I have a Voyager Megatron from the first live-action film. He's bigger than this Shockwave, which I also have. I still like this Shockwave though

sooooo. . . . mom n dad'd throw a fit if their kids got a hold of a toy gun, but a heavily armed battle cruiser (sometimes tank), which, in and of itself is a GIANT SPACE GUN, is perfectly alright? YOU'RE NOT FOOLIN' ANYONE, HASBRO
To be fair, it's less about "violence" so much as imitatable violence. Average kids don't have access to tanks or missiles, but they can get a hand on their inattentive parent's pistol to play pretend Megatron. So long as they can't substitute their toys with real weapons, it's usually fine. On the other hand, Nerf exists.
Fuck these soccer moms. Stop the schools from drugging kids up and find out about the cause of theit problems instead, if they care so much about youth gun violence. But that would actual solve anything which is why it will never happen.

I think leader is now less about how tall a figure is and more about how much stuff/mass a figure has.
Correct, HasTak bases it on parts count and plastic volume as opposed to size. It all comes down to profits in the end.

@@thetruenemesis469 Voyager ROTF Megs and Leader 07 Blackout are roughly the same height, but since Blackout weighs more and has a larger parts count, he costs more. DOTM Megs IS the same height as ROTF Megs, but since the DOTM figure has a higher part count, he costs more.
Keep in mind, Seige, just like Studio Series, is also making the figures in scale. Magnus is basically a voyager Optimus with armor, so he'll cost more than just a voyager. While unarmored Shockwave is slightly shorter than Megs, his armor puts him at roughly equal height. Shockwave and Megs are about the same height, but because Shockwave comes with extra parts, he's more expensive.
So to recap: I believe the leader size class is no longer about much taller it is than a voyager, but how much heavier it is than a voyager.

Honestly, I'm fine with his price range. Leader class is just a price point and I feel the details and playability make up for the size. Besides, this is a dang good Shockwave.

With enough effort, even Metroplex can sit on it! But only once.
I think part of the reason for the downsized leader class figures(Magnus is of similar height) is that Hasbro stated they are trying to put more focus on all the figures scaling well with each other in this line(a "traditional" sized leader class Shockwave would have towered over Megs)

I think he sold at leader class, due to the amount of plastic, that is all. He maybe voyager size, but he has more plastic than an average voyager.

There's no way they could sell all that at a Voyager price point.
in a roundabout kind of way, the Evolution Leaders from POTP was the same way. Hot Rod and Orion Pax were basically deluxe figures with add on armor, but the base figures were pure deluxe size
and this is why the Studio Series Shockwave has to be a Voyager
Studio Series Shockwave will most likely be bigger, since it'll be based on his DOTM design

i was able to snag the generations selections version of this and was happy to see light piping in it.
but watching this reveiw i learned something i didnt know about this figure,
that being the landing gear on the beam gun's top section.
and yes i love this toy alot. more then my magnus (which sadly came with a factory QC error of two left biceps out of the box)
To be honest, I actually like the accessories for Shockwave. It screams the "mad scientist" vibe like how Shockwave can be sometimes.
So this Shockwave can look like Green Goblin and Dr. Octopus? Awesome. BUT like most recent TFs he's SOOO SMALL! Nice review bud!

Im thinking they are attempting to keep this line within a universal scale, somewhat accurate to the cartoon and thats why he is a voyager being sold as a leader. Im fine with that. Id like to own a perfectly scaled transformers line where all the characters are relative in scale to each other.
Speaking of scaling, I noticed today that Siege Optimus is the same height as POTP Grimlock. Kinda throws me off a bit, you know?

Tbf, Shockwave's Gun Mode is so original that it could be classified as an Alien weapon, and if Kids want to play something like an Alien invader type of thing they could use Shockwave as his Gun mode

Would be cool to see Shockwave actually like this at some point in media. Either it can be a mode Shockwave does use the few times he does go into battle and for good reason, kinda like Frieza. Or it could be something Shockwave attains when the cool, calculating scientist goes berserk or mad.
With the armour he becomes General Grievious
i know i’m like, 2 1/2 years late to this but the way i see shockwave (and galactic man)’s leaderness is you pay an extra 20ish bucks for a kicka** character themed display stand that when disassembled adds to the fun factor of the figure in both alt mode and robot mode. when i finally get my hands on galactic man, he’ll be proudly displayed on the hover-sled-of-murder-death-display-stand.
I think you forgot the fins on the side of the alt-mode tower...they looked folded down when they should've been out.

A little tip y'all. When I was switching mine from alt mode back to robot I forgot all about the ankle tabs and recklessly pulled them apart. And now there are stress fractures on mine.😤

I really like this figure, but 50$ for a voyager with accessories is pretty steep. Although I dont own a shockwave that isnt the tfp version so I might be forced paying 50$ for this guy. Can't wait for the Magnus review, heard hes a good figure
Jacob Hunter Reed leader class figures usually go on sale. Just gotta be patient that’s what I’m going to do for shockwave.
Even the beast hunters Shockwave came with some add on parts, so really this one kind of makes sense in that he's experimenting on himself.
Maybe 3rd party will add on kit or shapeways. Like feet adaptor/gun for height and a larger cannon(or claw that turns into a handle for gun mode) for armor mode so the arm stands out from the other 2 extra arms. Other then that most likely getting this. Thanks emgo

