereview thanks. By front camera, do you mean the top camera? Vision doesn’t seem to work well just yet from all of the owners feedback I’ve seen so far. I was thinking Tesla would put a camera lower on the front chassis like many other cars on the market to help with vision and the lack of parking sensors.
In terms of test driving, I’ve done so several times, but I just can’t pull the trigger though. My excitement about the car is not because of any practical reasons. Tesla needs to stop removing features and using buyers/owners as beta testers.
Also, I hear people complaining about the windshield wipers too. It automatically turns on for no reason or not working as intended…struggling to navigate to the settings while driving… or good.
It just bugs me that a tech company which such smart engineers make some dumb decisions, or worse, not even address owners feedback.

@cheesun124 you're very correct about the wipers! They were on single vision camera before, and I wanted to trade in the car. After an update last April, they have been great. Now they work with all 3 cameras and are much much better.
I'm not crazy about them removing parking sensors or signal stalks. I would recommend a slightly used 2023 mid year like the one in this video. They were perfect (imo of course). Heated windshield, seats, steering wheel. Ryzen processor and li-ion 12v. Oh and the audio is an audiophile's dream.
You may like the Hyundai/Kia EVs. They are far quieter with better build quality and great pricing. By 2025 they'll have access to the supercharger network too.

I really don’t understand what’s the big deal of driving 0-60 in 3.5secs. It’s not worth losing range. I find the long range fast enough.

We'll have to agree to disagree! Lol, I'm a gearhead and absolutely love the torque and acceleration. The irony is that I never have any issue with efficiency because I usually get back 90% of the power I use to pass someone when I slow down through regen. I consistently get 16.4kwh/100km in the 3 and 17ish in the Y even with my driving style.

Very good video. I appreciated you talking about the updated suspension in the 23 model. I have a 2022 LR Y, and the ride is Abit jittery, I have done enough homework to see that the 23 suspension is able to be ordered. I plan to pick it up as I want the 20" rims like yours.
    Thank you

Those rims weren't a bad ride after all. Still a little harsh on rough roads but very pleasant on normal roads. Thanks for your comments!

Wrong, only the front windows are dual payned

    • @livewirereview

Part way through the year, they switched to dual pane front and rear. Unless I'm mistaken. In 2022, only the front were dual pane.

Nice review. I like that you touched on things that others don’t, like the suspension, safety features, handling, etc.

You can open the frunk with your phone or key fob.

      @livewirereview  6 месяцев назад

Yes, you can buy a key fob off the Tesla website that will do this. I mentioned the phone on screen while Matt was ranting 😄.
