The Tush Push Explained with Kyle Brandt & Dr Neil DeGrasse Tyson

- The Philadelphia Eagles' Tush Push is one of the most unstoppable plays in NFL history. But what may seem like a simple play is actually deceptively complex - so Kyle Brandt sought the wisdom of one of the world’s foremost scientific minds, the famed director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City, to learn more about the forces at work.

Who’s the producer that came up with this idea lmao?
A genius.
Idk but thank you 🙏🏾!
Well i have a counter for it
Neil forgot about “significant figures” and maybe doesn’t understand “vectors”, so he said some pretty stupid stuff, and people bought it anyway
@@asanokatana
Actually, Neil says some pretty dumb stuff sometimes. I remember when he did an interview about a certain subject that can't be named, with a person who can't be named, and Neil said a lot of stupid things, like how he prefers to blindly agree with a consensus, which is not how science works. So, Neil sold out. I used to love listening to his podcast, but ever since that interview, I lost complete respect for him. He's all about the money, and I wonder how much the NFL paid him for this appearance.
We need a follow up of NGT explaining the intricacies of how the Bucs stopped it today😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Simple Vita Vea he’s a big mass of earth 🌎 haha😂
Probably the same answer lol
They grabbed the face mask. It’s pretty smart if you ask me, if you hide it well enough.
Pull Hurts by his facemask the opposite way.
I would pay very good money to have an entire series of Neil Degrasse Tyson sciences football. I love this so much
Fr
He loves football. He even explained how a football’s movement differs from that of other sports balls. That was on Eli Manning’s show.
Honestly I’m just impressed Neil could lift Brandt and hold him that’s great for his age
Physics
And muscle memory. Dr. Tyson wasn't just a wrestler, he was good at the collegiate level. That's years of training.
Neil was a wrestler back in da day he still got it lol
Technique. It's very easy when you're based how he was. He knows what he's doing. I was also very impressed and happy to see that
Now this is good content we need more unconventional content like this. Just listening to football analysts talking about teams and players gets old after awhile but stuff like this is well thought out and fresh
Kudos.
Keep it coming
yeah, tyson really "jumped off my screen." he has that "clutch" gene ya know?
@@charleshessproductionsYeah!
Yes, this makes a whole lot more sense than the nonsense coming out of the mouths of those impotent ridiculous yt talking heads. It has nothing to do with football but their own ridiculous projections. Especially those nonsense Chris Collingsworth and Joe Buck.
Oh to let y’all know about that small wrestling bit at 3:17
NDT was a state champion and college level wrestler for one of the Ivy League Schools out east, either competing in the NCAA or with wrestling clubs.
Cornell
So, pretty much you loose against the brotherly shove if:
A: You have fewer linemen digging into the earth against the Eagles
B: You are weaker than those linemen.
And the offence has the momentum advantage
*lose
C: You’re not the Bucs!
@@bukko Lol, they stopped it once. The one during WC was an obvious facemask.
*C: if you don't rip Hurts into a horizontal position by his facemask/underside of helmet @@bukko
Couple mad eagles fans here…the “face mask” had zero bearing on the play, Hurts didn’t come close regardless, go back and look.
Love seeing Dr NDT. Didn’t think Tyson breaking down football would be entertaining but all he does is teach. Thanks for breakdown! Putting Kyle on his hip was a surprise too lol
Don’t feed into it
@@PHXNKVHXLIC Why? I'd love to hear your reasoning. I already have a hunch at what it will turn in to but prove me wrong, please..
he is the worst. a true ego maniac
😂😂😂😂😂 you're not a fan at all
Neil is an absolute beast! I didn’t realize he could probably work 80% of the population out there and MAKE them see stars!
Buccaneers. “Hold my beer”
They chillin in cancun now
Hold your helmet*
We need NDT breaking down one play of the year, every year. Honestly the most I've enjoyed seeing him since cosmos
The timing of this video was golden
Absolutely, I'm from Philippines but I watch NFL...the timing is perfect, the BUCS did it hahaha
In the failed two-point play, a Tampa Bay player leaped and grabbed Jalen Hurts and pulled him off to the side. This was ingenious because it through off Hurts' projectory and length the distance he had to travel to the goal line. Ultimately, this is how the defense can stop the play.
