Top 10 Cards that Cause Infinite Combos in MtG
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 30 июн 2024
- Throughout Magic the Gathering’s history there have been countless cards that have, through one way or another, created an infinite combo. While there are plenty of cards that only have one very niche combo, there exist several cards that have proven to be the source of several different ways of going infinite. While infinite loops may not be the most common in competitive magic, there are several cards notorious for causing them that have become infamous within the community.

Old man who jumped out of magic at urzas block here. THIS, is the list I've been waiting for.
was urza's worse than mirrodin, eldraine or the modern horizons blocks?
i started playing when oko was in standard
@@God-ch8lqurzas block easily the most OP block
@@petersimonetti4875 they tryina break that lately it seems.
@@God-ch8lq MH2 changed Modern into Modern Horizons Block Constructed, in terms of broken it's pretty high.
@@malakimphoros2164 yeah, pioneer and legacy are best formats
modern is just legacy-lite nowadays
Every day I wake up and a card is prounounced wrong
I think my limit for hearing the word PalinCHron in conversation has been reached
😢
Maybe everyday you wake up and learn the correct way to pronounce a card
Pay-lin-tron
Paligod
Only because people burn removal and responses hating on everything else and pali hits and goes infinite
*Palintron hits the battlefield*
"Damn 'tron players"
You betcha!
High tide is better still
Really suprised Kiki jiki was only mentioned in passing and splinter twin was left out. Those are the two cards that immediately come to mind when I think infinite combos.
Time Vault is also another obvious inclusion.
@@barkerm9 with voltaic key right? And you basically go infinite with extra turns lol
Ikr, I have a goblin decks that mostly wins through a combo where I use one of the many tutors in the deck to grab goblin recruiters, then play him and grab conspicuous snoop, skirk prospector, torch courier, Kiki jiki, and Sling Gang Lieutenant. Play conspicuous snoop, play skirk, torch courier, sac it to give snoop haste, then with kiki on top, make infinite amounts of snoops, with skirk it gets infinite mana, play kiki, need 1 black to play the lieutenant, sac infinite snoops to win.
Hearing "Palin-chon" instead of "Palin-CHRON" is really sending me
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ghostly Flicker seems to have an extra effect of note if you take control of the opponent's permanent until end of turn. That card can is worded in a way that can make the theft permanent. The card doesn't say "Permanent that you *own* "
I never noticed that. Nice little extra utility.
How can you have an "infinite" list without mentioning Intruder Alarm? That card was practically built for infinites.
truth
Since a friend and I, who've been watching your card channels for years, started watching your MTG top 10s and I've been getting more interested in Magic, I've wondered if you'd do a list of cards that can create infinite mana combos. And eventually, other kinds of infinite loops. And, just earlier today...you finally did. I've been waiting a long time for this.
OHHHH YEAAAA????? Ya think ????
Ooze doesn't need a second card beyond Kiki; you can just make the tokens at the end of your opponent's turn and they'll untap and be ready to attack.
I love Aluren. I have it in my cube, and while I have a few ways to go infinite with it in there (e.g. Cavern Harpy) it's actually just a great value card as well, as long as you have enough cheap creatures.
Woooo the community! Bbb
This just inspired me to build a cedh deck using Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh. All you would need is an Impact Tremor's, Cloudstone Curio, and Kobolds of Kher Keep. Once you get the Curio and Tremors on the field with Kobolds in your hand, you could cast your commander, then cast Kobolds, then loop the 2 creature's until everyone is dead. Hmmm. Thanks for for the inspiration. Dockside would slot in perfectly as well 😊
1. Ashnod's Altar - 1620
2. Phyrexian Altar - 1454
3. Ghostly Flicker - 415
4. Altar of Dementia - 387
5. Krak-Clan Ironworks - 339
6. Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker - 319
7. Freed from the Real - 300
8. Pemmin's Aura - 290
9. Cloudstone Curio - 288
10. Arcaheomancer - 190
i spent about 10 minutes on this so i probably missed a couple
yeah, im surprised Ashnod's Altar isn't on the list with how many degenerate combos it enables
What do the numbers mean
@@williamdrum9899 number of different ways to create infinite combos I think
@@vosh8337 Basically if it can untap anything or cause anything to change zones it's a combo piece
Does everybody forget Exquisite Blood?
