    I think Visery's decision to marry Alicent actually tells us a lot about his character. He's not kingly, he never wanted to be king and was never fit for it, he's just a sweet guy (and kinda stupid sometimes), he didn't raise a finger when Daemon disobeyed him and took Dragonstone, plus the fact that he was manipulated by Otto multiple times, when he made Alicent reach out to him in his grief, and how he said that he didn't envy the king after the Velaryon proposal

      If Rhaenys was crowned Queen, Viserys could’ve lived his life playing miniatures in the countryside with his wife & daughter.

      Nope his decision proves he’s not a good person. He’s told by Corlys that people in his kingdom are being murdered by traitors with outside help he does nothing. Corlys is trying to wed his daughter to Viserys for advantage with both houses together it would force Viserys to do something if his future wife’s house is being threatened. Cuz before this proposal Viserys has been doing absolutely nothing. What good person sits back and does nothing.

      Yeah, he married Aemma for duty, he married Alicent for love, almost 1:1 copying Aegon the Conqueror.

      @@johnwalkeristhatdude3018 The free cities is a very dangerous entity. The Triachy is only 3 of 9 free cities. Viserys never underestimated his foes/competitors, he just had weak solutions.

      Sweet guy is pushing it lol. Especially given we see how he treats Alicent.

    Daemon was right in the first episode, Viserys has a council around him that preys on him because he's weak. He's peaceful, but very weak in making decisions.

    Viserys did not follow his heart, he followed what was comfortable and Alicent became a comfortable stable presence

    I LOVE that they actually gave everyone saddles for their dragons. Idk why they never explained why Dany didn't use one in the main show when it could've been done with a passing line or two.

      Because d&d were lazy it was a established fact Targaryens had Saddles for there dragons and they had the perfect set up when thyrion had a saddle made for bran in season 1 .

      In Daenerys' world, the dragon wranglers were long dead and it was a lost art. Still, that is something that can be written around.

    Marrying the Hightowers is also a great marriage. So it was smart for Viserys to wed Alicent because the Hightower control the city of Oldtown (where we see Sam go to visit the maesters) and are one of the wealthiest families, and the second most powerful after the Tyrels in the Reach. Of course, Otto manipulated her daughter and the King to get the marriage done, but even for the rest of Houses it would make sense. Also his name is Daemon not Damon.

      Actually it wasn't because Otto isn't the ruling lord his brother is so house Targaryen doesn't get a share of any of that wealth and prestige and it also creates a wedge between the king and his hier on top of his relationship with his brother this marriage only benefits Otto .

    Targaryens have always been emotional and been ruled with emotions. Look at Dany and even Jon in the battle of the bastards. They have the blood of the dragon

    • @MFBloosh
      @MFBloosh 2 месяца назад +2

      That's where the "flip of the coin" phrase comes into play. All Targaryen's have the ability to be cruel, violent, and lose their temper, but some learned to control those feelings, and use them for good instead of being tyrannical or using them for their own selfish wants. And if you read of on what George has wrote about every Targaryen ruler, it really is a 50-50 flip of the coin in terms of how many were good and how many were bad.

    • @Flexorcist3030
      @Flexorcist3030 2 месяца назад +3

      @@MFBloosh absolutely! One of the best contrast is Rhaegar and Aerys. Different temperament but ruled by them feelings. Even the great Aemon followed his heart in voting for Jon.

      @@MFBlooshthat's nonsense everyone has the compacity for violence that isn't a Targaryen exclusive trait and many times people from other houses have been more violent and tyrannical then any Targaryen king also you could literally count on 1 hand how many Targaryen kings or Targaryens in general were bad most Targaryen kings were mid at worst and had only a handful of bad kings so no it's not a 50/50 chance , and that's not even what that fraze means .

    • @thatoneblackdude3333
      @thatoneblackdude3333 2 месяца назад +1

      Everyone is ruled by emotions that's what makes them humans and not robots , and ots funny you mention Dany when the show removed much of her emotional side and made her a stoic robot 95 % of the time and Jon a plank of wood most of the time .

      @@Flexorcist3030rhagar made one decision based on feelings and that's it hardly someone ruled by there feelings and they are not the only people to do this the entire stark family made almost all there decisions based on their feelings.