It worked, but he also grabbed his facemask which is usually a penalty but happened to be missed in that instance
But it worked lol
@@zach258he didn’t. He grabbed the jaw area of the helmet. That’s totally legal
intentionally ignored facemask
He stopped before the jaw grab
Dr. Tyson is genuinely one of the most inspiring people of all time. Love this content please give us more.
Watching this after the Bucs stopped them
This is great!! Bringing science to the mainstream through something millions of people watch!!! LOVE IT
Kyle is so much easyer to watch when he's Not shouting 90% of the time 😅
💀
This is absolutely amazing☺️ pleaseeee do more with Dr Tyson!!!!
Fantastic video, idk tyson used to wrestle. He had kyle turnt up in the air which was crazy cool
At Harvard
Please do more of these! This is great!
the collab we didn't know we needed!!!
You're clearly not a fan of football lol
@@2bNIKEt1why?
Neil DeGrasse Tyson, "I just don't know how you could stop it!"
The Buc's Last night, "Hold my Beer"
"Hold my facemask."
The Bucs weren’t the first to stop the play.
Vita vea just stopped them, so...
Moral of the story: When NDT asks you "Can I show you something real quick?", say NO, because he's about to hip toss you.
This was fun and informative to watch 👏🏾
This aged well
Lol. The buccaneers must have watched this video in advance.
@@troy7635 its only 92% effective, but there should have been a facemask on that play.
@@JNB072392% ain’t even a real number Jalen just made it up on an interview.
Check the week 3 play. @@JNB0723
@@JNB0723facemask would've been after the play. Forward progress was already stopped
So if you're the defense, with the ball spotted on your one yard line, why not try to anticipate the snap and essentially jump offsides? If the play is blown dead, the ball is moved half the distance (half a yard), which is not that much to concede. If you are successful in stopping their progress, then you win the down. At the very least, you could make them run the play a couple times in a row, and start to chip away at their stamina.
I’ve been saying the same thing all season
Great minds think alike!@@SpenceDog-yv8kh
I can picture troy polomalu jumping over the top and stopping it.
That is good, however, that wouldn’t work in down and short plays because they would just get 5 yards and the first down
@@cameronrichards2010that man was an animal
The curse of Neil DeGrasse Tyson! The Bucs just stopped the push.
With the added bonus of getting away with a penalty in the process.
The one guy was trying to rip the helmet off of Hurts.
The key was the Bucs players did NOT leave the Earth! They stayed on the ground and challenged the Eagles at the point of contact to where they negated each other out!
You stop it with a bigger mass pushing against the ground, i.e. Vita Vea
The video I never new I needed to see and have from NDT💯😁🔥
We need an hourlong documentary on this play. I love it.
NFL, you just struck gold. This is awesome.
this is the only time I've been interested in a science lesson
Great vid thanks)
imagine getting held up like a baby by neil degrasse tyson😮
Why imagine it when I just saw it
This is flipping great
Here’s an answer for you sir: Just get lower 🤷♂️
I love all of this!
I really liked this!
Love this!
I'd like to hear if the bucs used this information to help them stop the brotherly shove tonight.
Neil loves shuttles and space.
I could see gifting a shuttle launch state a few tips from ol’ Tyson!
This was… brilliant 🔥
Kyle and Neil was an awesome idea! These guys are great together
Love seeing NDT teach his passions in full effect!
great video
The brotherly shove is as powerful as a super novae. Nice.
This is awasome 😂. I want to see more
Swear to God I had just started hating seeing NDT clips but I love him now😅😅😅
S-tier segment!
I was not prepared for NDT to put him in a wrestling move, this was informational and entertaining 😅
Me: Can you dumb it down for me?
Neil: Haha... no.