Just a word of warning, if you’re too rough with the hose it can break. I guess some of the ports are too tight for it to fit, or the peg is too big for the ports, apparently an issue with this figure, I had to superglue mine back together the day after I got it because it broke the night I got it.
I much prefer the animated shockwaves they’re easy to see as head decepticon science officer(which would have been a better approach for bay)instead of the weird bayformer deathworm fanatic we got in DOTM so glad we got this as a g1 and not random “movie” esque design
Playing with cog with sideswipe and hound helped me understand what Hasbro is going for with the leader class toys: The toys have armor and extra weapons as kind of an outgrowth of the weaponizer play pattern. As in, they come with their own weaponizer parts. I wonder what that means for future leader toys. (Though the rumored retool of Ultra Magnus into some kind of armored Optimus Prime seems all but assured at this point.)
Actually, what would be right up my ally would be a leader class Galvatron. But the core figure is a megatron who becomes Galvatron when you add the armor. I'd love that, but after Titans Return Galvatron that's probably exactly what most fans don't want.
I would not be surprised to see Siege Ultra Magnus retooled into another version of Powermaster Optimus Prime or such.
Sooo... in the comics Transformers vs GI Joe Shock definitely turns into this ship, which is pretty accurate to this you’s alt mode.
The Price-shock wore off after I got Shockwave out of the packaging and saw the QUALITY of this figure.
But I'm calling this a "Extra Deluxe" figure.
Shockwave is shorter than Orion Pax from the POTP Optimus Prime Evolution figure.
Just a heads up. When making it back into a robot, remember to untab and pull back on the weird little head thing before splitting apart, to avoid stress fractures on the tabs. Like on mine😡
2 years down the line and I’ve just picked one up off eBay for 30GBP instead of the original 50GBP. A good deal if you ask me! Patience is a virtue…
You know, I wasn't planning on getting this figure, but I think I may just pick him up now (mostly because his alt mode was not a gun while his robot mode was insanely accurate, but now that I see the gun, I am convinced to pick him up). I happen to have found a coupon for Target that, if my dad doesn't use it, I'll use it to go pick up a Shockwave. Thanks for this review.

I absolutely love the light pipping in his eye. Best light pipping I've ever seen on a Shockwave figure yet.
This figure is G1 toy accurate with the darker purple paint. I personally would have preferred the lighter sort of Skywarp lavender colour he was in the cartoon...
I just got this Shockwave from Walmart on clearance. He was only $25. Took about a year, but now he's worth the price.

His 'super mode' just screams mad scientist to me, getting this one for sure
I actually like how the supermode backpack gives him coattails like a proper sir. Also there are fins that pop out along side the bridge in alt-mode. I missed them for a few days after I got mine. lol

I gotta admit the siege class shockwave looks so cool. Not gonna lie the transformation from ship to robot mode looks solid. For a collector, he does look impressive and I will give credit to emgo316 for his video and his love for transformers. And loriplan as well. You guys rock!!!

I'm really into this one. This is probably the biggest must-grab figure of the line so far for me.
Shockwave is my all time favorite decepticon. Only ones I've ever owned are the animated and DOTM, though I've always wanted a G1 styled one. Finally picked this one up and I'm so fucking excited to play with him!!!!

😅I have this figure, too. I sold the excess parts and purchased a few custom parts to turn Shockwave into a laser gun. Plus, a couple of custom stickers and paint the back piece gray to look like the front part of the laser gun.

Well i own the vintage one and the Masterpiece Version. But still i had to get this Shockwave from the Siege line because it is an awesome Toy .Plus it fits much better in Scale to the Rest of my Collection than the MP ...

The symbols on all Autobot packages is Iacon the one on Megatron and certain other Decepticons is Koan and one behind Shockwave is Chaar
Upside-down gun is spaceship is a very sci-fi thing to do. Lots of space-ships are shaped like guns.

In my opinion, this is the best Shockwave toy in existence along with the Studio Series and Dark of the Moon original versions.
His ship mode reminds me of the ship unicron gave to galvatron in the 1980's movie.
Having an effect for Shockwaves eye would blow my mind.

At 6:34 I passed on him at the store before of the price, but damn, that looks so good. You know, I think I can justify it this way, $30.00 for the Voyager Shockwave, and $20.00 for a Deluxe-Sized "Sentinel Robot Drone" to seek out Female Autobots, Spike, Carly, and other miserable glitches for a total of $50.00. *blinks* Crap, now I gotta buy him, because Soundwave is getting a Voyager-sized figure as well! Hasbro, you've struck gold, with us in this line! Haha!
Here's the thing about size classes. They were never about the size of the figure, it just happened to be the case most of the time. But officialy those size classes are defined by the amount of plastic in the box.
My guess is that there is some hidden lore in the Siege toyline that involves the death of Megatron and so Shockwave has to step up as Leader of the Decepticons. In order to fit the role better he modified himself into the “super mode” shown here.

Finally a very proper G1 looking Shockwave at an appropriate size, and none of the badly played 'battle damage'. And a giant flying cannon-spaceship that looks really good... and they snuck in a gun mode besides. So he's literally a GUNSHIP *booed for pun*. Definately a get.
Plus the drone/hover platform/super mode is a neat touch for playability. Shockwave was a scientist after all, it's only logical he'd find a way to apply the new gimmick to himself.