Maybe a list of the most powerful 2 card combos? There are so many ways to go infinite in MtG that I'm not surprised you missed some that are so obvious to other people. Sanctum Weaver+Freed From the Real is my personal favorite; infinite mana turn 3.
The way he pronounces “palan-Chron”
Spend so much time trying to think up potential combos with Cloudstone Curio when that came out!
I feel with the high density of combos in magic a few more top 10s of this topic would be pretty good to do.
Wait, you pronounced the ‘ch’ in Palinchron but then pronounced the hard ‘c’ sound for Isochron Scepter…?
Sounded more like he was saying PalinTRON.
Hearing it pronounced with the ch hurt me physically
I’ve got a couple infinite combos in an Aesi commander deck of mine. One is Wizard class + fathom mage. Wizard class at level 3 lets you put a +1/+1 counter on a creature whenever you draw a card, and fathom mage says whenever a +1/+1 counter is put on it, you draw a card. So you draw one card, start an infinite combo to either make fathom mage huge, or more importantly, deck yourself and play laboratory maniac to win. Another combo in that deck is Time Stretch + Eternal Witness + Thassa Deep Dwelling or Conjuror’s Closet. Play time stretch for 2 extra turns, play eternal witness to get it back from the graveyard, end of turn thassa/conjurors closet flickers eternal witness, repeat for infinite turns. And with laboratory maniac I don’t even need to swing to win, I just deck myself the old fashioned way if I really want
basalt and grim monolith both go infinite with power artifact. no creature or copy effects involved and therefore a lot harder to stop
Players can't afford the $150+ price tag of the Reserve Listed, Power Artifact. The same goes with Grim Monolith. Those other mana reducing ability cards he listed are a cheaper alternative... 💡
Maskwood Nexux or Arcane Adaptation, can go infinite with cards that trigger off one creature type to produce a token of another type. For Example, Turntimber Ranger gives you a wolf token whenever an Ally enters the field. The cards above allow the wolf token to be an ally, triggering it infinitely. Then add something that deals damage when a creature enters the battlefield, and you wipe everyone out.
Also, Food Chain is another staple in General Tazri Commander decks. Using Eternal Scourge, Misthollow Griffin, or Squee the Immortal, you have infinite creature mana to keep bringing out your Commander, allowing you to seek out another ally. Eventually you have enough ally ETB triggers to end your opponents.
Exquisite Blood will continue to grow in this regard as more cards cause detrimental effects when you gain life, like Sanguine Bond which makes your opponent lose life...
"merchant scroll" cannot be used as the spell the Isochron Scepter repeatedly casts because it is a sorcery not an Instant...but it can go find the instant you want to put under the Scepter...
aerchaeomancer!!! i really hear it mentioned and it's one of my favorite recursion spells lol
9:45 It's a bit more convoluted but Baslt Monolith + Voltaic Construct ( 2): Untap target artifact creature + March of the Machines or any other way to turn the Monolith into a creature, of which there are a handful of ways to do so.
Urza thopter sword also nets you infinte mana and lets you cast your deck with urza. Both the thopter and the sword can be tapped for one blue with urza while the ability costs 1 to activate.
"Palin-Tron" hurt my soul.
Obligatory "We did it guys. We broke Devoted Druid"
9:21 this is especially good because zirda can be a companion, so if you have 4 monoliths in your deck and draw 1. all you need is the mana to cast your companion and your good on colorless mana. combine infinite mana with walking ballista and you have game more than likely.
