There are people in the comments recommending you start the game on the easiest difficulty instead of veteran. I don't agree with this stance. I believe veteran is the optimal difficulty for a new player especially if they have any experience at all with Souls games.

Remember the introduction in Dark Souls 1? Solaire with the whitestone, then at the end of the Undead Church we find the Gargoyles that were overwelming, but you could summon Solaire, you also find Oswald and Lautrec in the Church aswell.
I believe that Fromsoftware should focus more in these focused and connected interactions (also rewards), and maybe make bosses and areas where you can and/or cannot summon help, they could even implement that for the story and those classic "gimmick moments" or just for spectacle.

Small note on ambushes\hordes. They don't spawn randomly or at certain points. They spawn durning combat. So if you are trying to "clear the area" by shooting enemies ahead, there is a big chance that horde will spawn. And when horde spawn, there is also a chance there will be a special enemy, which has different sound cue.
I think it's a system designed to prevent people from just sniping everything from great distance, to bring combat to the player.
Also Story of Remnant is pretty much just to justify your character to explore worlds. It's "journey, not destination" story. Overarching plot of remnant is more of a lore, rather than a tale. They will try and make it something more substantial, but in the end, the game will always be about just going into a different worlds and seeing cool stuff. Protagonist's official name\titles are "Wanderer" in a first game and "Traveler" in second one, which supports this idea.

yeah i wasn't sure what he was trying to say with ambushes. if you start fighting regular enemies, an elite has a chance to spawn and makes the sound que. Enemies don't just randomly spawn in areas you've cleared, the elites just spawn somewhere near you. Also when you rest enemies respawn like any souls game.

Elden Ring coop mod is S-Tier.
I had so many friends just nope out of the game since they didnt want to play solo but didnt want to keep fighting twinked out invaders.
You can also create HUGE groups but gets pretty wonky outside a few people.

  • @toe3267
    @toe3267 10 месяцев назад +2

I don't even need to watch the videos just the critic of elden ring to see that this video is biased, boss are not made for group in remnant, and the only thing they do to counter group is projectile with broken speed or tracking with almost no sound help, ads with ton of hp as a group, or that the network is literaly dogshit and if you're not the host prepare to get bullshit on every pattern.
Played this game in apocalypse with 2 friends, me and the other friends who didn't hosted the game have a number of bullshit clip it's frightening (we all have very good internet).
Boss design is still as dogshit as the first game, the boss have a very limited number of pattern and their animation is just bad, and the excuse that it's not a AAA is useless since lies of p as a AA is much better than remnant 2 it's not even close.

This and the last game are my favorite games thank you for the review. And also I’m pretty sure veteran is hard and the first difficulty is normal. I don’t think that there is a easy mode. Final boss is hard either way but it’s even more difficult for newer players on veteran.

  • @Zectifin

the best thing about this game is that its not a looter shooter, your loot doesn't become useless and you toss it. you keep it forever and its always useful and you want to collect everything to make broken builds.
Like he was saying about his bleed build, I have a build right now where i have a dagger that makes the enemies bleed on heavy attack. got a ring that makes them bleed on a heavy attack. amulet that increases status duration and effect. gun with the bleed mutator on it. got a ring that makes me regen health when an enemy near me is bleeding.
you can make some broken fun builds with the right equipment and classes.

People who didn't like Harsgaard and the Iskal Queen surely malded to hell and back at the final boss in the second game. I wonder if they can outdo it in the DLC. I feel like the edge in the final boss is kinda too strong to be trumped. But I'd gladly take the surprise.
Somewhat disappointed Rata didn't elaborate on the story a bit more btw. This game basically explored a similar idea to intelligent design, which is a pretty weird/outdated trope in modern sci-fi. I was pretty surprised it was being entertained in such a skeptic fashion, as opposed to belief-based. Characters being naturally inclined to deduce a supreme/unknowable creator in a non-cringe way is some kind of achievement in my book. The story beats, pacing and overall delivery are still basic though.

The weakest part is low enemy variety, with some enemies being boring to fight, like rolling balls or drones, paired with long levels. Especially when you start replaying the game multiple times., gets stale fast. Many of them a difficult to run through ignoring the enemies as well, so you can't skip the annoying parts. Like last level has effectively one constant enemy type which is non-threat to boot. Was surprised there are no humanoid Root from 1st game, they were iconic and satisfying to fight.
Hopefully DLCs will address that and add at least 2 enemy type per world to mix in. Also they made many encounters a slog for melee focused builds since the enemies just never near you or too dangerous to get close. Not the worst thing, since it is a shooter first. Yet I had a feeling they wanted it to be more prominent playstyle, especially since challenger is a poster boy in promo material.
The support for the game by devs is great too. They've addressed many issues in time and not afraid to remake systems drastically, like changing how armors and defense works.
And the final boss, while hard, is quite fair when you get over the visuals and intensity, everything is telegraphed well.
    Phenomenal game overall.

