    • @Allride_

There's no guarantee the cables are long enough everywhere for backing in, also you will basically be stuck outside the car or at least won't have easy access to the driver side (Front and back)
I'd engineer the charge door to go up so that it would be like a little roof in case of rain. Not that the port needs it but maybe there's less risk of it freezing to the car and definitely less risk of breaking off that door

We know the GPS is poor and the over-the-road charging for ANYTHING other than a Tesla is going to be a hassle. I own a Ford C-Max Energi w/65500mi on it and love it. Overall mpg is 88.7 mpg. Just got a 2021 MY and like it VERY much too. Give the charging company a little break, they have to try to make everyone happy but just missed this one a little. Other than Tesla, ALL other brands are going to be challenged in order to travel beyond their battery limitations. Even with a Tesla you may be traveling and need to charge and fingers the charging station is 10-15 miles out of your way. Trip planning is crucial in order to avoid this problem.

When the weather is bad and the rain is coming in sideways sheets, you will understand how perfect the placement is. No door to walk around. No corner of the car to walk around. Just get out, grab that cord, slam it into the port with the nice rounded edges, and jump back into the shelter of the driver's seat.

Hi Sandy, yes it is a great car, I almost took delivery (test drove AWD Extended range over 2 days for a couple of hours per drive and tested out DC fast charging), but I heard and have seen the AWD Extended range has insufficient battery cooling for sustained high rate charging is my surmise as Kyle over at Out of Spec Motoring Your Tube Channel, commented that at driving fast and heavy through Colorado highlands on their twisty windies (lots of elevation changes) the car had battery cooling issues and throttled back the battery output. So my solution as Ford will not likely fix this soon enough is to hold out for the GT as it's high-output would require a more substantial battery cooling system which should benefit. As I do lots of long distance road trips, I do not want to hold out at the Fast DC charger station just because it cannot cool the batteries quick enough at 150KW rate.