I was a Yu-Gi-Oh player back in the day between the start of the game with Lob and experienced the early days up to the banning of Chaos Emperor Dragon. The thing that made me make the switch to magic was that it embarrassed the overpowered and infinite combos because it cards that were commonplace and even staples in most decks that could outright stop you in your tracks and even make you lose for trying it
My favorite infinite combos only use cards that actually have use beyond being just a combo piece, a card that can do something good for me even if I can’t go infinite with it. With that being said, my favorite infinite combo wasn’t even mentioned; Temur Sabertooth + Dockside extortionist. Temur works great on its own to bounce important creatures back to my hand during a board wipe and Dockside is dockside, I really dont have to explain why that card can serve a purpose without going infinite lol. Putting those cards together usually nets infinite treasures and mana as long as dockside makes 3 treasures or more and are absolute staples in any of my decks that run red and green. Also love pairing the combo with reckless fireweaver if the deck calls for it
Felidar Guardian and Kiki-Jiki would like to have a word with you as a payoff for approximately 1 gazillion infinite combo enablers.
I do think Necrotic Ooze beats Trazyn or Kiki Jiki as the example of copy infinite just because it is the only member of that grouping to be able to "accidentally" go infinite. That is to say since it can use the opponents graveyard its possible to use their cards as the infinite trigger and I find that hilarious.
What about Curiosity? 1 Blue enchantment that has the effect, that whenever the enchanted creature deals damage to an opponent you may draw a Card.
One piece kill combo with Niv-Mizzet or Brailin the Shark Rider when triggered during your discard-step.
This card is one of the most terrifying infinite-pieces in commander, especially since you can get it out turn 2 pretty consistent with Cards like Juweled Lotus
Was really surprised Combat Celebrant wasn’t mentioned. It gets infinite combats with a Hal sandwich
Enduring Renewal better be here
kiki jiki/splinter twin n pestermite must be on the internal banlist by now huh?
Really? Intruder Alarm? Pemmin's Aura? Lethal Vapors? Staff of Domination? I've been playing MTG since I was a little kid, and I remember a lot of combos throughout the years. Wirewood Channeler/Pemmin's Aura used to be called Superman. I played it in tournaments back in the gap. Intruder Alarm is one of the most broken and disruptive cards in the games history. I remember when we found combos by stumbling upon them. That was the tits. Now, they post deck lists on social media. Handy, but much less spontaneous.
ppl still come up w/ new combos, but itd just top-level players now
recent example: venerated rotpriest storm OTK, in modern, its far more consistent than other storm varieties, as it can use summoner's pact as a free tutor and cantrip (due to high creature density), while other storm decks in modern dont have any good cantrips ana rarely run 0drops
slightly less recent example: chain of smog + witherbloom apprentice, the earliest legacy smog combo i saw was from 2021, even tho ral zarek from WAR could also be technically used to go infinite with smog
Guys, he mispronounced a card name again! Rejoice!
My opinion the best combo for basalt monolith is nyxbloom ancient with this you basalr monolith taps for 9 mana. Simpme to untap it after that.
Surprised sliver queen and ashnods or phyrexian altars weren't mentioned
Still glad you got in to MTG. Yugioh is so broken it’s not even fun anymore.
mask wood nexus has quite a few inf combos as well
Are you saying Palintron instead of Palinchron?
Basalt Monolith is so easy to fix while keeping its original design too. Just add that its untap ability can only be activated once per turn
That would fix 99% of infinites
Surprised I didn't see Ghave, guru of spores on here.
Oh man….Palintron in town
I am fairly certain you are wrong about the interaction with cloudstone curio with alela.
The stack should go like this
Memnite enters stack
Alela triggers creating faerie
This then triggers cloudstone curio
By the time the memnite hits the field, the cloudstone curio trigger resolved. It cannot be bounced via the curio, and won’t trigger the curio itself as it is an artifact.
some other cards that could have gone on the list:
Ashnod's Alter
Phyrexian Alter
Freed from the Real
Polyraptor
Food Chain
ashnod's altar isn't on this list? boo this content
@@jamesboice2763 yeah that one legit confused me. also worth pointing out that acererak could also probably go on the list on it's own, since it also combos with gwenna + cost reducer, relic of legends + 2 cost reducers, and rooftop storm.
though only legal in legacy, vintage, commander and oathbreaker, Blazing Sunsteel goes infinite with stuffy doll or brash taunter and I love it.