Oh, first few seconds of the actual content about Remnant reminded me of something you said in the Ruri podcast; so, no spoilers, you _can_ absolutely beat the entire game using nothing but melee weapons. However, _most_ melee weapons, will not be sufficient, or rather capable of, doing that. There are some enemies, that most melee weapons simply won't be able to damage, but there are _some_ melee weapons that are capable of damaging even those enemies, and I'm not talking about hucking spears at things. I won't go into detail about what those weapons are, I'll let you find that out for yourself, but I have seen melee builds that are _very_ strong, absurdly so, melee builds that are capable of easily crunching through the highest difficulty. Again, I won't tell you what those are, just know that whatever you're doing with melee, odds are, you aren't pushing the playstyle nearly to its limit. So, don't give up on the melee build, unless you find yourself really hating it.

I think EVERYONE wanted or at least imagined how it would be to have a Summoner Build (maybe just a starting class that focuses on npc sprit companions). Interesting and customizable companion mechanics in a souls game?! I was up for it! I'd love to have a player companion like a "dog spirit ashes" or something, y'know. Could be a giant hawk or a tortoise if the game and it's lore is above regular dogs. Just something more reliable than a phantom who I need to re-summon every fricking 10 min when I go for a walk because something killed or disconnected my dog, sending it home. It's a host's life this Elden Ring... also I realised - hey, ER's no damn Co-Op game! 🤔 Here, even the Archetypes work so fine with the dog mechanic, I actually like Remnant 2!! Archetypes which are mostly chosen by Hosts is to be the forever underdog... or a dog on a leash of their phantom. Ngl, that makes the invader just a rabid dog that needs putting down and completely kills the dog in me...

The best thing in this game has to be the puzzles and secrets. It's Zelda level quality. They are sooo freaking satisfying to figure out and not "I need the wiki to even fathom" BS. You can figure out most of them by looking at the environment, reading descriptions, testing that "would this work?" intrusive thought, and some previous game knowledge. That one in the sewer that needs 90min to solve is bad but nothing else is like that.

I agree that the final boss is bonkers, I was doing co-op with my brothers and the health-pool that gave it along with the sensory overload issue you mentioned had us trying for hours. I instead opted to try and beat it on my own so I could focus, limit distractions and variables. I managed it, and now I feel I could take it on with others who have beat it before but for any co-op party facing it for the first time it is a doozy. It was pretty dang cool and reminded me of the DLC Final Boss they made for the first game. A true spectacle.
N'Erud was my favorite world in the game by far. I felt it was so...complete and alien. Every piece of it fitting together seamlessly to tell a doubly tragic tale. I don't despise the main story, but it certainly is carried by the individual world stories.
I adore their attitude toward puzzles and secrets.

This is probably my favorite game.
It’s not perfect. For sure the main story could be better fleshed out. Or replaced all together.
But nearly everything else has soooo much love and creativity put into it.
The puzzles and the lore found throughout. Your note about getting lost for a few in one of the books. I mean so many of those are very well written.
They obviously have a really good pool of talent at gunfire and I can only hope we see more from them in the coming years.
I think my favorite part about this game is how well everything works together. From coop with your friends to how to create builds and how varied they can be. How symbiotic all the gear can become.
It’s really really well thought through.
They did a fantastic job with the Halloween event and in a few the first DLC!
    Great game and great coverage!

My biggest critiques were story and some of the secrets.
Story comments are 100% true, I listed to a deer man tell me about their people's history for the better part of 30 minutes, but then skipped past most of the main story cause I stopped caring.
Mostly I like the absurdly obscure secrets, it felt incredible when I tested some crackpot theory that no other game would implement and it worked, and that more than made up for every item I missed. But some major things like the archetypes, the engineer and alchemist archetypes specifically. (Archon gets a pass because its clearly meant to be a community datamining easter egg thing.) Alchemist is fine in theory, but I spent hours walking into spoiler free things once I knew what to do before they thing I needed to happened just up the odds of the encounter a little, engineer seems completely designed around forums with no in game hints as far as I can tell, and that kinda sucks to me; its fine to miss a puzzle cause you can't figure something out, its lame to miss a puzzle because there is no communication it exists. (Unless I missed some in game hint for Engineer, but I can't find anything other than using explorer's trait in NG+) These are massive parts of the game, and largely locked behind an expectation for the player to be googling, as compared to some other archetypes like summoner which are very obvious, gunslinger which is easy but a little silly, or invader which is very hidden but has in game threads leading the way to it. (Invader is sort of the perfect balance spot for me as it is super hidden, but there are a lot of little hints to find it. Only critique is being locked behind a specific item many players won't get by pure world RNG)

Massive misconception that people believe veteran is the normal difficulty, and survivor is easy, but thst is completely off, there is no easy mode in remnant, survivor is the normal difficulty, veteran is the hard mode, nightmare is very hard, and apocalypse is impossible, survivor is just a difficulty for people who literally dont have any items yet, veteran is people with semi playable builds already, or someome with a good amount of experience in soulsborn games, nightmare is for players for players with well thought out builds and mostly maxxed out characters, apocalypse is designed around the thought process that you will be playing the game with perfectly tuned builds and are using concoctions throughout the playthrough. Dont feel discouraged from picking survivor because its the easiest available difficulty, because its still a challenge.