🤣🤣🤣
Hes an elitist douschebag lol so why would he dumb it down? Bill nye with a degree
Im halfway in the video and as a nerd that enjoys footballer this was a reall wholesome crossover❤
The timing of this video being released the same day it got stopped
The only defense is to not allow them to get within 2 yards in the first place.
A+++ video 😂🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you Neil ✨
Well… looks like the Bucs figured it out lol
Lmaoo seing Neil hip toss Kyle is the most shocking thing I’ve seen all 2024😂😂😂
My favorite NFL reporter and my favorite scientist!!!??
Lfg!
the Bucs most likely watched this before the game. they stopped that 2-point try.
must go under Kelce.
at 2:52 Neil explains, not being connected to the earth. Bucs dug down deep so Eagles wont be.
The BUCS just stopped it. LOL
They weren’t the first team
Dr NDT pulling out a wrestling move was not what I was expecting 😂
About time you bring in NDT 👍🏽
So early no ads
Now this is some content
Revolutionary.
DONT BAN IT
If the Defense attacks at an Angle (say 30° or a slant) to the offense they would make the distance longer to achieve a 1st down with their momentum.
Dr. Tyson can explain just about anything. Fly Eagles 🦅 Fly.
Whoever came up with this idea needs a raise. ndt describing football for a season would be epic
Who’s here after it failed for the 2 point conversion?
I Didn’t know Neil degras Tyson was that strong
They did Neil dirty with that thumbnail pic lol
I remember in high school physics they used a running back as an example to explain momentum (mass x velocity)
Awesome
This is so good.....
😂😂😂
@@2bNIKEt1you ok bro?
I like both these guys. My thought on stopping it is ingenious and rather simple……but I’m an Eagles fan, so…….
Let’s go Birds 🦅
As a wrestler, judo player, and jiu-jitsu player, i absolutely love to see Neil throwing him like that and sitting there so comfortably
I like Neil a ton. Excitement and all!
Fun stuff! Good segment Kyle. You can now say you got rag dolled by an astrophysicist lol
NFL Play describe with Law of Physics its actually mesmerizing
Lmao Neil the Push was DEFEATED!!!!!
My dad coached wrestling for many years and always made reference to a book about Broomstick Physics by Tadaaki Haata. So yes, coaches do think of physics. Wrestling is physics!
It’s similar to a shield wall, the way to beat it is to get lower then the offense essentially dividing/chop blocking at the Offensive lines feet.
That’s why it will eventually be removed because it puts both lines in bad situations
3:28 NDT is wrong here, because Hurts is generally not airbourne. He's very clearly pushing off the earth as well
Glad that Neil agrees it shouldn't be banned.
Never in my life did I ever think i’d see Neil degrasse Tyson explain a football play lol
This isn't impossible to stop (close to it) but there have been instances where it has been. I wish they would've went into discussion as to the specifics of what allowed the other team to stop them.
Its all about effort. Look at the bucs and eagles game. Eagles are known to not come back from being behind, and their fundamentals start to slack. In the bucs game, they are down, and the team as a whole collapsed before the playoffs, so they are already mentally out of it. In theory this play should work 100% of the time and be unstoppable but when they dont try as hard they dont get it
😂😂😂😂 I love how football can bring everyone from all facets of life together fr!
I am impressed Neil could pick up that dude at his age. Man, he must be built!
Yes, I've never understood the "we must ban it" concept. The other 31 teams in the league just need to practice it and add it to their playbook.
Neil can explain anything and make it sound interesting
Who's here after the Tampa game
So your saying I wasted 6:06 hoping for a way for it to be stoped 😊
This video helped the Buccaners win
Tampa stopped it... IJS What in the univers are they?
Hell yea. Moving the earth with each play. Go Birds 🦅
Haha😂
I need him to explain how Vita Vea can stop the rush push
Vita Veas mass
I love that the algorithm is *ehemm* pushing this tonight
as a nerd and football player/ watcher this is heaven
The bucs stopped them 1/15/24 lost in playoffs 😅