No Queza, Argur of Agonies and Lich's Mastery? If your playing against a single person than you can easily win the game. Throw in Wiretapping, Cut of the Profits, Consecrated Sphinx, and Rystic Study for some extra fun.
How does Alela and memnite go infinite with Curio? The trigger to make a token is a cast trigger meaning the token gets created before memnite is on the battlefield so you can't bounce it to your hand.
Alela, memnite and curio don't by themselves. it's supposed to be Alela, 2 zero cmc artifact creatures, and curio. I've seen that messed up a few times in commander.
You bounce the token that Alela creates on the cast trigger.
@@crawdaddy2004 why would you do that the token can't exist in your hand?
@@devan9197 Infinite cast triggers and/EtB triggers. I didn’t say it DID anything by going infinite by itself. 😂
@@crawdaddy2004 yeah but curio is a may ability so you never have to bounce a token
Necrotic ooze does not go infinite with kiki jiki without another source of haste. It only gets the activated abilities and haste is a static ability.
The original Ooze doesn't get haste, but Kiki-Jiki's ability gives haste to the token copies, so every Ooze token will have haste given to it by every previous Ooze token's ability
Kiki Jiki gives the token haste and it enters untapped my guy. It goes infinite, you just have to tap the token so it doesn't win the game.
@@brandonbrooks779 The two can 100% win the game by themselves. Kiki-Jiki tokens get sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step. Make your infinite tokens during your opponents end step, now you can attack with them
Top 10 pauper staples plz
i feel like number three should had been Melira, Sylvok Outcast. And number two should had been both Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar. Aluren allows "playing creature spells of CMC 3 or less at instant speed without paying their CMC" and i feel this should not be here on this list, while you do have a point. The only thing i can think of is this allows you to "combo win" on any turn you have four mana to resolve Aluren. It seems that with everything that Aluren can do this slot at number ONE should had been Food Chain as setting up to have your "combo piece" available to you is as easy as literally putting it into exile which is SUPER easy to do especially in blue.
Ghostly Flicker works best with Naru Meha as the commander. You just need a Sunscorched Desert to kill your opponents.
Mind over matter! As they say, mind over matter combo with a ham sandwich!😂
Where is the T in Palinchron?
Where's time vault? There are SO many combos with it that give you infinite turns, and it's one of the premier combos in Vintage. Did you just leave it out because of how few formats it's legal in? I'm pretty sure getting banned for being too good at comboing is generally considered proof of being MORE busted, not less.
It’s boring. It’s literally THE extra turn broken combo. The fact you and most people know about it means it probably doesn’t even need to be on the list.
I assumed Time Vault must've been put on the "retired list" for this channel, but huge miss if not. Otherwise, I was very pleased to see Aluren in first place. It's like the definitive "build your own combo" enabler.
It's also sort of a weird list where "number of different payoffs" seems to also be a factor, while Time Vault can "only" ever give you infinite turns. Adding that to the issue that combos by definition consisting of multiple pieces, and they don't want to repeat the same cards over and over again, it's hard to tell whether any given card was forgotten/undervalued or just purposely excluded from the list (see: Kiki-Jiki, Walking Ballista, which clearly belong but only showed up as mentions in other combos).
It would be better to give that card its own video.
I definitely would have mentioned exquisite blood.
It’s sorta funny that palintron could be the name of a deck that would actually go infinite. Tron assembled and Palinchron goin off😂
Aluren + future sight you can go through your entire deck with 3 or less cards
surprised not to see either Devoted Druid or Mikahius the Unhallowed on here
nvm, Druid got mentioned wtih Vizier of Remedies
How many combo Earthcraft does?
