@@aetvrna Honestly from an outsider perspective when it comes to Koreans and Japanese y'all look very similar bro. Now as far as Chinese I can tell them apart from the other 2. South Asians also obv
East Asians are genetically and racially similar - facts and science
The most obvious difference between the three countries is in their gestures and behavior. From a Japanese point of view, it looks like this. (I am half Japanese and half Chinese living in Japan and I have 100% Japanese face lol)
Japanese people have a shyness that comes out in the way they walk. They don't want to show off in public. At best, they are polite.
I think Koreans are somewhere between Japanese and Chinese. I have an image of them wearing round glasses. From a Japanese point of view, I feel a sense of familiarity. They are polite.
Chinese people can be recognized by their hair and clothes. Many of them are polite and kind, but they often get into trouble.
Taiwanese speak Chinese, but I feel a sense of familiarity with them, just like Koreans.
Also, Japanese do not call themselves Asians. (Of course, I know that geographically they belong to Asia, but when I say "Asia" in Japan, many people think of ethnic Southeast Asia.)
Korean, Chinese Japanese look the same. Malaysian, Indonesian, Thai, look the same.
Srilanka, Indian, and Bangladesh look the same.

I mean, the fact that she even got some wrong proves that Chinese, Japanese, and Korean look similar to each other; the golden trio.
There are asian people with such strong phenotype features that you can tell from a first glance, what ethnicity they are, but some are just really... general 😅 you can try to tell based on clothes and styling, but you'll never know for sure
Same with any ethnicity really, some Senegalese look exactly Senegalese some look a bit more random. Some Swedes are obvious Nordics, some are more ambiguous. Some Spaniards are classic Mediterranean, some look like Irish😂
I guessed everyone 😅
I'm Chinese and i can't tell Chinese and Koreans apart lol, Japanese men in general tend to have more 80s hairstyles in comparison and they look a bit more mixed with a stronger defining feature (ears, nose, moles) - Koreans are more monolidded than other Asians but northern Chinese people literally have the same blood so who knows lol
Asia is not only Japan, China, Korea.. 😢
You just found out?
"Asian" phenotypical usage(EA/SEA) makes much more sense than the geographical usage. Here's why:
The term "asian" geographically is absurdly incoherent and eurocentric as there's nothing that Middle East, South Asia, Central Asia, East Asia and South East Asia all have significantly in common that distinguishes them as a group.
Europe is objectively a region in Asia. It's separation from the rest of the continent is purely eurocentric as it was based on factors such as religion, culture, language and phenotype that has nothing to do with geography. If we were to follow the same logic then all regions in Asia would be their own continents.
Further more, not only is Europe objectively a region in Asia, the geographical definition of asian insinuates that europeans are asian too since they had asian descent during their migration out of Africa (as opposed to the definition of African as black african descent or relating to it's culture)
Basically, you see how the term just means all of humanity except black africans which is absolutely incoherent as well as the eurocentric definition. That term is exclusive, not inclusive because there's nothing in common between all regions in Asia and it's excluding black african descent. Besides, if we want to be inclusive, the term Human/humanity literally exist 🤦♂️
**Overall, people should stop thinking that WE MUST base our identity from the lack of knowledge/ignorance of others (in this case, europeans).**
The phenotypical usage of asian used by most english speaking countries as those of East and South East Asian descent makes much more sense since phenotype is science, it makes sense also due to the fact that East and South East asians are closely genetically related.
Phenotype terms in most english speaking countries: Black Africans are refered as black people, Middle East are arab, Indian-Subcontinent are Desi, Europe are white/european and EA/SEA are refered as asian.
I prefer base myself on science than being incoherent and eurocentric.
Exactly
Yeah, but when people normally say Asia, that’s what they mean
Finally a good comment. People just don't give importance to other Asian countries.
As a Korean, I can usually tell 70% correctly... usually if they are only from those three countries. Sometimes it is difficult, so maybe do not try to guess who is from where. Especially, I recommend not asking, "South? Or North (Korean)?" People who ask this question usually don't know which one is not a democratic country.
Asia is so wide that we cannot generalize we all look the same. In South East Asia, we may have some similiarities but each country has some distinctions, too. And let's not forget, Middle East Asia has also different appearance than that of from the East Asia
But we can all agree that Koreans, Japanese and Chinese they all look super similar. I’m never sure so I just don’t talk to them 😂😂😂

IT IS HARD TO IDENTIFY WHETHER THEY ARE CHINESE, JAPANESE , KOREAN OR VIETNAMESE OF THEY DRESS UP THE SAME WAY.
If you paid attention they actually have a sort of different fashion trend.
Most Japanese loves semi-long hair that goes all the way to the back, or simple styles like 4th guy. 4th guy has a trendy/classic japanese hair cut, popular nowadays cuz its just so simple and comfy
Koreans love Semi-short hair cut, they often go with long Top/bangs nowadays like wolf cut but with short sides and back. especially with middle parted hairstyle, K-pop idols popularized this style a lot.
Chinese loves short haircut, its their culture. But nowadays the younger gens love having long bangs due to the trend influence, so they pair short side or back haircuts with long bangs/ long side bangs. They love long side bangs a lot.
Their attire differs too.
Personally, japanese attire feels easiest to recognize since its more into the "comfy" side.