Squirrel Nest... And?
Enduring Renewal
(Also Aluren is on the RL so it can’t be reprinted even if it wasn’t busted AF)
I would've swapped asalt monolith and ghostly flicker imo
There are also a lot of ways to get infinite combat steps.
winning via combat is much easier to disrupt
there are various instant-speed sweepers (like kozilek's return or settle the wreckage) and fog effects
in general, if ur going for an OTK, win via self mill, mill or direct damage
self mill is best, as thassa's oracle is very hard to interact with (once it ETBs, tberes no way to stop the win unless you use stifle effects or endurance)
mill is also rly good, but some decks will use the graveyward as a resource, so unless u mill their whole deck in one turn, they ene up ahead on card advantage the whole time
Aggravated Assault + Savage Ventmaw
Isochron Scepter just seems like a good card in general
Extended format had like a month or two overlap where scepter and orims chant existed together
Isocron septer, final fortune, sundial of the infinite
I pissed so many people off with Ghostly Flicker + Archaeomancer.
I remember shortly after aether revolt come out, there was a douche joining our commander match going infinite thopters
Idk old gnaw bone and hellkite charger are my favorite
6:59 treasure tokens are not creature tokens by default.
WOOOO INFINATE!!??? Boiiiii
Paradox Engine, extra turn spells, panoptic mirror, umbral mantle, Solemnity, Kiki-Jiki/Splintertwin/Intruder Alarm, all come to mind.
I guess not an infinite combo, but counters infinite life. I LOVE to use Heartless Hidetsugu and then furnace of wrath. Just make sure you have odd number for life, and all your opponents are even before you cast wrath, the tap heartless, boom I win 😂
So I found this infinite combo that uses scute swarm, life and limb, and maskwood nexus
Palin TRON!
(sorry, i don't wanna be a weenie about it, but Chron is ALWAYS pronounced with the hard K sound... Like Chronological? Palin Chron. Make sense?
I love your channel by the way!
How did Solemnity not make this list?! It's Vizer of Remedies but allows for a gross number of other combos that involve other counter types. In my custom MTG card community, "goes infinity with Solemnity" is literally considered a joke, because so many real cards do, no one should care about it in a custom card.
Devoted Druid doesn't work with Solemnity though
Nine lives maybe but beyond that it's just a Planeswalker fu spell
Luminous Broodmoth, Decree of Silence, Phyrexian U life, Delaying Shield, anything with Cumulative Upkeep, Persist, or Undying. There are way more cards that just get busted with Solemnity.
Palin-chron, not Palinch-ron
Squirrel nest/earthcraft?
Any card with an ability to untap anything falls into one of two categories:
* It's a combo piece
* It's not a combo piece YET
Intruder alarm.
Are you saying Palin"tron"? …Instead of "chron"?
Dualcaster + Twinflame or Heat Shimmer
Urza belongs on the edh Banlist, you will never change my mind on this… that being said, I wouldn’t mind the removal of the banlist.
Palintron?
It hurt me a little every time he said “palintron”
my lucky combo is : Dina, Soul Steeper and Exquisite Blood
I always see people saying he mispronounces things on purpose, but did he ever actually confirm that? I don’t remember it at all. Is there a clip of it out there?
What is more likely? Him being somehow incapable of pronouncing 1/3 magic cards correctly or just doing it because it baits people into leaving comments which helps him?
Its Ockham's razor
@@katiequeen7225 maybe he has dyslexia or something and just consistently misreads card names
Mooing infinite!
you also missed grindstone, which can be infinite on its own if you go against a mono color deck
You missed Exquisite Blood + Vito.
vito and exquisite blood
5 color deck idea...
Palatron?
Wait, isn't it pronounced (Pahl-in-kron)? idk
Palintron
Vito, or any drain/gain creature along with Exquisite Blood goes infinite

heliod is far better imo
Wow, no Sangine/Exquisite???
